  • I have started a new chapter on the incredible island of Bermuda.
    It’s time for me to familiarise myself with the fish that inhabit these waters and how best to go about catching them. It’s clear there is an abundance of amazing sea life, I wasn’t quite prepared for how savage some could be.
    Join me on my new adventure as I explore the stunning shoreline and hone my skills. All going well I’ll be afloat in good time!
    Your support to the channel is massively appreciated so if you enjoy the videos and haven’t done so already; like, comment and subscribe!!!

    Awesome, and best of luck, but my god, get that heavier gear and braid sorted! Good 8 strand even in 30lb or 40lb isn't the slightest bit restrictive for casting etc, and would give you far better chance on the beasts. It isn't a good look to keep leaving lures in fish.

    • @PilzE.
      @PilzE. Місяць тому

      You believe Oban's bit of snapped line is a real problem?
      Take a walk down your local beach after a spring tide and check out the amount of rubbish, plastic, netting, etc, you find trapped in rocks, gullies, etc. Now that will break your heart!
      I tend not to moan about it too much on decent anglers UA-cam channels, anglers who show NOTHING but respect and care for the fish and environments they attend. Instead, we take a couple of bags with us and actually clean up that which we find. Bitching about it from your lounge solves nothing, especially when you are preaching to the choir. Doing something positive about it is what counts. I'll not stress (except for the monetary value!!!) on the small pieces of tackle I loose to Cornish coastal waters, knowing the good I am doing by cleaning the marks, beaches and walks my hobby and hunting take me to. Neither will I concern myself with the small number of size fish, shellfish, and game I keep for the table, knowing my family are eating fresh, healthy, self caught, natural, God given fare.
      Have yourself a great, positive, action filled day. 🤍

    • @lordbiro
      @lordbiro Місяць тому

      @@PilzE. I believe all discarded nylon, plastics, braid is myopic in the extreme. Its really that simple. I live in Cornwall, you dont need to wait for low tide to see the dreadful problem. Virtue signalling about your efforts is a drop in the ocean isnt it ?

    Nice move. I hope you got a good price for your SIB first?
    BTW, that first fish was a Bermuda bream and the second, a Yellowtail Snapper. Try C-mart on the North shore road, for stronger fishing tackle. They're supposed to have the best selection on the island. And bring some water skis next time, in case you have to tire out the next big one.

  • @jeffjefferson2676

    What could make a difference is to have steel wire the first 4 to 5 inch after the lure before it goes to regular fishing line. It can stop the fish from breaking the line. I think that is what went wrong on the occasions the line snapped. Either that or the reef was scratching the line. Or you need a higher poundage line.
    And the fish are way more game here than what you are used to probably. It may be due to hotter temperatures, or them just being other, and bigger fish.
    Maybe some real heavy duty stuff is the way to go. That rod was really bending! I was surprised it didnt snap.
    Keep your head up eh. Its all a new area, you will get them eventually.
    You can google image search the fish if you make a photo, or go to the frame with the fish in it. Its just like a pokedex with pokemon. :D
    Greetings,
    Jeff
