I had the great luck to take a few lessons from Tom when I was a new (adult onset) guitar player. I wish I had taken more! But most of all he was a decent human and patient teacher. I've got the two non-live CD's. I can't seem to find him playing anywhere these days. I truly hope he is in good health and still with us. Lowdenfan, message me if you know how to contact Tom. I'd love to thank him and see how he's doing these days.
Splendid! Your arrangement? I'm a big fan of Tony McManus, Donal Clancy, John Doyle... and now you on youtube! Can't wait to listen to all your postings. BTW I just posted my local session doing Banish. Wish you were with us ;-)
@@nchasin , nicely played overall but with some string quack and slap that I don't hear from Thompson's arrangement. This one also charges forward a bit where Thompson's arrangement has more pauses, more syncopation, and "swings" a bit better IMHO. Either way, it's a lovely toon....
Tom, did you post this yourself? You introduced me to the Lowden sound in the 90s at a gig in Newport Beach, IIRC. The only web mention I find of you refers to you playing at McCabe's in Long Beach. (How's that for a nostalgia blast?) Maybe it was Kurt's place where I bought your CD...
@CVASadoptableDogs No, I'm not Tom, just a fan. Used to see him play at the Alta coffee house in Costa Mesa. I too was also introduced to Lowdens by Tom, but could never afford them. Tom has put out 3 CD's - Satis Verborum, Monkey's Violate The Heaven Palace and Live At McCabe's. I have the first 2. The live CD is impossible to find (I even asked Tom if he had an extra copy).
Thank you for the Arrangement Tom! I gave it a go - You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/ViDlYGD1bpg/v-deo.html Beautiful tune! Thank you for the Inspiration!
I could listen to that all day.
I have all three CDs. We still play them and love them!
This is a fun song to play! Thanks Tom, for teaching.
would love a tab for this !!
Really nice, playing my fiddle along and having a blast ... Thanks!
If I'd never read the old Mercedes Lackey book Bedlam's Bard, I never would have heard of this song. It's fantastic!
Great stuff, right from the heart !
Wow. So beautiful.
bend and twisting those notes ... great!

He's in Newport Beach, California. Still playing, although I'm not on that coast anymore, so I'm not sure where you can hear him.
Matt Stone if you haven’t gotten in touch with him, I’ll reach out for you. I’m his nephew. I’m sure he’d love to hear from you.
Sublime!
Temazo!!.
Tom long fingers,,I wish the camera had shown your left hand longer,,very good version mate,,,thanks ,,

This is also almost exactly how Richard Thompson plays it.

This is Richard Thompson's version from Strict Tempo

Is this better than richard thompson
I don't think so, IMHO. It's obviously Thompson's arrangement. Well done just the same.
