Age of consent laws does not mean adults can sleep with a 13 y/o lmao. It just means the law recognizes that you can consent to your peers...meaning within a couple or few years of each other.
That's not what japanese law is. It is literally any age can sleep with any age after 13. And that's not even the grossest part, it was so long ago they changed the law from 11 to 13. Also what you're talking about is called a double bracketed age of consent, we have it in Australia, where once you're 16 you can consent to sex with someone up to but not over the age of 18, and once you reach 18 you can then consent to sex with someone of any age over 18. Japan does not have that, Thier laws make it very specific in fact that anyone of ay age can sleep with anyone over the age of 13. It's sick.
That's difficult, it's more that most people don't know. It takes a lot of digging to find out what a creator is up to compared to consuming the product.
Nux my boy , back in the days of b/w ASTRO boy ,many creeps were salivating over his Lil sister. So only the innocent people did not see the darkness around them .
The worst part about the watsuki debacle was how every major Mangaka made a comment in the magazine warmly welcoming him back and congratulating him on his return after he was charged. They all know what he did and yet acted like he'd just been on vacation.. shit's fucked bruh.
These people were friends, and it was probably hard for them to believe this. It’s a weird respect thing as well for the professional side of people’s life. Japan also just thinks about how people work differently.
Man, I love Nux, but hearing his sounds of pain in each revelation was kinda sad. Cause imagine, your childhood thing was written by a scumbag. It breaks people. Also, Nux confusion on why they never got punished is because this law is more common throughout Asia. Like in China and Korea, punishment for r@pist, p@dos, and killers are very low. Crimes like robbing a bank or forgetting to pay something will give you a high punishment.
This is so surreal seeing John Leigh’s name on your channel. I actually had an incident with him when he was still running Planet Zero when I was like 19-20.

21:48 the point of prison is to rehabilitate criminals in a wy that they are no longer a threat society or themselves. Punishment for punishments sake won't help anyone

