I really appreciate this video. Even as someone who has followed the game for a long time, it helps to review what's happened when dealing with a decade of stories!
Yeah, I haven't played for some time but I always loved the rich story and amazing characters of this setting. It does Star Wars justice.
are there other videos that go more in depth? or does this explain most of it?
@@dinoandrade3640 idk men would be great to know
@@dinoandrade3640 There is a UA-cam channel called Gamer's Little Playground that goes through it all.
I started playing this Game, when I was around 10. Now I'm 18. This game was a loyal companion throughout my teenage years and will hopefully continue to accompany me for many years to come
thats awesome! May the force be with you!
Same man, I keep coming back to it, god tier game.
You grew up with such an amazing game. Same here, I played this throughout my teen years, and I would do it all over again. I've learned some legitimate life lessons from SWTOR.
That's an awesome story! Wish I knew this game as early as you* did.
They said SWTOR at the end game...I hope they create a new major expansion like knight of fallen empire and entenal throne
Pleasantly surprised that SWTOR is still going strong ten years later.
Of course! If a game like DCUO can live after ten years. SWTOR especially can! :D
Dark side will always find a way.
Still going? Oh boi, it's about to receive maybe it's largest update to date
much longer than it's predecessor galaxies
@@AFFoC You mean three hours of content instead of two?
Started playing when I was 12, I'm 20 now and still playing. This game taught me english and because of it I'm studying Game Design now.
Nice evolution 👍🏻
started with 9, now I'm 16
This game is such a gorgeous title. Always putting out content and continuing to flesh out the universe. I love this game and the entire team. Wish I could work you with you all someday.
@Woohoodoo I wish they could overhaul the graphics and animation systems but I guess Hero Engine is keeping both SWTOR and TESO back in that regard.
This game ruined Revan and et/kotfe ruined ur chars story.
@@Afthrast However Hero engine was (and probably still is) the foremost engine that allows the biggest uninterrupted open spaces and zones. That's why it was chosen.
@@eddyeddyd I agree that et/kotfe might have ruined the personal story, however I'd say it still had some of the best storytelling of any MMO - allowing us to feel like an actual character, while still keeping a linear story.... I wonder, however, what makes you say that it ruined Revan? I love him from kotor and I love that we got some more grey-side magic
Swtor is keeping legends alive
I’ve been playing SWTOR on and off for years since it came out. It always manages to bring me back with their awesome expansions with incredible stories. I’m so excited for Legacy of the Sith, can’t wait to see what’s gonna happen!!
Couldn't agree more! I just wish we could finally fight for the faction that we chose to support on odessen openly
Just wish our choices would be more meaningful.
10 years of amazing storytelling. Proud to be a part of this community.
When I started to play this game 10 years ago I was single, no children. Then I never thought I would keep playing it with my wife and our 6 years old daughter as well.Amazing job you have done guys!!
Aww that's really wholesome.
Absolutely love this game! 👌

Such an amazing game and this didn't even cover a 1/10 of the stories and adventures. So excited for Legacy of the Sith!
Most importantly, they skipped the entire Dread Master arc!
Honestly I hope SWTOR lives on for ever, such an underrated gem with such a dedicated team of developers behind it!
It will but not with the bad graphics i like the graphics but there is a big proplem in the game to stabilize fps my pc is good af but still got only 10fps in 16player raids and pvp :D
@ZoneFighter1 Disney better not touch swtor cause if they do just imagine the backlash
They would need to probably make a remake for that to happen. The sad truth is that eventually the game will give up. I do hope that they make some kind of remake though and put it on consoles as well because that would be dope.
@ZoneFighter1 EA owns SWTOR I think.
@ZoneFighter1 Let them make a High Republic MMO. Leave the SWTOR to it's current team. (Maybe upgrade to new engine down the line)
I don't care what anybody thinks. This game is a masterpiece. Period.
I totally agree bro!
I care what some people think. And yeah, masterpiece. Everytime I'm not playing it, I wish I was playing it.
Don't be so silly it's not an Masterpiece & nowhere close.
It has it's issues but it is still great.
It sure beats the living daylights out of all recent SW movies...
It’s nice that the old eu can live on through this game
Exactly what i thought aswell
@@KoteDarasuum this next expansion seems like it will tie in with the deceived novel, so it’s safe to say I’m excited
@@TheRagingNacho this expansion is about a novel? What is the novel about?
