ATF can't make rules on something until Congress passes a law. Plain and simple. They overstepped their authority.
Exactly it's not a left or right issue, it's checking the powers of other branches of government as the founding fathers intended.
As a right-leaning guy, I don't mind bump stocks being banned. While fun, they don't serve much purpose except being another tool for goons. That being said, the same power the ATF used for that ban on a relatively bipartisan issue is the same power they are now abusing to ban whatever the left wants, including innocuous things like pistol braces over loopholes that permitted them to bypass legislature. This is nothing more than a check of their power.
So vote democrats in for a majority big enough to get some gun reform bills passed.

The bump stock does not turn a firearm into a machine gun. The trigger is pulled once for every round fired by a persons finger.
The court did nothing more than confirm that fact and people are acting like their ruling is somehow persuaded by corruption.

Whats funny is that if every bump stock ever produced was valued by it's purchased price the entire industry would be worth a few million dollars at most.

You don't need a bump stock in order to bump fire a firearm. Bump firing a semiautomatic weapon still fires the weapon one time with each pull of the trigger. Bump stocks didn't do anything that you couldn't do without it. You can't hit anything bump firing a firearm.

Honest question: Why would anyone be upset with the Supreme Court’s ruling? They are simply enforcing Congress’s Laws. If either of these people actually read Congress’s definition of a machine gun, they would understand that the Bump Stock clearly does not qualify as a machine gun.
The bump stock does not effect the trigger. There is no change to the trigger. The Senator should be blaming himself if he does not like the ruling because Congress’s definition does not make bump stocks illegal. This reporter, should be embarrassed by his opening statement. To insinuate that these justices took bribes over this ruling is just disgraceful and disgusting, especially because he clearly has not read Congress’s definition of a machine gun.

Of course, a bump stock itself is not a machine gun. No one is arguing that, and that is not what Clarence Thomas is even arguing. If a bump stock turns another weapon into the definition of a machine gun as described in Trump's regulation, then it is banned. Clarence Thomas found some semantic trick to say he doesn't agree with the definition in Trump's regulation. He takes the NRA money and snickers and sneers. I don't see why the NRA needs to defend bump stocks. They are not in any way, shape or form needed for self defense or hunting.

They made the obvious decision. A bump stock clearly doesn't meet the necessary requirements to be considered a fully automatic weapon since it makes you pull the trigger multiple times, just really fast. The legal definition, as described in law, calls a fully auto as something that shoots multiple rounds with ONE trigger pull. All this means is that Congress would have to ament the wording.

They followed the constitution
They actually didn't follow the constitution. They did follow the wording of the NFA 1934 law, which says a single pull of the trigger. If you pull the trigger of a rifle equipped with a bump stock, it fires one round. You must release the trigger in some way before the gun will fire again. So the court just followed the law as written. It does not involve the constitution in any way.
Bump stocks is not the issue. The issue is; can unelected people in government agencies write law? The court says, absolutely not!

The stock functionally changes the body, so your muscle doesn't need to move, and therefore, the trigger was modified to not need to be pulled at all by your brain beyond the first.

Properly interpreting the Constitution is the only job of the Supreme Court. They determined that the ATF cannot create laws, that is the job of congress. It isn’t the job of the Supreme Court to make legislation from the bench, just as it is not the job of 3 letter agencies to make laws on their own.
