It has been 4 months of owning the car trying to get this engine bay open. What an anticipated moment hearing that engine cover latch click upon pressing the button. Man. Words can't even describe it.

Can't even explain how crazy that moment was. That was a legit reaction, and I had to check to make sure the camera was rolling because I almost didn't even film it, thinking it wouldn't work like the last 3,391 times I've pressed the button hahaha But that POP just changed my life for the better
I replayed the footage you ain't kidding me....this was staged 😂😂😂
@@skeelo69 yeah filmed it like 13 times before I got a natural looking reaction I was happy with!!
I was both as ecstatic as you when it finally opened, then as disappointed as your wife at how little you can see... 😂😂
It was a ride.
Wow big bro
Don't for get the driver door lock
I'm blown away (impressed) at how you're able to do do the work on this thing... I'm mechanically inclined and I wouldn't have the first clue how to do this stuff!! Great work!
Came to the comments to see if anyone mentioned the oil being “milky” to see if anyone brought up the fact that you might have a bad head gasket. If you’re getting coolant in the oil on a normal car, it’s usually an indication that the car overheated at one point and cooked that gasket . Excessive white smoke is another indicator.. I’m not a mechanic so I hope I’m wrong. Love watching this build
That is the first thing I thought when I saw that milky oil coming out. If the car has an oil to water heat exchanger and it got compromised that could also cause the contamination of the oil with coolant. Fingers crossed it's not a head gasket.
He started it up in an past episode and it wasn’t chugging smoke so maybe not. But it was only running a short time so it’s possible the cooling system didn’t pressurize and force itself past the gasket. Or there’s just not enough coolant.
Regardless, I have a bad feeling this engine is gonna have to come out.
Coolant was all clear when I got the car, and the oil doesn't seem milky, just waaay past service interval. That's the hope at least. 🙌🏽 If the engine comes out, so be it. We'll get it running!
Really enjoying these videos! Will be interesting to see what the oil analysis is. Not undertaken an oil change where the old oil had that type of consistency but I’ve only owned normal’ cars! 😊
Leaning over so far to reach the engine must be really annoying, I used to work on a Boxster that was similarly restricted. I guess taking the whole rear of the car off first gives you much better access?
Video liked because of that honest reaction.
Now that youve got that engine cover latch working, now would be a good time to engineer an emergency release. Use either a cable, or an auxiliary wire and switch that you can power up with a jumper box.
Cant wait to see this beast running down the street. You've done an excellent job so far, with ine of the most complicated rebuilds a man can take on.
The fact that there's no simple mechanical bypass to get the engine lid open is absolutely batshit insane.
Like, come on. I've actually been thinking about getting a 12C but things like this are just nuts even for a quirky exotic car.
I was thinking the same thing. Absolutely bonkers it takes so much work to open a hood. I get its an exotic "super car" but wtf. The engine bay should always be accessible. Would absolutely hate a car like this, but they probably only want there own tech's working on them.
It is. Jump the fuse or wiring. Seat must go out.
Hell of a job, man!! I felt that excitement of getting the engine latch open through my phone 😂 Can’t wait to see the next video. Congrats!
Thanks dude!! Looking forward to that sweet first drive!!
The interior looks way better, just an FYI you’re not supposed to leave cars on a pump jacks for a long time. Jack stands are the safe way.
There are jack stands under it, just like it higher.
Hey Inja,Could you maybe get your old door panels into a restoration shop ? Would be worth keeping.Awesome work on the McLaren.👌🏼🏴
That’s what makes it so hard to work on these cars because depending on the model you have some of the models you have to take the whole body off in order to get access to the engine so that’s probably what your problem is. You’re probably have to take the body off.
Solid work the door panels look awesome! Stoked to watch your progress keep on grinding
Will do 💯
Love this channel.....lil bit goonzquad , a lil bit suronster
Very inspiring. Im still working on my own Ducati build from your previous videos. Got my battery finished up and working on mounting it to the frame. I guess I need to find a wrecked supercar to do next 😂
So sick! Glad we have some content for you that helps!
Congrats on getting the engine bay open!!
Thanks a ton! Getting it back together now for the first drive!
@@TheInja That's exciting to hear!! I can't wait to see it in action!!
You will also want to buy a special tool to pull the vacuum on your antifreeze. That way you get all the air pockets out
I heard you say when you reached for the socket “10 millilitre” 😂 metric measurements are so confusing
Nice work there, keep it going, breaking same car with same color
I m very happy for you mate! 🥳👍
You're just legendary, felt your relief when that hood opened 🎉 well done.
Appreciate you 🫡
I was recommended your channel because of the McLaren \, I have watched all 7 parts and just waiting it to be on road !!
It's so close!! Looking forward to firing it up. Just got the sketchy oil analysis back ...can't wait to show you guys. 😆
@@TheInja Im excited too !!!
