It is a balancing act, like everything else in life. You should stick up for yourself, but like in physical self defense, avoid causing unnecessary harm verbally.
Also, do not be surprised that other people are insecure, and thus, do not take it personally if they get hurt due to their weakness. Everyone has some weakness, but everyone should strive to grow stronger, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and perhaps financially. Considering you watch these videos, you are on the right path. Try looking up Emotional Awareness and Emotional Intelligence exercises.
The best thing you can do, in terms of communication, is fine tune how you say what you want to say. People at work sometimes say I sound educated, and sure, some theater classes and being a reader helps, but I owe it to Facebook. I would argue politics on there, think about how to type it to be blunt without unnecessarily insulting, and my way of talking ended up reflecting how I began typing. Unless drunk, of course, then I keep my answer short and I talk slow and methodical, someone said I sound like the chill guy at work.
This video brings up another point. If you criticize someone's work, not only try to be direct without being insulting about it, squeeze in some honest compliments if you can.
Also remember that others are toxic, consciously or not, so it is good to be able to spot lies. Seriously, I know one person I do not know if she actually believes in her selective memory (I had witnesses to show I did not have selective memory) or was gaslighting me.

    I'm D..... Toxic towards myself
-Like the inner critic making me OCD and perfectionistic for example. Most mistakes/cringey memories from my younger days I've at least pondered about more than 50+ times.
-Having such bad time anxiety and worrying about being late; even though time in itself is a man-made concept.
-Having a hard time setting boundaries due to bad phobia of upsetting others, and thus makes me have guilt complex's.
I'm working on improving those toxic aspects I've learned. I know now that if people are upset when setting boundaries, I'm doing it right; that and I have no reason to apologize for taking care of myself.

I think there’s only one A / B I chose, that was the final question. I try not to envy others’ successes, but sometimes I can’t help it given how hard I try to push myself to success. The drama one was another one I tend to lean a bit towards B on. Unfortunately I’ve been in a few dramas throughout the past two years. It started a bit more after I endured some trauma last May with my mom dying. Some “friends / acquaintances” lost patience with me, and it drove us into drama. However, I’ve tried to always stay clear of drama for the longest time, so that’s where I’d like to say that I lean towards C.

My scenario's the same! I'm great on most of these, but I have a major lack of simply being happy for people if they surpass me in something I want to excel at, and I feel a little threatened if they get close.
An odd flipside is that I want highly intelligent people around me to bounce clever stuff off of!
A strategy I came up with that can do both of these goals is to surround myself with super smart people intentionally, so I'm among intellectual equals, so I have to take the pill of not necessarily being the smartest person in the room.

  • @pabnckncykma1297
    @pabnckncykma1297 Рік тому +110

I'm around 30-40% B and 60-70% C. In the B part, I felt when someone is doing something better than me, I usually feel jealous and sometimes if it overwhelmed me, discouraged. I respect their hardwork I know they do a lot to achieve it, but I just can't help but feel that way. Even though I'm fully conscious how I feel, I can't stop it. That's why sometimes I'd rather not hear anything, or if I do, suppress my jealousy and move on. Though it have quite significant impact on my life, if I'm overwhelmed by it, I just stop doing the same thing that someone else do that made me jealous.
And this is also why I admire people who won't feel jealous, but instead learn more from them with hardwork.

Similar - I had 4 C's and 3 B's. The other B that I recall is that I don't feel awkward most of the time if I "win" an argument, though I'm typically not trying to crucify someone by making it overly contentious - it's more about being able to convey my perspective to where they have an understanding/ appreciation for it.

I then said weren't you a mediocre competitive smash player, and I don't go to video game tornaments... I said think about what you say before you say stuff dumbass. I went on to ask if he has down syndrome or something pointing out his ugly features on his face. Told him he has the tendency to over smile, which annoys me because he has one gummy smile. Not just that, this is a horrible measure of toxicity imo. I say this as someone who would’ve been pretty strongly all C’s a few years ago.
The non-toxic person in this circumstance has no self-acceptance or respect. It’s kinda scary how this video frames the perfect abuse victim as the ideal.
Like yeah on a surface level - being happy for others, apologizing for your mistakes, being understanding are great characteristics to have. That said you shouldn’t have to go to the ends of the earth to understand someone in an argument or compromise with them - sometimes it’s best to just disagree internally and move on (ie talking with a racist family member). Also it’s not wrong to have a slightly heated discussion if both people are fine with it, especially as long as you recognize that you won’t loose yourself because of this conversation (ie arguing with said racist why racism is bad), and understand that this conversation is something you do outside of building the rest of your life. (It’s not your duty to fix a racist)
Also it’s not wrong to feel anger, hurt, jealousy, insecurity - it’s wrong to use those feelings to hurt others and/or to let them consistently overwhelm you - it’s a part of being human. These aren’t things you should be repressing until they aren’t there at all, but rather acknowledging so you can move on from them.

