    Thank you for this. I don't prime mine often but will now.

    I just did mine today, how funny. I sand off the old residue first as it might apply unevenly otherwise

    Do you scrape your shelves every time? That's a video I'd like to see.

      I do not scrape them every time. I scrape them if the primer looks thin or is chipping, then I'll re-prime.

    On a full fuse on my freshly primed kiln shelf(let it dry for a day) I still have some dot tails? What is that from? Thank you for the video.

      It might be from your water to primer ratio, It might have too much water and be running. I would try adjusting the ratio and see if that helps!

    Thank you for that. I use thin fire but it is a faff and non good for you as I’m sure you know. Do you ever have primer stick to your glass?

    • @LisaVogtglassartist
      @LisaVogtglassartist  Рік тому +1

      Yes, primer will frequently stick to white glass and when the glass is heated above fusing temperature of 1,465F like when your combing glass. You can remove it with a single edge blade or you can use bathroom cleaners that help remove calcium build up. :)

      I will remove primer if there's signs of wear, it looks thin or the primer is chipping. But I don't scrape them every time. I will make a video showing/explaining when and how I scrape my kiln shelves :)

    Do you clean or scrape off the used primer after firing?

    • @LisaVogtglassartist
      @LisaVogtglassartist  Рік тому

      I do not! I prime right over it UNLESS there's signs of wear, it looks thin or the primer is chipping.

    After you prime how long do you have to wait before you can put the shelf in the kiln.

      It depends on how many layers of primer you add but you can use it as soon as it all dries. It doesn't take too long for the primer to dry and if you leave it outside on a sunny day it should dry within 30 minutes or so!
