Lots of people say the Escort Cosworth doesn't drive as well as the other Cosworths but the reason is actually given in the video. You can't get the tail out, it doesn't go all over the place. It's made for efficiency and seconds gained on the road/track. The Escort is able to put the power down in the most efficient and controlled way. Not fun but quick as a bat flying out of hell. Mine has Proflex suspension, poly bushed all over and 18" wheels with a close ratio 5 speed dogleg gearbox (maxes out at 200Km/h). There is NO modern car that is able to keep up with it up a mountain road. Oh and it's a one owner car, I bought it new in 1994 😁
im 2nd owner of 92 mallard green press car bought in 99 at7yrs old with very low miles during recession and bad winter money had fell on cars sold mk1 mex and mk2 rs2000 bought escort Cosworth for 15k now nearly 6 figure car
My dad had an 1989 Ford sierra 2.8i 4×4 when i was a kid which swayes me towards the 3 door Cosworth. Both are beautiful cars i think its an age thing.
Great vid guys, bloke that owns the Escort is a lucky b’stard, stunning 👌🏻love the Kelly Brook calendar, I’m a bit of an expert, studied them closely over the years 😂
Didn't the engineers put 4x4 saff guts into a stretched mk4 escort. When they presented it to the top brass, they thought it was a bit of laugh but no way a production car.... until they were taken for a blast in it. After that, they realised its smaller size could make it an ideal rally car, hence giving the green light to the escort cosworth.
@@brian3174agreed, I think the way to easily tell the difference between a real and fake Cossie is the length of the rear boot lid? The Cossie being longer than a standard escort.
AWESOME STUFF....ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS TO DATE. 👍👍👌WELL DONE BOYS, PAUL NEEDS TO TELL HIS STORY OF HOW HE GOT INTO THESE CARS. HOPEFULLY HE'LL MENTION HIS '3 DOOR REPLICA" HE BUILT, ETC ETC.
What a fantastic video, the time flew by. Paul’s knowledge is second to none. He’s the Rainman of the Cosworth world 😂 In an ideal world I’d have a 3 door, an RS500, a Sapphire, a Sapphire 4x4, a Motorsport Escort, an Escort small turbo, and an Escort big turbo. All modified to around 500hp, with a sequential transmission, big brakes, better suspension, and a roll cage. Just to upset the purists 😂 Restomod was the word you were looking for.
I had a 2wd saff cosworth and I got it and it rained on the way home I spun round twice coming out the McDonald’s and hit boost and its away lol. Got some 235 Goodyear eagle f1s on it fast haha. Crazy stuff though I am still here
Interesting the subtle changes from the big turbo escort to the small turbo..think that came at a time when the escort went from a mk5 to a mk6 with smaller mirrors etc
really cool and intresting content been watching the work done , via Adams channel. i expect if you continue , your channel will become just as popular down side being the time it takes to make and edit videos plus run the buisness
Nice video as always I never realised they literally did graft the 2 cars together. Would love to buy a escort shell now from you for 3.5k those were the days. Keep up the good work lads

Another interesting video. The way Paul speaks about these cars is the reason we watch. 👍 On a side note, where is Steve originally from? Sounds like it can't be far away from us, Wigan.

Great video and knowledge as always lads. Thank you. I wonder if Ford ever considered an Orion RS Cosworth? Akin to the Sierra and then the Sierra Sapphire. A hatch back Escort and a saloon Orion? Cheers lads.
I had a mk1 focus rs, incredible car, felt and looked special. But to me rs means Rallye Sport. If it isn't a homologation special its not an RS. I loved group a best, for touring cars and rallying. It was the perfect formula. I always liked Mitsubishi for opposing the decision to WRC spec cars. Mitsubishi said they were in it to promote what their cars. Not just promote cars that looked similar to their cars. Hence why the last car to be Homologated for Group a was the Mitsubishi Evo VII. Like Audi in group b, they refused to build a rally car that wasn't a road car they could be proud of. Like super touring, WRC spec cars killed the homologation specials, in my opinion they killed everything touring cars and wrc stood for. Watch the popularity of wrc plummet when you could nolonger buy on Monday. People would have loved a turbo 4wd Citroën xsara and would have loved the rally car for that reason. But the Xsara wrc was completely pointless in my book. Despite its success on the stages.