I also had to separate myself from my friend because he complains about his job, about certain things and about his wife. He's very sensitive to where he wants sympathy from women, and he criticizes and gossips about people and he swears he's more righteous than everyone else

My biggest weakness apart from my stubbornness is that I can be quite blunt and OVERLY truthful at times, and it has screwed me over on occasion. I do try to take accountability and apologize whenever I do something seriously wrong because despite how difficult it can be for me to admit when I'm being an a$$hole at a certain time, I should since I don't want to lose the relationships I've gained. Like maybe I’m not doing enough to be a better person. For context, I’ve been dealing with residual damage that has been left behind by the many of narcissistic that i call my family. And since being shown how much damage I’ve received by someone I loved, I’ve been trying to be a better person every day i can. And with quiz, those doubts I’ve had about myself subsided a little. Mostly I answered C in the prompts with a few B’s so over the past 2 years of healing, I’m proud of myself for being strong enough to undo some of the damage that I’ve forcedly received. Thank you for this quiz. And thank you for helping others in helping themselves. Trauma is a scary thing, but coming from a fellow survivor. To anyone who thinks that “they can’t” or that “their not good enough” or “you don’t deserve it”, you do. You are. And you can. You can do anything you put your mind to. But I’m on self improvement rn where I work on all aspects of life (which includes my personality and how I act when it comes to emotions and so on).
I think I lean towards B the most because I’ve been around toxicity my whole life, I’ve met a few true good hearted people. But most of those that I know are honestly the opposite. My mother is one of them. She is pretty narcissistic and toxic, which slowly also turned me to a shit person.

i have been around very toxic people. and until that i’ve been toxic myself and i’m aware. when i try to change it takes steps y-know? but some people aren’t letting me and start to make drama with me and tell people rumors about me. now nobody likes me because of that i stopped trying to change because people don’t see how hard i’m trying. so rn i’m just titled as toxic and rude but guess what now i’m trying to be that i don’t care what others say anymore i’ll give them what they want. a toxic rude person. but really deep inside i don’t mean it and i’m very depressed that i’m alone and full of bs. let’s see how this quiz goes.
1: I say B or C depending who it is if i’m nice. if i don’t like them i would be A, “i’m just joking stop being sensitive.”
2: I say B, honestly i’d be jealous and mad.
3: i say A, anywhere it just has to find me or i find them.
4: i say B maybe sometimes C but rarely, depending on the person i guess.
5: just B i guess. but i’m not really “excited” mostly ready to be as rude as i can.
6: It depends on the person usually if i want to give rude feedback. but if it’s to someone that is neutral i would say it looks nice and give them nice feedback but maybe in the inside it weirds me out. (idk which one.)
7: it also depends on the person it would be a mix with A and B, mostly B.
if it’s someone close like my partner i would be as nice as i can get.

I just don't understand why some of the people I've dealt with in the past don't apply changes to their behaviour. I thought I was judgmental and extremely negative, but in the end I realise that when I'm with balanced and self-aware people, I'm fine. I hope to be able to leave toxic people behind from now on if my guts tell me to not bother. 1: depends what the joke is and what the context is
2: number 2, i may feel a certain way and want attention but im not gonna be an ass.
3: number 3, i only have drama with 1 individual that i've seemingly cut out of my life and since then haven't had problems
4: number 3, i admit when im wrong but to get to that point sometimes takes some work and honestly might be one of my worst flaws. since im very good at articulating my ideas, i become convinced that i'm right. i need an extensive debate to prove me wrong and with reasonable explainations. if you can't prove to me that i'm wrong, then i wont apologies, but if you do then i will take full responsability.
5: number 2, if im arguing with someone then i have a reason, only really agrue with my mom and that one friend i used to have, plus im a debate team captain and sticking it to an asshole is fun from time to time
6: somewhere inbetween 2 and 3, im honest about the way i feel and how much effort was put in. if someone did a shit job but ik they tried their best, then i'll praise them and tell them how i think they can improve, but let's say someone did well but put no effort and there is still improvement i'll be upset that they didn't try. its more about effort then end product.
7: again somewhere inbetween 2 and 3, but i lean closer to 3. if they are improving in something that means they could take a promotion i want or get i prize i've set my sights on, then yes i'll be jealous, but i'll still support them and supress my bias. if what they exell at is something that doesn't effect me negatively and they are proud of it, then my external reaction will still be supportive but it will be backed by purer intentions.

Nowadays, I do the best I can to keep my thoughts and feelings in check, but sometimes, it's hard for me to stop any persistent negative thoughts I have. The one golden rule that's helped me in those instances is to just keep my mouth shut, and if I have to let it out, I'll just wait until the situation is over and then get it all out of my system.

i know a lot of really toxic people who would never truly acknowledge any of these in themselves if they were watching this tbh. people whove even been called out for being toxic and said “omg ur right ill be better” and go back to being just as toxic or even more so than before.

A lot of people in my schools would manipulate. Because I saw this I learned what manipulation looks like and how to manipulate. Which is why I always ask my friends if they feel like I'm being a bad person to them so that I am not a bad person. I do not want to become a manipulative person. It is a big fear of mine.

I mostly got B’s and C’s. The resentment stems from people doing me dirty and taking advantage of me, not so much jealousy. Still working on it though.

I’ve learnt I’m a toxic person. I suspected i am. Do I wanna change … truthfully I don’t know. I do need to work on filtering myself.

Somewhere between B and C is the place to be here. Anyone going hard A by these standards would be intolerable but hard C would be a hapless pushover.

I'm hard C until someone makes fun of my twin.
