@alexandriamendez1 honestly, they do it in K-pop, and they are selling millions. I'm talking millions of physical albums. And they be doing albums that have all types of pictures, postcards, etc... we use to have that but it's changed over here in the US.

@alexandriamendez1 I can say that CDs are still being sold. If more artists started focusing on smaller rollouts like a CD signing or mall tours, then we start to incorporate the physical forms of music with the digital perfectly ✨️

RAP is on the brink of what R&B was facing 10-15 years ago. We’ve started to allow anyone to be famous as a rap star thus eliminating true talent. RAP will eventually need to reinvent itself like R&B had to do…

I credit the Hot Girl/City Girl/Icy Girl summer of 2019 for labels realizing there was market potential for female rappers but I hate how 1 dimensional they went with it. Instead of expanding in all of the different avenues we could have with female rappers, only kitty rap gets main stream attention. If mainstream survives 5 years I hope we get more diverse representation as far a CONTENT goes. We got the diverse looks 🤷‍♂️ now give us diverse vibrations.

There are female rappers like Sa Roc and little simz and SAMPHA the great who are amazing!. They rap about real world issues, self love, black issues, their music is affirming and empowering with real lyrics. The thing is especially in the US, female rappers who rap about serious topics are never selected as the IT girls. But the silver lining is that they are here. They’re making music, the touring, they’re money and people are listening to and loving what they have to say.

Maybe just maybe, these artists, males included, will work on the their craft. Make R&B not Vibe/Mood, make Hip-Hop not Tik-Tok, make Rap not tired and overused Trap.

Hey Zach… to put it simply…. What make artists great and sustain is being sensitive to the times and socially aware. This album wasn’t bad… . The sonics make it feel more like a spring release. The album, as a whole, feels like late spring/summer vibes.. Also, just like Drake, they didn’t read the room. Socially, ppl are growing bored with the sex, party and run a scam on these niggas. The next five years is calling for a shift in perspective. Hell the next few months (holiday season) is calling for talk about love, family and overcoming hardship. They just needed to show a lil bit more personal/ artistic growth. One thing Beyoncé has mastered is releasing music that reflect the times.

I believe some will but believe The Megan, Glorilla, Lattos are here to stay, their fans are about them as artists and personalities and they have the talent. Upcomers Lola Brooke, Lady London, Doechi might make some things shake as well and fine permanence. It’s a mixture of the talent, personality, hustle, working the industry it not working you and finally God. I’m actually excited for the future of women in rap. There’s so many coming up I coulda have mentioned others but I’m a mother 😂 and I can’t keep all the girls in my head rent free.

The city girls didn't take advantage of the fame and popularity they had and it makes no sense because at one point in time they were both the it girls both on social media and music wise. Literally everybody was quoting them. Even people that didn't even consume female rap knew of the city girls to some degree.
You can say what you want about them but they had a massive influence on current day female rap in their prime. They just failed to capitalize on it and now people have moved on.
Even as a solo artist JT is gonna flop if she don't start showing some real artistry and doing something different regardless of the of the fact that she can rap
The same thing will happen to artist like sexxy red, ice spice ect. It's just a matter of time. The only female rappers that'll continue to be relevant is Cardi and Nicki and at this point Cardi is hanging on by a very thin thread. Especially with her acting afraid to release the second album.

JT breaks down what happened all the time. In order for her to be released she had to stay in a Halfway house which “if we all know” you can’t really do anything from a halfway house. There’s curfews and etc. then Covid struck which also halted their movement. Not to mention their music isn’t really “family friendly” so while there were other artist performing for award shows and other family friendly events during Covid. They couldn’t do so. So, it may seem like they’re just picking back up after “being comfortable” and “spending money” in your words but that’s not the case.

Hi Zach, to your point around around 4:30 regarding JT, remember she came out of jail and then we went into pandemic immediately after. She was also in a half way house for a while and so I think all of that slowed down the momentum after FreeJT movement led by Caresha.

City Girls will be around for a long time. What y’all don’t understand about ghetto girls is when our backs are against the walls we STILL rise. They’ll take this L and carry it on their backs because that’s what they know how to do! Our generation is so used to people coming up quick that when they make mistakes it’s “OVER”. They only been making music 5 years and look at the influence they’ve had. Now, I do agree the album rollout could’ve been better. I still don’t understand why the interviews came after the album, but please let us watch how they comeback. With a good rebrand and strategy to reach the masses they could fully capitalize off their brand.

