I am trying to get into making UA-cam videos. Would I use these cables, etc., for connecting my camera to a laptop? My camera doesn't have a swivel screen (Panasonic Lumix LX100-Mk2) so I would like to view what I am doing on the laptop, which is a new Windows Acer Aspire 3. The camera does have a small HDMI port, and my laptop has a large HDMI port.

Yes, you could use the video capture card and an HDMI cable to go from the camera to the video capture card. Then connect the capture card to a USB port on your laptop. Forget the HDMI port on your laptop, that's for outputting a video signal from your laptop to an external monitor, TV, or projector. Good luck.

I have a Nikon mirrorless camera and it used snapbridge app via bluetooth to send video feed to phone. I think this is a much better way to view your video output in real-time without the delay. I still record on camera internally but can use phone as monitor now. Thanks!

Thank you for your interesting comment. I agree that in most cases I would record to the camera's SD card (or other media) since the quality is likely to be much better. But there are times when recording to a phone is genuinely useful. But my main reason for using this setup is that it gives me a cheap external monitor that's easy to setup and doesn't require me to carry much other than a cable and small capture card, since I always have the phone on me.
