At 25:25 min using hand towels in guest bath. I have that same phobia at someone’s home and dry on my clothes. Glad I’m not alone on that. My solution , because I love to sew is: I bought a very large white bath towel at Walmart for $3.97 and cut it into 16 equal pieces then backed it with pretty scrap fabric that I had on hand and some I just used fabric binding. They’re about 12” x 6” each. I roll them up in a cute basket next to the sink with an empty basket on the back of the toilet to put their used ones. Problem solved 😊

I feel your pain, literally! I try to clean just 1 room (or zone, like living/dining area) per day, so I don't exhaust myself cleaning the whole house at once. I do one load of laundry per day so that doesn't get away on me. Hope this helps a bit.

I used to hate cleaning bathrooms. I was angry because the men in the family left it so skanky and I felt they should clean up their mess. I finally decided that it would be my job exclusively including replacing toilet paper ( always done correctly over not under). Now the bathrooms stay clean consistently because I clean daily. I also refuse to allow things to be left out. If they complain about something put away they were going to use I simply remind them to pull it out, use it, and put it away. Of course my husband is in charge of all cooking and does vacuuming. It is amazing when you divide tasks into things that fit your personality.

    • @LynO5392
      @LynO5392 5 місяців тому

I do the same now. I put all of my stuff in a wooden bin, in the closet and did the same for my husband. He was fine with it because the bathroom now looks clean and amazing every single day and only takes me a few minutes. I also use less toilet bowl cleaner because every 3 days I just squeeze a little into the toilet and scrub up the sides, let it sit 10 min then scrub again and flush. No more hard water stains to tackle

Adding a bit of cornstarch to the DIY glass cleaner is a new twist! The previous recipe for it on the Clean My Space 50 DIY Cleaning recipes just has 1 cup white vinegar, 1 cup water and drops of essential oil optional. I'll try some cornstarch the next time I clean mirrors and windows.

Condensation is caused by warm moist air contacting the cold walls. We always had mold on the bathroom ceiling and walls from the shower even though we ran the exhaust fan during showers. So I put a Vornado fan/heater and pointed it from across the room to the mold-prone wall. This prevented condensation and mold. It eleminated the need to run the exhaust fan. After a shower, we left the door open and the moisture dissapated throughout the house and the heat pump dried it up. Never had mold again.

I think for me, the tub/shower is the hardest to clean, mainly because of both the physical and mental gymnastics needed. It’s really tight space in my bathroom, so I have to bend in awkward ways to get at things. And then when you have to actually climb in to clean, I kind of hit the ‘ick’-mode, thinking about the cleaning product AND dirt touching my feet as I clean. I have to keep reminding myself that it’s not much different than actually washing your feet when you’re taking a shower. 😂

I just discovered your channel recently and just love it. When I moved into this house 40 years ago one of my concerns was the white grout in both bathrooms, neither with windows. I asked my sister, whose home was always immaculate, what I could do to control mold and mildew. She told me to rub lemon oil furniture polish into the grout lines. Believe it or not, these grout lines are as white today as when I moved in. I can't explain it, but I am thankful. The only darkness was the corners where the tile met the tub/shower.

In regards to being more ecologically friendly, I have concerns regarding microfiber cloths. In my research, I have found that they give off microplastics when washed. Those microplastics never disappear from our waterways.

A good tip for having good quality thick microfiber cloths is to buy ones which say for car and home. I am so happy with using them to dry utensils, glasses and dishes ( no dishwasher) that I now dry everything off quickly and no longer leave dishes standing on counter racks which always got standing water , limescale and dirty. I now make sure all dishes are dried and stowed away and dish racks clear and dry. Leaving dishes to pile up for days in my sink, living alone, used to be my routine misery but in the last month I have new habits and feel so much happier going into my kitchen .this may sound like a small thing but I am quite ill, have no help,no dishwasher and things can just pile up for me .keeping on top of my kitchen mess every time I eat or drink now makes me feel better.

I had to scrub the sink 3 times a day, there were always water drops and it was spots of hand soap (and we have oily water in city). Then I tried the cillit bang with which I didn't have to brush as often but I still had to do it once a day. After many attempts and irritation, I took the toilet gel and scrubbed with it, and I tried to find in store the mildies and cheap as possible. I dont leave it on sink longer than 2 minutes. And now I have water drops every 4 days, and its shines for 4 days and I'm so happy 🤗 I do it now for 2 months, so I can't tell if is destroy a sink or not 😆

I swear by Viakal. It's a descaler spray made by Procter and Gamble. Spray, scrub it in gently, wait 5 minutes and rinse. Taps, fittings, tiles, glass, shower, and even the toilet bowl for fast limescale removal and it has a gorgeous smell too which lasts for ages. It also has a protectant which helps prevent limescale build up. Makes everything look brand new too. Not for gold, marble, brass or copper fittings though.

Wet cloth, hand wipe sides of toilet, and floor area behind the toilet. A wet paper towel is adequate, weekly, once you do a "starter" deep clean. And that's just adding a spray or two of all purpose cleaner, to loosen any stuck on, older dirt.

Agree, griut cleaning can be more complicated, if it's been a long time. A light scrub brush, cloth towel or new sponge ro wipe up. Sealing grout helps. You can also regrout an area, if the color always looks dirty.

Add diatomaceous earth to your baking soda for deoderant. Even make a past with coconut oil. Works perfectly

Check out your local pet store. They have multiple products for pet urine stain and/or odor. It could possibly work on human urine also. Worth a try.

When we moved into our apartment we were told that the (former white) tub is just old and just looks a little stained. This thing was beige. Not all the way but sprinkles of beige and brown. First I thought well ok. I cleaned it with a basic product, it didn’t come off, but I was fine. Then it got worse over time and I got some heavy product with bleach. Turns out that the freaking tub is actually still white and there’s just been so much gunk that it didn’t come off right away 😵‍💫😭

I don't squeegee because i hate to do it when I'm ready to just get out of the shower, especially in winter. Plus, my husband won't do it....ever. not gonna happen lol. You never talk about dark tiles and dark grout … how do you get that clean? You can’t use any vinegar based cleaners … I use baking soda and soap … but it never really breaks thru the calcium deposits … white film … and I have softened water! Never use dark tiles … save it for the show room. I’ll never do that again.

I know what you mean about leaving a parcel. I can't blame anybody in particular, but you get the occasional person who just leaves a horrendous smell. That really makes me not want to go in there for a long time. There is a window that people could open, There is a bathroom spray in there and it annoys me when it only takes a minute to get the toilet brush out and to leave the toilet bowl respectable.

A dirty house is not something to kill yourself over dear. You sound organized and a clean person. That's something to be proud of! Just do what you can, small areas and the rest you will have to mentally let go and dream of the time you can live on your own. You can think anything into existence! Pray to God also and ask him to take the burden from you.
