Great video! I experimented with prestyling with Fifth Sample and finishing with Dauntless Wax Cream and agree when you said they kind of step on top of each other. I know you don't like pushing your own product but I think you're pulling back too much. I was actually looking forward to what you had to say about your WC as a prestyler and was a little disappointed that you didn't elaborate a little more. When it comes to mentioning your own product along side other products, you can give it the same attention without sounding biased. This is your channel and you can push your own products a little. Keep up the good work. Wishing you the best and success in 2020!
Thanks for being open minded. I’m just trying to be aware of the commitments I made when I opened the brand about how I wouldn’t let it become the focus of my content. The wax cream does work really well as a pre styler tho. The high wax content makes it really pliable under the heat and then it locks in when it cools back down so you build a really strong foundation.
I just purchased a bottle of the Shear Revival Amity Spray, cause Matt at TDM Style just did a review and loved it, and know that you spoiled that you liked it I cant wait to try it out. Keep up the good work 🍻
I've used WB Clay Pomade for pre and Oil/Wax Clay for finish. In my opinon, that technique, should give great texture and volume. In different combination and order, it doesn't work well. What do you think about this method? For example Hermit and Matt Clay or even Phantsam
I got 25 Spray by Salon Guy in the mail this week and have liked it a lot thus far. I have thick, dry, frizzy hair and this helps a lot, especially with volume. That said, I still feel like my hair is slightly dry. I have some oil, and will give your suggestion a shot!
Would you mind keeping us posted on a combination that helps solve your frizziness issue once you run across a solution, please? I have essentially the same exact hair I think. And out the shower I: -Use Agadir Argon oil, Deva curl leave in conditioner, and Tresemme Leave In Heat Tamer -Blow dry to straighten out my hair - Top it off with "Aveda Brilliant Humectant Pomade" And that combo leaves my hair mostly straight, but super dry and frizzy still , its so super frustrating :/. Anyway best of luck to you 👌
@@BakiX I happened to have Shear Revival's Sawbones as an all-purpose oil already on hand. I used one spray of that first, then sprayed 25 Spray, then blow-dried. I used Nostalgic's Apple Oak matte pomade after drying it and I have liked the results so far. I used the oil for 2-3 days after watching this video and haven't had to apply since. I think I will everyone once in a while to help it out but the combination with 25 Spray has really helped. Hopefully this, or something, similar works for you!
Mike, what's your opinion on Bluman Original as PreStyler + Stickmore Styling Cream as Post? Or Blackwater + Stickmore Styling Cream? What's better combo? I have Stickmore and am very satisfied just want to get most of it. Maybe texture and help to style during the blow-dry process. Also I have sea salt spray. Want fairly dry matt finish. Or maybe new Shear Revival Spray I need like go-to combo for everyday use Thanks in advance
Hi! You say waxes a lots of time but what is a wax i mean wax cream and original by blumaan is not feel the same.Do you have a deffinition or you can say some waxes.Please. and what does the waxynes in a product means? Thax for the answear.
I have thin asian hair, it is quite long at the front but only a few inches in the middle. I have a messy side part which is pretty voluminous. The problem though is that when I start to style, the hair is straight. Then at the end of the day, volume decreases and my hair becomes wavy, how can I stop it from being wavy? I used the same products that kept my hair quite well before but now it just becomes wavy
Hey Boss, I bought a Dauntless Grooming Oil because of the hair benefits, I haven’t received it yet but I’m wondering if it will work as a pre styler by itself then finish it off with a clay.
hey man! thanks for checking out my grooming oil! it can for sure be used as a prestyler but it doesn’t provide any hold so I want to make sure you know that. it will make your hair super soft and lightweight so you might get some more volume based on your hairtype, and then if you use just the recommended amount, you won’t have any shine so a clay will then come in and work super good! let me know how it goes!
Julio Arevalo Yeah for sure if you want to do that I’m all for people experimenting and finding new combos and things. There’s no set rules on what you can and can’t do in this game. If your curious about it I say try it! If they don’t work together then you at least have 2 awesome ones that work individually.
Mike can you make a video about HOW TO ACTUALLY use hair products in correct manner. I get CONFUSED about applying product on damp hair , using blowdryer or air-drying, and just the PROPER TECHNIQUES.
It’s pretty self explanatory haha. Take product and run it through your hair haha. I guess I could do a video but there’s not really a set proper technique.
@@MMTV I did not mean that. I'm asking the COMBINATION of product and air-drying blow-drying and oil and other stuff. MOST of the times my hair either end up with NO hold, or they get bricked and FRIZZY. HELP!