The tentacles thing has nothing to do with anime, it goes back to traditional Japanese pornography in other words Apparently someone didn't do their research properly And the guy is usually a member of a community so proud of it that they do really good research obviously not welcome to the news
wasn't it something to do with dick censorship in Japan? basically if they use something that only looks like a dick... it doesn't need to be censored. and with that the tentacle porn was born lol
Well in general if it isn't about internet scandals or american celebrities doing some fucked up shit take Turkey Tom's videos with a grain of salt. His coverage of the author of Oshiete Galko-chan kinda exemplifies it. While he's generally right he also implies him to be racist without really reading any of his work and considering his comments on Oshiete Galko-chan he never read or watched it as while the author is a piece of shit the manga itself is pretty wholesome.
Punishments like that and then being suspended are very common in the US as well, but they are also put in a Registry, when they need to be in a designated Woodchipper
Rurouni Kenshin was the first anime that I watched when I was a kid and to find out that the creator behind it has done gives me a bitter taste in my mouth
It's so sad cuz Ruroni Kenshin was 1 of my three favorite shows as a kid along with Dragon Ball Z and Yu-Yu Hakusho before I knew I was even watching anime and the scandal has tarnished it in my mind but I do remember that alot of other people besides him worked on it such as artists and VA so I don't completely X it from my mind
That was a weird and kinda poor attempt at tying real world crime to anime, yeah some anime fans are criminals but do this with priest, politicians, writers, directors, literally any large fandom or hobby and you will find just as much if not more of this kind of behavior. The really poor sentencing in Japan sounds like a major issue but I failed to see how it had anything to do with anime, it's a culture issue. The major mangaka that were mentioned didn't even put any of their grossness into their work, it was entirely unrelated. Ruroni Kenshin for example gives literally no impression whatsoever of the creators gross interests. I really don't get what this video was attempting to prove but I'm confident that it failed to do so.
I don’t think the video was that deep. This guy has a (subject/fandom) degenerates series of with a lot of fandoms so he’s not really painting anime specifically in a bad light. Though this video seemed oddly off topic with most of his examples seeming to be anime artists who just happened to be degenerates rather than keeping to the subject of the anime fandom. Would’ve liked if he found stuff like the max cringe anime things.
@@pokemongo-py6yq I guess. I'm not familiar with the creator, it just seemed like the point was to show that there are more degenerates of the criminal ilk among anime fans and it kinda just... didn't. It didn't even really correlate anime and the criminal behavior at all, he pretty much looked specifically at people related to anime, pointed out the ones who were creepers and left it at that. Still, maybe I'm just fussed because anime tends to get those kinds of accusations a lot and there's basically never anything to back it up, it gets a bit exhausting after a while.
the poor sentencing seems to be about on pare to that of teacher in the US that get caught, with a few months of house arrest and 50/50 of going on the registry
@@Dormons With a sentence that low in the US I'd guess there were some kind of odd circumstances, not enough proof or the perpetrator was some kinda wealthy or well known. My favorite part of the video is how tom is useing a song form death note. And how the composer of death note is probably still in jail in Japan because he had some weed on him and got something like 15 years because of it.
Yeah, where do you think the gyaru hentai comes from Nux? The late 80s and 90s were wild with highschool girls doing prostitution. The worst part is that most didn't do it out of need. Some had frivolous reasons, others said "it's to deal with stress and make easy cash". Places like Shibuya and Shinjuku were plagued with this...
@@ozarazil5745 So am I. Girls in Japan did it to try and Mimic what they thought the Stereotype American High School Girl looked like. Sad part is that now the Stereotype of a Gyaru is that she is Lose and does Compensation Dating, but its often just that, a Stereotype.
9:04 One prefecture, that consists of 5 people, use that minimum age of consent. The rest of the country, sanely has a higher age of consent, 16 to 18.
Man if tom thinks the manga industry has some creeps wait until he discovers Hollywood. Also him having an issue with big booba high school manga is odd to me, considering how many highschool tv shows that have fairly risque content.
Tom's only 22, so he's obviously pretty naive about these things. Sad thing is he seems to be going down the same route so many others his age do when it comes to the things featured in manga and anime: Blindly hating it.
Anime has about the same percentage of degeneracy as furry... so about 100%. That includes YOU, Nux... since your're both a weeb AND a furry! Hence the Renamon shrine in your basement. XD
Given Japan's age of consent the reason Toriko's author basically got off unscathed was probably because the actual crime was prostitution not the age of the prostitute or something like that
Want Nux to watch Cracked's After Hours, Ruining Your Favourite Sitcoms With Simple Math after this. Interesting things to say about the timeline of the Cosby Show.
Honestly, the number of people getting defensive in the comments is really, frustrating. Clearly missing the point of the original work. That said, I love seeing Nux react to Turkey Tom. I'd watched Nux awhile back on my second monitor while gaming, dropped him for awhile out of nowhere, but Tom's video on the Nux/Nyanners controversy put this place back on my radar. Feels good just seeing it come full circle.
The point of prison is supposed to be rehabilitation of people who have failed to follow the law. The idea that long minimum sentences are a good way to protect people or to reduce crime/recidivism rates just statistically incorrect but it survives because “tough on crime” plays well in politics.
Y'know, I think I can agree with this. But it requires a prison system that actually focuses on the rehabilitation part, and I suspect that that might just be too dang expensive🎉 what a shame
@@thierrydecker8110 It is actually less expensive in the long run, less recidivism and no silly long sentencing means much less incarcerated population as well as much less value lost to crime.
The issue is in the states a lot of our economy is backed up by prison labor I'm not defending that I very much want prison reform but I doubt they ever will
Eh there's places where they work on rehabilitation. However in some cases you'll find people who don't see a need to change. Like those people will always continue the same crime. System here says jail is a punishment, a time for self reflection and then after you get out you actually work with guidance from a social worker to settle into society normally again. Mostly to avoid over population in jail.
There is lot to be argued about how seriously messed up all people in the video mentioned and speaking are... There is a ton of missing details, refusal to accept other people's views, and general wrongness to go around.
Dude I hate this, It makes my blood boil, Imagine being the parent's of the victim, heck imagen being the parents of the manga writes, how must they feel after hearing the news. not just that but also it affects the way people see a fandom, and heck Iven how people see other people. its a true tragedy what society has become. Fourth comment, more people need to start suing people for sexual harassment. They can reimburse people for emotional distress. Or at least I think they should.
Toriko one was a big punch to the gut, it isn't as big as Dragon Ball or One Piece, but that it could cross over with not just one but both said a lot. I mean I do always say, you can hate the artist, but still like the art, I mean look at Michael Jackson's accusations, Mozart with his poo and fetish for his cousin, or Da Vinci... but still doesn't hurt less especially if you grew up with that art.
For the second case: The age of consent is apparently 13 years and the prostitute was 16 years old. Still a child, but not totally ignorant nor vulnerable as one Its morally wrong, but not as bad as the first guy
Wrll that was uh, not what I was expecting when I saw the thumbnail I'm gonna go wash out this pain with cringe pain of something that isn't hurting people
The entire channel of the person making the video being reacted to is garbage. There are a lot of people in any community, and statistcally some of those people are serial killers. He makes some blanket statements at the beginning that, while not necessarily true, sound plausible because they fit a subset of the community. He then talks about these specific cases, with the implication that they work with the first few blanket statements to reflect the community as a whole. This is a willfully negligent misrepresentation, targeted at those who want to hate weebs. If you look at his channel it's nothing but videos like this, claiming all these different fandoms are bad, each trying to appeal to the specific audience looking for a reason to hate said fandom. In bowing to his target, however, he writes what they want to see rather than an honest depiction. I'm not trying to say the people in the video are innocent. They were bad people. They did bad things. However, I find the implication from the title and intro that they are in any way representative to be a complete misrepresentation pandering to fans. It's like writing an essay about why french cuisine is better than american cuisine, and instead of making an actual argument you say "the ingredients for french food are made locally, where they have a specific type of cow." This seems like it could become an actual argument, but it needs to go somewhere and be proven by any means, but then you say "and also I had like three good french meals so uhhhh I think that proves french food is good bye." It's so dumb. I've become the random angry person on the internet...
I agree. He talks only about the Anime Industry instead of the community. Don't get me wrong the industry has some fucked up practices but he clickbates his video as if he's talking about the community.
I get you with that last sentence but you said what we were all thinking , props! I don't like the fact that these kinds of videos get views. I don't like the video being reacted to either my dude.
It's really nothing new. People try this stuff with anime all the time, and it never holds up, even if you limit things from "anime" to "loli" or "guro" or any other extreme type. It's honestly hardly any different from the people that tried to blame school shootings on GTA. Sure, chances are that a lot of criminals that do those sorts of things will enjoy works about them, but that doesn't mean that enjoying those works makes you more likely to want to do any such thing.
ya i agree turkeytom is sht like my guy attacked internetajay for no fcking reason saying he's cringe (which is true) but that led to him leaving youtube even tho he did nothing wrong

