I noticed while editing when we weighed the BMC it had 2 x empty drink bottles attached. So taking them away, you can remove roughly 150-200 grams off the total weight. Cheers, Cam
@@markbentley4343 Just for clarity, I weighed my personal drink bottle before posting this. It was 80 g empty. Some of the bottles these days are quite robust. Including the ones that appeared on the BMC. It's rough though.
Thank you DT Swiss! Any bikes and/or wheels you require content on, please send my way. I have A LOT of trouble getting access to bikes for reviews here in Australia. Getting my hands on this bike was very challenging!
Nice review Cam, well done. I notice you never mentioned the Trek Madone in this review for comparison and would love to see you compare these bikes. I recently picked up mine for significantly cheaper than the BMC, and that included SRAM AXS groupset and project One Icon paint. One thing I would mention for your subscribers is the Bontrager Aeolus XXX6 handle incredibly well in cross winds and are well worth it.
Good point you raise. My challenge with the Trek Madone was that I only had it for 1 day and it is the outdated model now. If I make comparisons I believe people what the most recent version. I would love to get my hands on Trek bikes, but I get nothing when I reach out to them. Hopefully as the channel grows things will change. Cam
thanks foot a great review! I own a custom-build TMR01 (frame set module, ENVE 5.6, DA9170, Rotor 2inPower) in size 61 and can only confirm your assessment. It’s a super comfortable ride, more so even than my BMC SLR01 (2017) or BMC Gf01 (2014). Couldn’t be happier with it.
I built up a 2019 Madone SLR (RIM BRAKE) with Dura Ace 9150 di2, Bontrager XXX-6, Bontrager XXX saddle, Madone aero cockpit with Garmin mount, Tune bottle cages, and Speedplay Zero titanium pedals at 7.1KG's. I'm so glad I picked up a rim brake version for less money and saved 400 grams.
Nice review Cam. I was just in the market and looked at this bike. I ended up going with a leftover Cannondale System Six Hi-Mod Ultegra Di2. For the money, I think the SystemSix is the absolute best bike in the aero category and there's some third party data to support that. Otherwise, BMC has always made top notch kit.
Very informative video... glad I didn’t miss it... I’m also glad you touched on the potential post ride soreness or relative absence of it on the BMC.... I love the clean lines... the only thing that unsettles me is that price point... but such is the realm of aero bikes in that category, ie Venge, Cervelo S5 (Dura Ace Di2), Cannondale System Six, etc... that’s a lot of coinage for a non crit racer, with no sponsorship... lol
That is interesting to hear people say the Timemachine Rd frameset is so compliant. It is the Roadmachine frameset that is supposed to be geared more for the general consumer that wants a really nice all-round road bike, however I hear a lot of reviewers saying that the Roadmachine is actually a harsh ride. I’m starting to wonder if the ride quality assessments are being affected by the reviewers initial expectation of what the frame will ride like before they ride it.
I find it quite interesting that bikes sold to consumers seemed to be specced or promoted with Sram wireless groupsets more than Shimano Di2s, I guess cause the Sram Red AXS is new? Or could it be something else? Currently, the Trek Emonda SLR Disc/Rim takes my heart, its lightweight frame allows lightweight wheels for those climbing days and as the races is not under UCI, you'll be able to race with a lower than 6.8kg (most people seems to be able to get it at 5.6kg easy) bike, and on those flat days, slap on some deep aero wheels and its weight will probably be at around 6.8kg.
nice review mate, i think next time we see one of these at the nicholls abode it's not going to belong to the man of the house, heehee! rock on-cheers!

Great review mate. Stunning bike, a little out of my price range though😁. It’s a cool time to be a rider - aesthetic design and tech hardware together.
Hello! I’ve bought this bike recently (still waiting for a fit, then it’s onto the trainer until spring) and have a question about the seat tube bottle cage. I see you’ve got it in the lower position here, and at 3:22 I notice it overlaps the FD mount slightly. On my bike (ultegra di2 r8070 groupset) this overlap prevents the bottle cage from sitting flush against the frame. Did you find this to be the case with the bike in the video?
It's not designed to be in this lower position. The rings around the bottles should be in line with one another. It's designed to work together with the storage box, which is only left off if one enters a UCI race. Optionally, you can leave off the aero skirt around the rear bottle cage, and run it "naked", if you insist on running it that low. The reason why there's a lower boss in the seat tube, is for the box to attach to.
