I save those tiny bits of fusible in a container and when I have a tissue pattern that I love and want to use repeatedly, I fuse those to the back crazy quilt style with just a smidge of overlap.
Interfacing on the back of tissue paper is somewhat magical. It folds up easier and doesn’t take up any more space. It doesn’t get damaged by pins anymore. It smooths out nice and flat onto your fabric and doesn’t shift around.
If I don’t have enough interfacing scraps to cover the whole back, I make sure that I get some on all the edges I might want to put a pin into and a few pieces scattered in the middle. In all honesty though … if I’m really going to be using a pattern a lot, I have been known to go buy brand new interfacing to cover the back because I truly love how it changes that paper into a more durable and easy to use pattern. My time has value and more than covers the cost of some cheap interfacing.

These are excellent and amazing tips Cynthia! And all new to me. I do use bits of interfacing and overlap them when I don't have a big enough piece but reinforcing with tissue paper is brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Janet - I hope my lesson learned saves someone else the trouble. I'm really glad I picked out the straight stitching and re-did it with the blanket stitch. It looked so much better.

It was nice to see how the straight topstitching looked vs. the blanket stitch. I agree with you in the final decision to use the blanket stitch. Nice look with quilting, too! Thanks for the tips!

Thank you for the video. I want to make myself a table runner and thus might be the pattern.
Lately I’ve been making fabric out of my scraps and I actually used my lemon peel this week. The scraps with a few additional matching fabrics would make a cute matching pillow cover to match the table runner;)

Hi Janice - I hope you will give it a try! It wasn't too challenging. And learn from my mistake in terms of finishing the edges - use a zig zag or blanket stitch rather than just a straight stitch. Thanks for watching.

Great video Michelle,, instead of trimming that seam allowance, i cut around it with pinking shears.... no need to cut notches for the turn around.
the burrs on the under side of the sewing; i find that only happens to me when i use the machines, thread cutter. After each use of the the thread cutter - the next sewing I start gets that burr. Same happens with my Janome. When I cut the threads with my snips there's no burr.
technology is marvelous(er) in one way than another??? 😍
The table runner looks great!!! xoxo e.

Hi Vee - these are amazing insights!! I will definitely experiment with the cutter and see if just clipping makes a difference with the bird's nests I end up with. I never thought of that as a reason, but it makes sense. And pinking shears are also an excellent idea! Thanks so much!

Hi MIchelle! Of course I have this template, I think I have them all, lol! Your runners are beautiful; that fabric is spectacular. Your instructions and helpful hints were spot on. When you showed the runner at the beginning, I thought, I'd use a decorative stitch on the edge, and sure enough, you did that. I think I remembered that from a similar result I had in the past. Well done!