I am an avid reader, the only japanease things I read are some light novels. I was shocked with the amount of explicit things in manga when I tried to read it (the only manga I love and found ok was death note). I am used to read violent/gore things, I like to read old books and they are often pretty violent. But I can't belive how much sexual thing there is. It like, if all the violence of 16th to 19th centuries western books was replaced by sexual things. When sex is aproched in western books, it is often implicit (and offscreen) but in japanease books it is often if not always explicit and onscreen. Maybe I am just prude but I stop trying to read manga after a few months because of that.
Yeah, I feel that part kind of a reach. I mean, if tom finds it uncomfortable, then fine. He's entitled to his opinion. However, if we were to list every anime with busty high schools girls, we'll be here all day.
I still don't, and probably never will, understand why this is such a controversial subject to people. On every conceivable level the only thing that matters is whether or not it's real. And answer is that if it's fake or fictional, there are no taboos. It's really that simple.

So why did Actage itself need to end? I hadn't heard of it myself before now, and the offender himself should have been punished, certainly, but why should the employees and consumers be punished for his actions, as well? I have issues with Florida, but one thing they got right is putting child preditors who have harmed children up for the death penalty if found guilty, and if the jury votes no to the death penalty the criminal will be kept in prison forever. That way the victim never ever has to worry about that person hurting them ever again.