Looks very simple and clean... I don't think it's outrageous as Trek Madone SLR colour scheme I would say. I think paint scheme can make aero bike more appealing. C2 Rere in white/blue is very nice, 2020 Trek Madone SLR is hands down the best looking superbike in any colour but that's just my opinion... I would love to see you compare this to a budget aero bike eg. Merida Reacto Disc (2019 model with Shimano 105 currently on sale here in Australia for only $2399). I think their wholesaler/distributor might be based in Brisbane too. I would be curious to know if you could detect much of a difference. The reacto claims to be one of the most aero frames and cycling weekly's velodrome testing showered it was right up there at the top. Good enough for Nibali to win Milan-San Remo (lighter pro spec frame)
Good call Richard, and you're right. Advanced Traders are in Brisbane. I am hoping this review will make them more inclined to work with me. I had to fight hard to get my hands on the BMC. And I'm not asking for any $$$$, just access to the bike!Fingers crossed. Cam
Hey Cam, hope you’re keeping well mate. Enjoying the recent uploads as always 👍🏼 After your opinion as I know you’ve ridden all 3..... which did you prefer out of the S5, Venge and BMC TMR? Looking to get one of the above, but not able to test them all. All great looking bikes, so a tricky decision! Cheers 👍🏼
How do you explain this frame style, I love the look of the leveled upper bar, I guess considered aggressive position (the ones with the noticeable inclined bar are god ugly to me). Trying to find a bike with a similar design as this in the 1.5k - 2k price range
I have a 2017 BMC Teammachine SLR01. I love the bike, except the seat tube wedge. It is a pain in the a$$ to adjust and, like many others, the seat post does not stay put once adjusted. I've logged just over 15,000 km, but would trade it in a heartbeat for a bike with a traditional seat post clamp.
hey Cam great review again...but a question pops to my head, a topic that might have been covered before but when you talk about different chainwheels/cassette along with different gears and the effect that those can have on your ability to climb or to go fast ...in that department...you lose me ! I just Don't know to select to right chainwheel/cassette/gears that would give me what i want either better climb ability or else...If you've already covered that topic post a link...if not well there's a topic for a future video ...cheers from Montréal Québec !
Thanks for sharing mate. I haven't covered this topic actually, but could be a good one for the future. It will just require some research as the whole 1 X and 12 speed has complicated the matter. But I'll definitely attempt to get to it before the year is out. Cheers, Cam

Cam
Masterpiece.. 💖
BMCs always have the best looking bikes.
What's the name of the song played in the beginning of the video??
It's a song from Music Bed. Not sure of the name.
Cam would you choose this over a venge?
Depends, for racing I would go the Venge. If I'm more coffee shop rides with mates, the BMC
How do you compare the BMC to the Factor Ostro Vam?
Haven’t ridden the Ostro so not sure
for the pricey price I chose the CANYON Aeroad CF SLX and i am very happy with it.... lovely BMC tho
Nice bike you have there. Cheers, Cam
Cheers 👍🏼
Venge was my favourite but TIMEMACHINE was incredibly comfortable for a fast aero road bike.
Cam Nicholls cheers Cam! Think it’s got to be the Venge really hasn’t it. Light and aero sounds like a win win 👍🏼
Max Belcher it’s the best looker too.
Cam Nicholls scratch that... may have to be the new Tarmac SL7 instead! 😉🤣
How do you explain this frame style, I love the look of the leveled upper bar, I guess considered aggressive position (the ones with the noticeable inclined bar are god ugly to me). Trying to find a bike with a similar design as this in the 1.5k - 2k price range
truncated design mainly.
do you know the max tire size that'll work? will a 30 fit?
I have 28 that measure close to 32... and there is a little room left.
Thanks for sharing mate. They say 28mm but you can normally get more in there. Cam
Nice video 😍😍
I have a 2017 BMC Teammachine SLR01. I love the bike, except the seat tube wedge. It is a pain in the a$$ to adjust and, like many others, the seat post does not stay put once adjusted. I've logged just over 15,000 km, but would trade it in a heartbeat for a bike with a traditional seat post clamp.
Thanks for sharing Jim, I can appreciate your sentiment. Cam
hey Cam great review again...but a question pops to my head, a topic that might have been covered before but when you talk about different chainwheels/cassette along with different gears and the effect that those can have on your ability to climb or to go fast ...in that department...you lose me !
Cheers, Cam
Beautiful bike!
Not a wanker bike....better I don’t comment. Looks good. And of course....great video.
What song was that during the intro?
Here we go by Norman
Do a video on the Giant Propel Advanced SL0 or the sl1... 2019 or the 2020 please
I'd love to, if Giant would allow me access to their bikes. Not at this stage unfortunately, hopefully as the channel grows though. Cheers, Cam
this looks to be a giant propel copy
Nice review Cam! I took on board your early comments when I bought my S5, so keen to hear your comparisons between it and this BMC!
I put together a video of my S5 on my channel if you want to check it out too
Great video, well played. Cam
BMC should do a paint collaboration with Ferrari to make it official.
But should that happen, Colnago and De Rosa will get pissed.
Gladiators Cycling Club GHANA I think it was a bit click baity to Associate this bike with Ferrari. It is not Italian, and BMC as I am aware have never been associated with Ferrari.
How do you get all these bikes???
Making UA-cam content and doing it for free
What is the opening song?
Dimashoey here we go. By Norman.
I'm thinking red/black is so sexy and yes, it looks like a Ferrari! Another awesome vid
Cheers Zaldy. Cam
