Honestly I figured that if a cat purrs when its in pain or stressed it was using purring as a sort of calming mechanism, like how when a person is upset they may repeat a certain phrase to themselves or something.

My cat ran away about 3 days ago I miss him so much!!
You probably feel the same as me. However my cat died unexpectedly. He couldn't move, constantly urinating every few seconds and then we had to put him down. This happened about 3 years ago, and i miss him so much! Also once i thought my cat ran away but he was in a closet doors shut. I honestly dont know who did this, and it wasn't me yet my whole family was against me.
Well guys shortly after I posted the comment, I found my cat Tommy lieing dead.

This video pretty much have one answer to that, as one comment points out; they don't accept you as the dominant member of the group.
Another reason could be the kitty litter used. Some cats have a disliking towards some types of kitty litter. Some prefer almost sand-like grains, while others may like larger gravel-like grain types, but one thing that I believe all cats will dislike about it, is that if the litter box isn't cleaned and the litter replaced often, they don't want to run their paws through that... Seriously, would anyone want to dig around with their hands in a box of sand, where you knew you had been pooping and urinating in? Even humans can smell when it's high time to replace kitty litter.
You know what that means, you gotta fight em. Cage match.

WELL, WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER I USED TO HAVE A CAT THAT I DIDN'T BOUGHT AT ANY PET SHOP, BUT IT SUDDENLY ONE MORNING APPEARED AT THE ENTRANCE OF MY HOUSE. SO I FOUND IT AND I GAVE HIM SOMETHING TO EAT
AND THOUGHT HE WILL GO AWAY SO THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR I SURPRISED MYSELF BECAUSE I SAW THE CAT WAS SLEEPING AT A SIDE OF THE DOOR SO I PLAYED FOR A WHILE WITH IT THEN LATER I FOUND OUT HE HAD A SIBLING BUT THIS OTHER CAT WAS A WHOLE LOT MORE DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE I FOUND AT FIRST BECAUSE THIS OTHER CAT WAS MORE SHY THAN HIS BROTHER AND WELL I PUT THEM A NAME TO EACH ONE. ONE WAS CALLED KITTY(THE ONE THAT I FOUND AT FIRST) AND THE OTHER ONE I CALLED'EM HUERO OR BLONDE IN ENGLISH THEY WERE FOR A SHORT TIME MY FAVORITE MASCOTS UNTIL KITTY GOT SICK BUT HE DIDN'T DIE THAT EASY BUT ONE MORNING WHEN MY DAD WAS ABOUT TO USE HIS TRUCK TO GO TO WORK...... KITTY WAS SLEEPING BY THE ENGINE OF MY FATHER'S TRUCK SO WHEN HE STARTED THE TRUCK HE JUST HEARD A CRACK SO HE TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND CHECKED WHAT HAD HAPPENED OPENED THE TRUCK WHERE THE ENGINE WAS AND FOUND THE CAT DEAD SO CATS ARE NOT THAT SMART THOUGH!
That cat was sleeping under the hood of the truck because it was a safe place to sleep and hide from any potential predator. Of course it didn't know not to sleep there, most if not all, animals do not know how human machinery operates.

Roughly a third of cats just aren't genetically inclined to catnip. There's some alternatives. Honeysuckle infused cat toys sold online almost always work for cats who don't react to catnip. (honeysuckle itself should never be fed to cats though)

try silvervine, its more concentrated than catnip and more percentage of cats will play with it. mine doesnt really care for catnip besides eating it, but silvervine he will rub against for quite a while.

i remember hearing somewhere a cat purr is driven by the same mechanism as a lion's roar, and that there's a connection between the cat's purring and releasing and endorphin that helps calm them.
Now i'm sad because i leave my cat in the darkness all the time.

I remember 20+ years ago when I was sleeping and my cat Pumpkin was in the room. She was resting in the window behind my dresser. Then I heard her getting up and knocking stuff off my dresser. I knew that she could not see. I then heard her trying to get off. So I turned on the light near me. I saw her carefully moving down the chair and when I turned the light on, she stopped being careful and proceeded out at her normal pace.
Little things like that are so cute

Sorry to say, but colors in cats come in shades of black and red. white isn't a fur color in cats, but a lack thereof.
Your cat's black and grey coloring are controlled by the same gene- but the grey is black +white, instead of it's own "color"
The brown spot is a mix of black+red.
Still interesting though the you have a tricolor male cat. Fun fact: they're sterile! Yay!

