Great video. I have a question. With the time it takes for the images to appear on the device (one second or so like you said), I want to know if it's possible for CamRanger to receive smaller JPEGs while the photos are saved RAW in-camera so that receiving those photos for viewing can be faster?
New TP-link portable router either 1500AX or 3002AX coming out soon. Tried it on Nikon Z9 transferring RAW full resolution 45mp photos takes about 2 seconds per photo. It can also be setup to do anything else. The only thing it doesn't have is the back up SD card. Basically Camranger is a pocket router. TP-link requires external battery but it can be any size in my pocket or on the belt connected to the router via cable. It will run for many hours probably several times longer than Camranger. TP-link also has internal antennas. Right now on Amazon for $49. Oh, and on pro cameras it will be using ethernet port instead of USB. My Z9 has 1Gig port.
I do have a question. do you use the SD card slot provided in the cam ranger or do you put it in the camera or both? I changed the file names on my images to my initials so I wanna make sure if I can keep that consistent. I also just wanna make sure I know where the images will be saved.
Good info. Confirms that it will be sufficient for my hobby purposes. Thanks for posting.
Thanks. Great info about the client mode & in live view mode you can not control settings from the camera!
Just letting you know, your code has expired. hahaha. But I still bought it. I loved your video. Thank. you so much!
Why not just use the canon ipad app and the wifi built into the cemera? I do this all the time. Models get to watch their shoot as we go. Or I get to monitor myself. Others can see as well. Maybe not as many features but for what you are doing it's probably just as good. You can also shoot directly from the iPad screen. Same as camranger cam.
But with the built in stuff you need no cables. Huge bonus.
I’m currently using the capture one app and I greatly dislike that it only saves all my images from the session to my iPad and not at all to my SD. It’s a great way for me to work in collaboration with my clients, but it’s an uneasy feeling not having those images backed up to my camera SD as well. I’ll definitely be investing into this system in the near future. Thanks for the info! Cheers!
Oh, also, I use the Sony A7III, I don’t know if there’s a difference in other models but I’m limited by the longest type C cable I own.
Just bought the camranger 2 and tried connecting with Fuji gfx 100s. Failing to connect. Can I please call someone at Camranger to try to fix this before I have to return the item please? Or a zoom call so we can trouble shoot our way through to success. thank you.
Nice video, Have you compared Camranger & FTP transfers on the internal camera?
Sorry, could you tell me where is the serial number located? I can’t find it. All I can see is wifi password only 😢
Informative video, big thanks.
Thank you!
Have you found anything better yet?
It records to the internal camera memory card as default, correct?
It records to the camera’s memory card by default and you have to turn on the setting to record to the SD card in the cam ranger
ok cool , but how to control the camera remotely ? like to take pictures remotely …the camera is a birdhide 100km from me , yes there is internet too
Range for this device is 500 ft ( about 150 m ). So I think it is not possible to trigger the camera from longer range. I would like to use this device only for remote viewing of scene I like to photograph ( for eg. wideangle view of some animal, bird on tree trunk etc. ). I hope it is posible to turn off option to send all image data ( for eg. raw image ) to my laptop or Ipad. ??
why this disturbing music in the backgroud... not necessary... I can't listen more - leave your presentation... sorry...
