  • 9 amazing unknown sites in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Most tourists visit the Wailing Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
But the Old City of Jerusalem has much more to offer: there are a lot of special, unknown sites. So if you want to see the real Old City, the one that lies off the beaten track, then this video is for you. Here is a list of some of the sites:
Another Wailing Wall (which is arguably holier than the one you know).
An underground water pool dating back 2000 years.
A family that has the longest tradition of tattooing in the world.
    Two easy-to-miss lookout points.
    And much more...

I have lived 4 years in Jerusalem, the most beautiful and intense years of my life. Some places shown I knew, others not. Jerusalem is full of hidden, unknown gems, and under those gems, others are still waiting to be uncovered. Never hesitate to visit Jerusalem, and when the city calls you; leave everything behind and just go

Your comment has me in tears. I've had the pleasure to visit Israel twice in my life, and yes, Jerusalem is one of my favorite places in the world. I was planning a trip to be in Israel in 2019, but for reasons out of my control, our group wasn't able to go. I had planned two days or touring Jerusalem as well as one free day in Jerusalem. I wanted so very much to see places in Jerusalem that are not what a Christian Church would consider to visit. If I had my way, I would move to Israel and spend the rest of my life exploring all Israel has to offer. Shalom from the USA.

Excellent. I was only in Jerusalem for 3 days in the 1980s, but my companion and I discovered a true gem by accident. We saw a sign pointing to a Russian archaeological museum ( which we never found). It lead up a flight of stairs to a covered alleyway with olive wood workshops, and massive women gate. As we stood there with another confused group, a small door in the gate opened. A short black man in a monk's habit waved us in. We were in the Ethiopian Coptic monastery on the roof of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre! (although we didn't know it at the time) The brothers live in individual domed huts in the center of a square. The monk didn't speak much English, but he took us down a flight if stairs to their chapel, with a muural of the Last Supper that was painted in Ethiopia - so everyone is black, dressed in Ethiopian robes.
The Madonna and Child in the Mary Chapel, down another flight of stairs, are also African. We left through a non-discript door in the courtyard of Holy Sepulchre, so noise after the peaceful quiet of the monastery.
They can be visited from the courtyard via a door on the right side wall, when facing the big door of the church.

One of my greatest regrets is I never got to go to Jerusalem when I was young and healthy. I could have but I put it off too long. If you ever want to do something don't put it off, do it now.

I recently returned from my first trip to Israel, a Holy Land tour for Christians. Immediately I started planning my next visit. I was amazed to see the man that we bought a scarf from in this video, about 7:28 into the video. Interestingly enough, if you go into his fabric store, you can look through a glass floor in the shop to see ruins of a church below the floor. Thanks for these great videos!

As it is part in sections the Jewish section, arab, Greek, Armenian and also a tiny Assyrian part.
I absolutely loved the Holy land and Jerusalem ❤🙏

The one time I was able to visit Israel was in 1971. My favorite part of the trip was buying some food from a local vendor in the Old City of Jerusalem and then walking around to visit shops and meet people. This video really took me back. I'm 70 now and the #1 thing on my bucket list is to visit Israel again. I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the entire area.
