Wow cool! I’ve never seen how they get those boats in and out. Learned something new.
So glad your friend was able to quickly diagnose it! You must have let out a big groan when it wouldn’t start!

Hello, Happy Saturday!! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to send a question!! I am still very new to sailing so it’s hard for me to give you good review. I have seen this written about them..
Island Traders are known for their seaworthy nature, strength and comfort. This heavy displacement Bluewater sailing vessel was built for crossing oceans.
Since she is a Ketch Rig she is easier to Solo Sail. Overall, I know she will be slow and not point into the wind very well…. But she was not built for speed.. she is built for comfort especially in somewhat heavy Seas 🌊 … overall she is definitely a Beautiful Boat. In episode #3 I Do a boat tour video…. I hope that helps..
Thanks again and please subscribe if you have not already.. Take care..

Beautiful boat. I have my eye on an Island Trader 38 right now. What's your experience with her in winds from 10 to 12 knots? I know there's concern about light air performance, but, I'm looking for insight into someone who actually sails one. Thanks.

Hello 👋 Thanks much for watching and for leaving a comment!!! Please take a moment to subscribe if you haven’t already done so…
I hear they don’t point well into the wind and yes light air performance is not good! I am still basically a newbie and I I haven’t really sailed her that much.. on a solo trip from Bay City to East Tawas I motor sailed here there and back in about 10 knot winds.. She certainly wasn’t built for speed. But she is still honestly Bad Ass!!! 😎!!!
There is a Facebook group called “Friends of the Island Trader 37 & Magellan 36”. There are fellow sailors in the group with substantially more experience under their belt than me..