I dunno, some of Tom's comments are kind of weird. For the Toriko author, yes what he did was absolutely wrong and should have probably served more time. But do people not get a chance to have a life after punishment even if it's not as much of one we in the west would consider? And then the comments of the one author drawing lewd images of his manga character were strange because "drawn cp" isn't really what that is because it's not using any actual children or even referencing them, it's not illegal even if some may consider it weird. They're just drawings.

It's sick.

The separation of art and artist is real. You can hate the artists for what they've done, but still enjoy their work.
That's difficult, it's more that most people don't know. It takes a lot of digging to find out what a creator is up to compared to consuming the product.

The funny thing about a "reverse blade sword" if that you can beat a man to death with a blunt rod of iron...
This is so surreal seeing John Leigh’s name on your channel. I actually had an incident with him when he was still running Planet Zero when I was like 19-20.

Apparently, Osamu Tezuka also did DORORO and Black Jack (both of which have their own live-action movies). Not a one-hit wonder
Tezuka is like one of the GOATs. He has done a lot of excellent and influential manga and anime. He wrote a manga based on Buddha, and the Old Testament as well, and the unfinished work of Phoenix is considered a masterpiece. He’s extremely prolific
@@thomasffrench3639 He died only like a month after I'd just discovered his work, the 2019 Dororo! And turns out Black Jack got adapted into, like, a shitton of episodes and movies over the decades. Tezuka also did other stuff. And more on the Wikipedia page.

@@rollzmoist5061 Yes It was about how avoid censorship
Or they were a woman but honestly then I would be more surprised they even got that much of a punishment. i would say that anime is just the japanese Hollywood because seriously the amount of Bullshit actors get away with if they suck up to the right people is ridiculous. ezra miler is a recent example, the dude assaults women and still runs around scottfree, not to mention people like weinstein who is just not that good like his collegeas in hiding his skeletons
Gyaru is just a look in Japan that is meant to Mimic the look of the Exaggerated Blond Bimbo American High School Girl look from the 80's.

whole question of separating art from the artist
Anime has about the same percentage of degeneracy as furry... so about 100%.
That includes YOU, Nux... since your're both a weeb AND a furry! Hence the Renamon shrine in your basement. XD
Given Japan's age of consent the reason Toriko's author basically got off unscathed was probably because the actual crime was prostitution not the age of the prostitute or something like that
Want Nux to watch Cracked's After Hours, Ruining Your Favourite Sitcoms With Simple Math after this. Interesting things to say about the timeline of the Cosby Show.
And yet Funimation destroyed Vics livelihood over false aligations and butthurt voice actors.
9:13 Holy based, say it louder for the people in the back!
🧐🤔
Y'know, I think I can agree with this.
But it requires a prison system that actually focuses on the rehabilitation part, and I suspect that that might just be too dang expensive🎉 what a shame
@@thierrydecker8110 It is actually less expensive in the long run, less recidivism and no silly long sentencing means much less incarcerated population as well as much less value lost to crime.
The issue is in the states a lot of our economy is backed up by prison labor I'm not defending that I very much want prison reform but I doubt they ever will
The point of prison is supposed to be rehabilitation, not to punish. But people, and governments, always lose sight of that. It's sad
Part of rehabilitation IS punishment you clod
Eh there's places where they work on rehabilitation. However in some cases you'll find people who don't see a need to change. Like those people will always continue the same crime.
System here says jail is a punishment, a time for self reflection and then after you get out you actually work with guidance from a social worker to settle into society normally again. Mostly to avoid over population in jail.
There is lot to be argued about how seriously messed up all people in the video mentioned and speaking are... There is a ton of missing details, refusal to accept other people's views, and general wrongness to go around.
I always wondered what happened to Toriko anime, and now I Know.

This is when we separate the art from the artist

For the second case:
The age of consent is apparently 13 years and the prostitute was 16 years old. Still a child, but not totally ignorant nor vulnerable as one
Its morally wrong, but not as bad as the first guy
Wrll that was uh, not what I was expecting when I saw the thumbnail
I'm gonna go wash out this pain with cringe pain of something that isn't hurting people
The entire channel of the person making the video being reacted to is garbage.

Not to mention that girls in high school have breasts. Yeah it might be over exaggerated but animation and fiction in general is over exaggerated
