How exciting! Great video. We are getting ready to move onto and renovate an old coastal cruiser. Planning on doing the loop in a couple of years when my husband retires. Can't wait to do the loop, but super excited to just start living boat life. Looking forward to watching your progress. Enjoy the journey!! ☺

With the storm water was probably pretty stirred up, but you should have taken the snorkeling tour from there to see Christ of the Abyss. Base in about 20 or so ft of water. Tons of marine life. When we went, boat was right next to a little shelf. Largest spiny lobster I've ever seen under it. Captain asked why I didn't grab it. Well, marine preserve and out of season, don't want to spend rest of 25th anniversary trip in jail!!!

FYI, The dark birds you see with their wings partially spread are Anhingas, of the cormorant family. They can't fly when their feathers are wet. After a fishing expedition where they swim underwater hunting for small fish, they must dry their wings before they can fly. Unlike ducks, they don't have enough oil in their feathers so they can't float on top of the water.

I’m not a fan of running on one engine but that’s certainly your prerogative. However, it seemed to me that you brought that engine to idle and shut it down pretty quick. I would have let it idle about 10 minutes to allow the turbo to wind down before shutting it off. I have two MAN 800 diesels and the owners manuals recommend letting the engines idle for 10-12 minutes after taking the load off them.
