    Excellent review. For anyone who hasn't realized, this is a 'wood gasifier' stove. Once it's going and hot, the wood gas comes out of that row of holes just inside the top rim and burns just like a gas burner. Note the ring of flames that forms about halfway through this video. Clean and efficient burning. Thanks, Taras.

    Pretty cool. I've made small versions of this but that's pretty impressive. Might try making this from a 35 gal drum cause ain't no way I'm paying 400 bucks.

    It is a wood gas afire stove. There are small versions for backpacking that work the same way.

    I use the medium size one when camping... It's great, easy to use and incredible how everything burns, nothing left on the bottom.

    What you have there is a really big rocket stove. His comment about how it looks like gas flames is correct. What is happening due to the flames coming up out the upper holes is called secondary combustion. Where the burning wood is releasing a flammable gas. The flames coming out at the top is burning that and hence, no smoke.

  • @btrswt35
    @btrswt35 6 років тому +1

    I made one of those out of two stainless steel stock pots a few years ago. The design really does work well but keep the wood below the top rim otherwise it will have a tendency to smoke.

    That’s wood gas that’s on fire from the holes in the wall. It’s gives a beautiful flame. I’m impressed. Looks like you could just use small sticks and make a good flame.
    Thanks for testing it.

    It's pretty much a scaled up soda can stove. But instead of alcohol it uses wood. I am guessing it channels the wood gases up the sides, much like the alcohol version.

    • @wesleyeenjes
      @wesleyeenjes 6 років тому +2

      There is almost no ash because of the way it is burning the wood and the woodgas. Cool down time is probably 10-20minutes after the fire is done burning completely

    Looks great, but how does it work in a zombie apocalypse? I think a small roof about 20cm above the big hole would protect it well from the eventual weather.
