That’s a good project for the colder months, the model cars are so detailed, a friend has a collection he was put together and some already done, they are displayed in a cabinet with lighting really very nice. Craft is always a relaxing hobby. 😊
I used to build models as well. My son does them from time to time. You have given me the inspiration to go buy a kit and the supplies you mentioned and get after it.
Good winter hobby, I put a couple motorcycle models 75 super glide 1/6 scale and 73 or4 Norton, they came out good I’ll have to remember that glue I still have a couple models in my closet need to be built for thirty years old but one day I may get back in to it. Thanks much
I agree 100%, once they start salting the roads my Harley stays in till Spring! It is nice to see you are staying busy and doing something you enjoy...looking forward to seeing your finished models. Happy Holidays! Stay Warm!
I used to build some really nice models back in my teens. When I retired I thought I would get back into it with all my extra time. I built a model room, bought over 60 models, a bunch of accessories, a spray booth and a bunch of tools. Haven’t built one LOL!! Still too busy. Maybe when I hit 80.
That is what I do, as soon as my nasty hill gets salted the bikes get parked for the winter. Like you I have other hobbies to keep me busy during the winter months but I do have a heated garage which makes it nice to work on whatever needs done.
Hi Mark,if you decide you want to go into leather work you can make stuff for your biking buddies and grandchildren etc. Also repair stuff.Thats what I do in the winter.Let me know ,I'll help any way I can
I use to love getting the 3 and 1 builds i always liked using the extra stuff on other builds make them custom i used red thread for plug wires takes some time but looks amazing
Ya I agree Itchy , I'm up here in Canada & parted my bike ( 2018 Ultra ) on Nov 18 ( Mon ) & it snowed on Thursday ( salt ) , I put 9300 miles on this summer ( No trips) & besides that getting to old to have to ride in cold weather , don't have to anymore , anyways hope you have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year & Spring can't come soon enough RIDE ON !!!!
Itchy have you ever thought of buying a wood stove for your garage, a friend of mine got one and had it installed and it heats the garage awesome in the winter here in ontario canada
I hope all is well with u! Up north it's definitely too cold to ride during winter. In Alabama I will have times during winter that doesn't feel like winter
I had one of those big round white kerosene heaters from Walmart. It put out the heat. I had it burning low all night. It kept my old big 3 BR 16 wide trailer warm all night. I had thick blankets on all the windows and doors though😂
We need nearly a month of rain here in Central New York to wash the salt off the roads in the spring. I agree, road salt on bare roads is a serious issue for a motorcycle.
IT"S WORTH THE MONEY!!! Best money I spent when doing my shop was cement - 1st ( cause every body moves in & it never gets done "LATER") and insulation!! Even for the hobby guy- you will get return on it quicker than you think! Like the wall idea too, helps to localize heat, & light. Heavy white contractors' plastic sheeting can get a cheap leg up on both of those things too Just REMEMBER, if you use plastic sheeting (especially on the lid) to use "slats" of wood or card board, so the sheeting can't melt over the staples & drop on your heat source = don't ask how I know!!
Hi, I have over 50 experience building scale models. I will recommend you to go to the show and put in your model in one of the several categories this type of contest have. They usually have everything from novice to master, check it out and pick one where you feel you fit in. I could assure you that there is not going to be anyone there that will ridicules your model. As you can see from your interaction at the Hobby shop, this community is very friendly. I will encourage you to do it, because for what I can see, you’re doing an excellent job, looking good there!
MARK, You scared more than a few of us olde Bikers with your opening comments about "Gonna Quit Riding, ... all done riding." Well that's an olde method of 'publick speaking', that is to start out with a striking intro. And so you did!! Up here in the North of the Boston region we got some good soaking, much needed rain downpours. That's gone and now the temps are dropping like bees hit with a hornet spray. I took a short jaunt of 20 miles a few days back in 38 degrees (no salt) with plenty of layers. My neighbor riding friend called me crazy as I dropped by his house the other day. He's back from hunting in Maine. Talk about crazy, he sat for hours in the cold & snow and hasn't caught his deer yet this season. However I won't call him crazy, just Very Overly Enthusiastic about sitting in his tree stand all the day long. ((see, I was careful, not wanting to offend anybody who enjoys that sort of thing)) As for me, No not crazy, just a bit eccentric about getting in every riding opportunity, I'll admit to that. Invigorating ride, but I had my thoughts that day on breakfast at one of the still operating diner cafe's on my ride route. If you're also into finding these roadside diner cars, there's a Facebook site called - Hole In The Wall Cafe's . . And if there's a particular one that you like you can submit it & they'll add it on their site. Thanx.............. and............. Catch y'all later.
Front brakes and rotors on GMC products is so easy, unlike Ford rotors. Do it yourself, you're capable. Just make sure to get high quality rotors, not the cheapest Chinese junk and Akebono pads. Phenomenal quality, Not affiliated, but have put them on my, and 2 other vehicles of family. Worth every penny! Jayman...
@itchymoche Jusr trying to help, and save you money. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but like you, I can do mechanical things,. The Akenobo pads are worth every p penny , I'm so glad I found them. Jayman...

Model cars will help pass the time during the winter months. 😎👍

Most Interesting Hobby. GOD BLESS YOU
Good idea to not ride. The cold seems to bother me more every year. Models are a good idea for winter. Stay warm Bro.🎸🍵
I agree with you, no more riding until spring for me to!😢
My mom had a 67 Goat, man that was a fun car.

God Bless and Merry Christmas
Nice vid Mark.. Your house is amazing..
you got me ! I quit riding also when they put the spray on the road
We need nearly a month of rain here in Central New York to wash the salt off the roads in the spring. I agree, road salt on bare roads is a serious issue for a motorcycle.
They don't use salt here in Colorado. They put down a mix of small gravel and Mag chloride.
It's 61 freezing wasteland degrees here in the FL Keys this morning...likely icebergs out there...
We had snow Saturday which was yesterday so I won’t ride until it rains but the bikes are on the tenders . 😎
Yes it's worth it
Thanks mark

Thanks for the tips.
Become a snowbird and come out to Arizona or Florida for the winter
He'll yes Mark keep the harley out of the salt. Ride safe brother.
Don't worry about insulating that little garage. Just build a garage like your brothers!
I wish!
I thought they weren't allowed to use salt anymore

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It wouldn’t be hard to close off and insulate your work space. 👍
The main issue on that is finances right now.
You'll quit riding when you pass! Wait! Maybe not even then😂😂😂😂

I rode in winter. My Road King's tranny and rear brake caliper turned green! and cars would splash slush all over me!
That's either hard core or...