Hello Mike awesome video as always! And packed with info wow! I just bought the crafted blow dry cream, with what other product would you recommend combine it with to get good hold and smooth hair? I usually always use 25 from the salon guy and meraki from blumaan (actually from your recommended that for me a long time ago) and it has been my go to ever since, but I want to try new things. Again thank you for the info and keep doing the great work!
Great stuff! :) :) :) However, I think the lights hitting the camera straight from the front, are not doing a good job. They mess up the contrast and introduce a lot of haze. I'd hide one behind your back or move them off camera and angle on you.
I’ve been using cloud control and original by bluuman as prestylers and finishing with the fifth sample. Got really nice hold that I was looking for but volume wasn’t the best. Last week I got Kevin Murphy’s anti gravity cream to use instead of original, and cavalier clay instead of fifth sample and I’m getting even more volume and hold that lasts a whole day. I have similar hair style like yours, tho I have fine hair (don’t mistake with thinning). There’s so many great products that it’s really hard to decide which one to use 😅
How do you find the KM anti gravity cream just on its own? Is your hair actually nice to touch after it’s been blow dried or is it sticky or tacky or anything like that? Been looking at getting some anti gravity cream to use just on days when I don’t feel like having clay in my hair but don’t know how it feels just on its own
Lighter holding products in the pre styler usually work well. Ascend is a good one for fine hair. Original works well too if you use small amounts, and the salonguy blow dry cream-crafted is another that I’d recommend.
I have a similar hair type... Here's what I use... Dauntless hair oil and Lockhart's anti gravity for prestyle Lockhart's Clay or Dauntless wax cream for post styler
Almost similar to me. Any styling product that not holding strong enough, I consider and will use it as prestyler because it can serve as a great foundation
I’m sure we could find someone who likes to go that route. It’s not my personal choice so it wouldn’t be coming from me but perhaps in the future I could work with someone who does like a crew cut.
hey there! I can’t offer an answer on this unfortunately. I haven’t tried harvest moon, and I don’t even know if I’ve really tried oasis with how many versions that have been out. if I could give you an answer I totally would but I can’t give you an honest reply on this one.
Every time I think to myself, "okay lets try this pre-styling and blow drying thing again, maybe it will work with this new product" I realize I just wasted another 20+ dollars lol. Pre-styling just does not work for my hair. I get better looking styles by just using one product on towel dried hair. Also, at some point you have to wonder if there is diminishing effects and return on investment when you start using 3 different products at once to achieve a style.
I think no matter what product it is or no matter what styling method it is, there’s going to be someone who doesn’t like it or it doesn’t work for. It’s just the nature of this game but I am glad at least you find something and someway to get a style you prefer. As far as diminished effects or return, the way I see it is I could use 1 product on dry hair and get killer results. I do that often actually. Using 3 products, which I think is kind of presented here in a way to make it sound more excessive than it really is. A grooming oil, that helps nourish and keep your hair healthy, that you can also use for your beard, face, and hands to keep it all hydrated and nourished is worth it simply for those stated effects. A pre styler used after Is not used because the post styler isn’t capable ( as I just stated, I use 1 product a lot and it works fine) the pre styler is there to get more as I stated in this video. More hold, more endurance, more texture maybe, more volume. It’s to take the usual style and change it up and inflate it, to give you more options as a styler. When you have more options, and things look good, the return is well worth it to me.
@@MMTV Well said. Its funny because through alot of product and styling method testing I have pretty much found the 4 products that work for my different styles (clean & neat, textured side part, messy, and relaxed/ lazy), however i continue to watch your videos and others on youtube and end up keep buying more 😂. There are just so many products on the market these days.
Great one man! I def agree, I think prestyling is still sometimes underrated, especially combining different products for additional benefits.

Plz mike make a proper video on your blow-drying technique for thick bushy curly hair type.plz man it's a humble request.
Any reccomendations for ones with a built in heat protectant

Wow it must be super dry if it’s still dry after that 25! I’d give the oil a shot but don’t over do it or else it will get greasy.

What about this combo: blumaan original and then monarch/also maybe add in cloud control before original
Try it!
It's obligatory to use a pre stylers or oil before?
I mean, if i only use the product like a Claymation, it's not good?
When do you do the next product punchout?
Those are tough to do these days. Not a lot of time.