Some say the engine bay will now stay forever open because he is too scared to close it again.
Legend has it he removed it from the car entirely
😂
So entertaining to watch. 👍🏻💪🏻 Gives me so much inspiration. Need to get the Supra finished.
Do it!!! 🔥
Gotta love it when a plan comes together 🤟👽🔧🎬
That's the best part of any project 😏
oil sample comes back with a note saying " sir are you putting wheat grass in your engine?" 🤣
😂 "for your own health, stop drinking this!"
Coming along fine mate cheers
The second that engine cover popped I bet so much stress released for you. Hopefully you don't find rodent damage from it sitting for so long. The black hood with the unpainted white fenders reminded me of Need for Speed Most Wanted and the cop supercars.
Ah man, totally forgot about the cop cars in NFS back in the day. Good times. 💯
Everything as far as wiring and rodent damage (haven't found any) looks to be in good shape! And we now know the wiring harness is fully operational now that the engine latches work. 🙌🏽
You finally did open the engine bay. Congrat!!
I’ve been waiting for this, let’s goooo !!!!
SO PUMPED
First drive next week????? 😏😏😏😏😏
Inja ma boi was all week thinking when is the coming a new video, and there it is. Loving the series.
More videos coming quick on this thing! 🙌🏽
Great update! I hope the oil comes back just old, and you can just replace and fire her up. Fingers crossed!
Yep, very much looking forward to the report this coming week 😌
Great job, I was super happy for you when that engine cover popped.
What a moment. 💯
I would actually consider just keeping the hood black. Might look cool with the black details together with that nice deep red...
Yeah! Agreed! Might look awesome in carbon fiber, too. Good dark contrast, with lots of carbon fiber on the back of the car, too.
Just follow the user manual instructions on the Daytona jack to bleed it. I would put money on the fact that will fix it and stop it from losing height over time.
I’m new subscriber to your channel men love your content and I love how great full and humble you are, love that you get your wife involved, we need more of that I love when my wife get involved to, keep going men we need more content like yours.
Praise the Lord....the engine bay is open. Time for a oil change.
For sure. Satisfying knowing we're taking all this junk out and putting fresh stuff in. 💯
I'm just here for the "freaking" 😂😂
Let's goooooo
Great work brother 🦾🦾🤩
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looks like the car's been on a five-year spa vacation! 🚗💆♂😂
Hahaha
You're doing a great job. Really excited for you.
Appreciate that, Paul! Hope you're loving the videos. 🔥
OH MAN! congrats on that darn engine bay!!!! Keeping my fingers cross for the oil analysis!!! 🤓🤓 LET'S GGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!!!!
I know I don’t have to tell you, but DONT CLOSE THAT ENGINE BAY!!!
Hahaha going to weld that sucker open permanently 😂
Omg, I remember my first time taking one apart, some makes total sense then next the part can go in upside down.
How about that oil that was wild!
And on the hood, they make a “Carbon” PPF that looks legit
Keep it up I enjoy the videos
For sure!
Probably will paint the hood to match the car, then wrap it. I'll check out the ppf!
Keep crushing it, love this series man
Glad to have you along on the ride with me 👊🏽
Awesome dude, been fighting with that for a while. Now maybe someday you'll be able to help someone else dealing with the similar issue. Going to be awesome and worth it when you're done. You'll know the car inside and out 😎
Facts on facts 💯
Thanks Dartman!
Hey you mentioned you want to wrap the hood carbon fibre, check out a guy on YT called CK Wraps, he demonstrated a new carbon wrap that is impossible to tell from the real thing!!! Once you see this wrap you won't want any other carbon wrap again!
Yeah I saw him do that one! Pretty cool!
Great video 👌💪
Flying forward! Looking brilliant, hopefully the engine and transmission arr all good
🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
4:57 😂😊
Im pretty sure that Tavarish has all manuals for the car ,also Legit Street cars .
LMAO, guess I can stop trying to find how to open the engine bay. OK, just saw the your reaction to the opening pop now to get back to the video....
Congrats on getting it open. Still watching
Thanks 🔥🔥
@@TheInja You're welcome. I remember just a few years ago busting your balls over not knowing how a valve stem core worked. You've come a long way. Congrats on the baby too.
Absolutely incredible💯 im just sad coz no cliffhanger this time😂
I like the black hood. Suits the car color.
Love your content and this rebuild is amazing. Looking forward for the next video. #keepdoingdamage
Good news!
When that Campbell's chunky soup came running out of the engine, i cringed a little. Good luck my man 😅
Looking good!
I mean, should I even continue to watch, now that this thing is open?! 😂
I mean the series is basically done now 🤷🏽♀️
26:48 - 26:58 Gyat damn!
He will not close that engine bay until the project is finished, I guarantee that! xD Good job man, keep going!