I will admit I didn’t even know an album was coming until I saw a tiktok two days ago with a beauty supply owner lip syncing to wigs. But as soon as I knew it was here I immediately streamed and saved most of the songs. I must be a niche audience member, I thought I was just old and out of touch.

This album was never gonna sell without a viral hit and even then, both male and female rappers haven't been able to sell records this year. Doja sold around 70k with a number one hit and I wouldn't be surprised if Nicki were to only sell about 200k. Literally no one was asking for an album from City Girls if I'm keeping it 100% honest.

On the Breakfast Club, Miami said something about a song being written in 2015 (I think that was the year she said) and it makes me think that a lot of the songs on the album were old songs meant for the first album (which was a mix tape); hence all the samples. I think they had a deal to make X amount of album so they rushed this and tossed those old songs on it so that they could fulfill the contract. With them obviously and painstakingly wanting to do different things, they probably thought this was best. I won’t be surprised when they announce that they’re going solo. JT is going to flourish when they part ways.

Wow another instance where I didn’t even know artists were coming out with a new album until I watched your video 😭 but I honestly agree with a lot of the things you said! I think the city girls had momentum at some point when they first came out but then they failed to capitalize on it. And at some point it just seemed like they stopped pushing all together. I know JT went to jail for some time period so that definitely contributed to them losing that mainstream audience but I think also after JT came back, they still kind of just stopped pushing music wise. Caresha started her podcast and her whole brand and relationship alongside Diddy, getting her bag in that way, and I feel like JT has become really complacent now that she’s been in a relationship with Uzi. I think they touched base on this in one of Caresha’s podcasts where Jt basically admitted that she’s happy being out of the mix and kind of having nothing to do with the music industry because she has a man who financially supports her. I think JT definitely was the more passionate one out of the two but I think at some point it became clear that even she just stopped caring about trying to keep up that momentum.
They had that little tour with Jack Harlow or Usher? Maybe both? Idk I just know they went on tour with somebody and that was cute and enough to keep them relevant but they still weren’t doing anything record breaking or that’s going to make them stand out like they did before.
Personally, I’ve never seen the city girls as artists that are strong enough to make full albums. To me their formula has always given do a couple of cute singles and featuring on other artists songs (artists that have a bigger fan base) and capitalizing off of that. But I don’t know if lyrically or creatively they really have what it takes to make a marketable album that’s going to receive high numbers in the industry. They’re at a point where whatever they put out is going to be very niche and only received by die hard fans… I also think JT has potential to go solo but honestly her most recent single was not my cup of tea and it felt very generic and exactly what she usually talks about when she collabs with Caresha. So when she made it this whole big thing about really pushing herself lyrically I was so confused because it just did not give that energy at all 😭 I do think JT needs to work on her craft a bit more and Caresha is honestly good where she’s at with her podcast and social media presence, the world will be okay if the city girls don’t make music again but maybe that’s just me 🫣

I feel like the city girls STILL can go to the that next level. Since the beginning it’s like always been something.. even when JT got out and city on lock got leaked.
It’s like always something messing them up. COVID, leaks, rollout..just always something! Just feels like it’s never a strategic plan!
Their recent interview with breakfast club they said that they do not have group management or a team for the group. I feel like if they did have a solid creative team it would work.
RAW the album was literally perfect and if these songs had a better rollout and a budget for videos.. it could’ve been a new wall or support for what’s to come.
Even JT said yes she wants to do a separate project but she wants it to be planned where it make sense for the group like.. I honestly just feel like they need a raw ass team.. cause like we all say the citygirls really changed culture.
I feel like people are screaming that they want JT to be solo but will be the same ones screaming they want a citygirls reunion.. like JT should do a solo work but also still be in the group like on the Halle & Chloe or Migos wave!
Nobody talks that shit like CG. Nobody.. and even tho Miami isn’t the main artist she still has elevated I think.. I feel like we need them in the culture shit fr!
Long story short, bih they need a TEAM. like on some creative RCA, Doja cat, summer walker type shit.. they could RULE the spring & summer, hit us sometimes in the winter with some cute pop or R&B shit.. allat!

I think QC fails at A&R. They don’t develop them (or Lakeyah), they rely on viral moments. I also think JT has severe PTSD after jail. And she’s not getting the support she needs to really dig in her bag. I also think they aren’t cohesive or really into the artistry. They’re just doing things instead of really investing in the craft of their brand. They got the money… so the hunger has changed.