Not really tricolor...in kitty genetics, tabby is considered a single color, or color pattern controlled by a single gene. So no, you do not have a tricolor cat, sorry. :p If you did he would be deaf, sterile, and prone to developing cancer.
The part about calico and tortoishell cats made me think of Warriors, where there are at least 3 tortoishell males, one of which has kits.

I had to read an article on why cats purr for standardized testing (ISTEP+ is what it's called where I live). It was really net. Purring can also affect humans. Purring does help bone growth, and is even known to reverse bone loss.

All my cats, all of my life have LOVED catnip. Once I planted some catnip, but it wasn't in the ground 1 hour before my cat dug it up and rolled all over the yard with it. :) I smoked some once back in the 60s, but it just gave me a headache. :(

cats purring is acctualy thought to be something that has remained through their evolution as larger cats as lions and leopards purr to show satisfaction and content. They, on the other hand loose this ability as they grow up since they no longer depend on older generations to feed and take care of them. What is so special about cats is that they acctualy carry this ability through their adulthood as well...

Nothing can change it's angular momentum without using a projectile or gyroscope.
If a cat is located 90 degrees in comparison to the ground (sideways), it will use it's flexible back to twist its front legs the right way round, which will usually result with with the rear legs 180 degrees to the ground. Once the front legs touch the ground the cat quickly flips its rear legs the right way round.

I have reached a level of love for cats that i already knew all this
Ive grown up with cats most of my life, but despite that, im more of a dog person. Not to say I don't love cats, they can be very affectionate in their own way and very comforting, mine knew when i was upset or angry and would walk over to me and lay on me to help me feel better, but my best friend has two amazing dogs and their energy and way of showing affection is more attuned to me, they are energetic, friendly, loving, cuddly and are always happy to see me when i visit. One of them was abused by men in the past as a puppy before they got her and so now she is terrified of men, but she is always happy to see me when i go see them, when her or her gf's dad/brother visits she always hides in the kitchen. When i visit she always lays down next to me and licks my hand until i pick her up, then when i try and put her down she does it again. Shes a cockapoo and she's the sweetest thing.
Even my sister who is a massive cat person couldn't not love them, despite the fact she is allergic to dogs.
As much as i love cats, I can't not love the energy of dogs. I can understand why they are man's best friend.

They purr when they're chillin, and purr when in pain. Either way, it helps them relax.

I once read that cats purr to calm themselves. They purr even while they’re dying. When cats hunt, they purr to calm their body from all that excitement and that helps them to wait for the perfect moment to jump on their prey. When cats fight or they are angry they purr to calm down and this also helps them to find the perfect solution at the situation. They can think about options and choose the right one - the best one (for them).(most of the time they decide to bite you :)) . Its like when we say that 'take a deep breath' to other person, to calm him down except cats method is much more effective. :)

Oohh! So that is why my cat doesn't bury it's poop. My cat is the alpha cat of the entire neighborhood, and, when it gets outside, is usually growling at another cat within 0.5 nanoseconds.

He didn't talk about the science of meowing.. My cat meows way more than he did couple years ago, but he is perfectly healthy (we checked), and nothing at all has changed differently in his life style. He's a healthy, happy, loved, cat but meows so much.

I did learn that when cats purr loudly it is because they want something, you can tell the difference between it's happy, restful purr and the louder more insistent purr.
When my cat was in pain, she purred all the time... She was pregnant and very small because we think it's when we found her (We found her on a highway and she got hit when she was a kit, broke one of her bones and it caused her to not control her bowels and she couldn't walk, then she became older and taught herself how to walk) she couldn't really grow anyways. Her babies died inside of her and it poisoned her, even before she was in labor, but all she did was purr and sit and sleep. I'm guessing (since I watched this video) she thought it would help her heal or something... But we had to put her down because it was too late to take her babies out.
