    let's see a self-sustained colony on Antarctica and then the moon before I believe colonizing Mars is possible, lets walk before we run.

  • @resilientfarmsanddesignstu1702

    Good stuff here. Positive but realistic. One correction though. When referring to Martian water, don’t say evaporation; only liquids evaporate. Water on Mars is at a pressure and temperature below its triple point so it will never become a liquid on the surface (exempt perhaps in very deep craters). Therefore, it will sublimate rather than evaporate, going directly from a solid phase to a gaseous phase.

    Found it interesting that you glossed over the fact that Martian soil is toxic. They did the same thing on the movie with Matt Damon, a movie that was called the most scientifically accurate movie ever. Hey, just bring some dirt in from outside and we can grow us some potatoes.

    How terrifying to let a species that has already done so much damage to its home planet, loose on others.
    We are like the future 'pandemic' of the universe.
    Why do we constantly rush ahead when we haven't yet figured out how to address existing problems on our own world?
    Being so amenable to the concept of almost everything on Earth being disposable, surely should not be scaled up to treating the entire planet as such.

    I agree ^^ Let's start real small. Let's eliminate for all time Starvation, the politics of greed and war first. Then we can worry about exploring and colonizing strange new worlds. We're still much to infantile to take the next step but one day my Great Great Grand children may do so. Nice Video

    Genetic modification of humans, flora and flora may be more realistic than terraforming the whole planet.
    Even if it COULD be done, we would still need some physical modifications to combat the health problems caused by the lower gravity.

    we still havent figured out how to unite the planet we have. we dont have sociological advances to do anything remote to this. the amount of resources needed to colonize mars can only come from the entirety of earth. we cant have countries in that case, there can be no gross hoarding of resources like with current billionaires, we cant have division of property rights on mars, who financed what and what they own. the mass of this undertaking only allows a full global commitment, and even that is a slim "if". we have tragically aborted any thought of creating better societal systems due to the overbearing pressure of capitalism on the current ways of living, and the finite nature of individual´s existence. a colony of bees is technologically hundreds of thousands of years behind us, but sociologically tens of thousands of years ahead of us. we are just a bunch of monkeys obsessed with conquering the electromagnetic force, completely denying the fact that "advancing the humanity" can not only be done on a material plane. we will die off, and the cause will be money. our own nature as a species will keep us from becoming interplanetary, because the only way to achieve this leap would be to change a human being entirely - making it become a robot through brain implants - which in itself strips it of its adjective "human"; or develop in such astronomical ways in the areas of empathy and interconnectedness which we are entirely disregarding, that i am absolutely skeptic of it ever becoming reality. We had Einsteins and Newtons in physics, but sociologically we are still stuck in the stone age.

    • @de1018
      @de1018 Рік тому

      Yep, you hit on the exact points I believe will keep humanity from truly becoming an interstellar species. Sure, we might be able to send some ships, even manned expeditions, to other bodies in the solar system. But sustaining a real space program, not to mention an interplanetary civilization, is beyond the reach of a species stuck in selfish monkey ways.
      AI will most likely be what colonizes space. And by that point, there will only be a few humans left living as specimens in Skynet's zoos.

    😂😂😂😂 so people on earth hate gas and diesel meanwhile on Mars we need as much pollution as possible 😂😂😂 so that means Earth would still have to have production for this and that still means that gas and diesel prices would be outrageous due to the fact that we'd have to ship it from Earth to Mars because Mars probably doesn't have all that because its dead or is it dead and they have lied to us because as we all know there's extremophiles that live microscopically in diesel gas and other natural gas environments