Hahaha thanks dawg! 😆
Glad to see one of my fellow Auto heads actually using android. What app setting are you using with your PEN to set it up like that with the checkboxes
S22 Ultra, notes app, it has some options for Text notes with check boxes, etc. 💯
Dude when you called your mom out to see the hood open, she looked really surprised.
That'll be the mother of his kids, known as his wife!
@@ZafiraSteve hahaha
Underhanded compliment of the year award 🏆
@@TheInja Bro. I didn't insult your mom or say she was ugly. I don't understand? I respect all elders.
EXCELLENT WORK BRO!
🔥🔥🔥
Change oil drain it and put fresh synthetic in it 👍
That's the plan! 🙌🏽
That was awesome
Good to see the progress on this car, but oh that oil looks bad
Yep.
Oil sample!? Looked more like mud to me. Crazy that the engine could even run with that sludge in there.
Yeah...can't believe someone could do that to a car. Crazy
I love it
So you need to have an ABS module connected to be able to open the engine bay? Wow, am I glad I don't own a McLaren, just downright unbelievable.
cooling lines are just cooling lines, you can literally make one
That's the plan 🔥
Buddy I promise that the engine bay would not be able to latch again until I have finished everything else!😂😂😂
😂😂
definitely a jigsaw puzzle.
Only a few pieces left, and like a jigsaw puzzle, it gets easier the closer it comes to completion. 🙌🏽
@@TheInja im in the same boat as you but on my channel it's a 1999 Avenger.
Awesome, baby steps lol doing great 😎👍
Gettin there 👍🏽🐢
to open the engine bay. You have to take the whole back body of the car off. That’s how you work on the engine you take the whole body off.
Didn’t surprise me how bad the oil looked, you said it hasn’t been serviced since 2019.
For sure.
im so jealous
Are you gonna wrap it?
new jacks require hydraulic fluid just fyi lol...thats why it collapsed. its int he user manual none of us never read
Nah these are all filled and ready to jack!
Where does the name the Inja come from?
do you like the red stripe on the alcantara door panels?
I actually really like the red stripe, the pillars are alcantara so it blends riiiight in!!
@TheInja you're right. It looks so good.
Can't wait to see what you do with it. Keep up the good work.
Yantu A22 put it on a large sidewall tyre you won't be saying it's quick then
Well sure, the bigger the tire obviously the longer it takes
Your gunna hate putting the coolant into that car just ask mat Armstrong it’s a nightmare
We shall see!!
@@TheInja yeah it’s got something to do with how the tanks sit or something and there common for getting air locks even with the vacuum system
@@releasedmike good to know, I'll do what I can!
@@releasedmike thanks for the tip!
@@TheInja no problem at all my friend I love your videos and I watch Matt all the time I sit and watch you all wishing that I could be in a position like you and able to afford these nice motors and I like your house with the garage as well your doing well for yourself and I’m sure you’re end up at the top next to mat and the other big UA-cam car lads
Man I’m so happy for you that engine bay was starting to stress me too 🤣🤣
Bro for real!! Thanks dawg!
@@TheInja No problem bro. I look forward to every new update when you post…. Let’s Goo!!
Easy fix if only all was so easy
Just needed a little Injanuity!
Nothing a huge brain can't solve!!! 🧠
Open engine bay has to be ticked in the phone
Milky oil = blown head gasket. Hope not.🙏
What checklist app is that?
The native one on my Samsung S22 Ultra!
You should really try to hook up with someone from the U.K might be easier to get parts .
Have some contacts and been using eBay UK/AU. Most things 3rd parties are selling, besides eBay, is still expensive!
make tuse to see oil
@The inja you should call it the mckaren after all the trouble & how much a pain in the ass it has been😂😊
Hahahaha that's actually hilarious
@@TheInjaDDE Damon already calls his Senna that. He already ordered the Candian license plate. 😂
@ripn929707 yeah but nobody has done it in America yet having that license plate on a mclaren would be so funny 😁 seeing drive down the road 😂 🤣
@@ripn929707 freakin DAMON. taking all the good ideas from us common folk
@@michaelross749 I'll see if it's available 😏
lessgo finally
🙌🏽🙌🏽
nice vidd ❤
Don´t wrap the hood please. Particularly not in carbon. Enough carbon on the vehicle already, and blending real carbon performance items with fake carbon wrap, detracts immensely from the overall appearance. Have the hood painted and color matched properly, along with the two front fenders, the front bumper and the side mirrors. Yes the side mirror housings! It would look pristine. And congrats on finding the new door panels. The Alcantara with the red stripe looks awesome, and actually better, than the original. Well done.
Or…..you could buy one yourself and do what you want🤷♂️
👍👍👍👍
so from now on you will only run this car with the engine bay open? 🤔
Only way to do it 😌
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
A power prove to the connector on the driver's side bottom wiring connector would have opened it.
Tried braiding the wires previously, no results. Probably runs to the ECU, then to the latches.
😆 bad Oil