@@yourfriendlyneighborhoodsaiyan I'm not sure the new expansion will be tied to it, but the novel is called Deceived. It's about Malgus, the sacking of Coruscant, and its aftermath. It features characters like Darth Angral, Eleena Daru (Malgus' lover), and Aryn Leneer, the padawan of Ven Zallow, the Jedi Master killed by Malgus in the Jedi Temple. Aryn herself just recently appeared in the game, on the Republic side of the Dark Descent update.
Wonder if were gonna see abolith
Been playing since I was 12 I’m 20 now and still going strong now favorite mmo I’ve ever played
Same hahaha
@@Benjamin-yk5qx I'm playing since i'm 15 and now i'm 17. will play it hopefully a long time
Same, I'm 21 now. Bruh it's been a while. Just thinking about how many years has passed makes me so nostalgic 😭
Don't kill off Malgus, he's such an interesting character. One of the only Sith to gladly allow Aliens to server, there's no reason why he shouldn't have followers
I feel like there will be a choice at some point to either kill him off or let him live just like arcann in that regard
I disagree. Kill him. He attack you and tried to kill you. Betrayal like this should not be rewarded. It should be punished, with death!
Also the only Good Sith NPC was Mar and they killed him already! The bastards!
Apparently He cannot die. Your Character kills him numerous times over the story. Like a yoyo he keeps coming back.
@@joeslayter5841 Which honestly doesn't make too much sense. Sure, one guy was able to become immortal through his hate, but that was 1 guy, where his entire existence was rage, with no higher brain function beyond rage.
@@Jirodyne Right! I love Marr man. One of, if not my favourite Sith.
Honestly, one of the best eras in Star Wars. We NEED this era now more than ever and to move away from the Skywalker era.
Agreed. As much as I love the Skywalker saga, it would be nice for Lucasfilm to give us canon stories during the old republic and even further back. Since Old Republic itself is still being updated despite being part of Legends, this shows how popular the game franchise still is to this day (and more so with the KOTOR remake).
@@JakeStaffin I agree I love the skywalker story as well. I sorta understand making some of legends non cannon since a lot of people tried turning star wars into dbz, but the people behind the old republic games wasn't one of them.
Narrated by Charles Boyd himself?! Christmas came early this year!!
I've been playing this game for 8 years now and every minute of it was time well spent. My favourite MMO and era of the Star Wars Universe. Always great storytelling to more years to come!
The Story So Far - I was expecting to hear Carry on Wayward Son
Imagine they used Dean and Sam as npcs.
@@laklomp
Valkorion: You can't possibly hope to defeat me. I'm no mere force user.
Dean: You're the same thing, only bigger. The same brand of cockroach I've been squashing my whole life. An ugly, evil, belly-to-the-ground supernatural piece of crap. The only difference between them and you is the size of your ego.
So glad to see my favorite game going strong after all these years.
One of my favorite moments over my years playing was the vigil that players held outside House Organa on Alderaan after the passing of Carrie Fisher. Just a beautiful community moment to share stories in General Chat and remember.
The Old Republic is one of those games I've kept playing all the way through my teenage years, you can tell that the devs really enjoy making the game and want it to keep going. Here's to 10 years more!
"Previously on Star Wars: The Old Republic..."
I’ve been playing swtor since it came out when I was 10 - I’m 20 now and I still love everything about it! I haven’t played much recently because I’ve completed all the story content, but this will always be one of my favorite game worlds to be in and I’m so excited to see what the next expansion has to offer! Thank you to the swtor team for your hard work in creating one of my all time favorite games!!
That's a good one summary of all the story for these 10 years, you make master Gnost-Dural proud👏
Ever since 2015 your team and your game have my everlasting devotion and willing to play it. May this game outlive me
Very nice recap! Sharing is everywhere I can :)
You're a loyal SWTOR player Illeva👍🏻💜
They did forget about everything after Jedi Under Siege (though I agree)
Thanks for the recap! I really enjoyed reliving all that 😁 Gonna replay it again soon for sure!
Exciting!!! Thanks for the recap
That was an amazing explanation of the events of the game without revealing that much of what happens so new players could experience it themselves. Nicely done. Can't wait for the update!
I love this era of Star Wars and I’m so glad that the old republic is still getting updates!
Love this summary. I often forget important details of the story, so this is a very nice refresher. I would kinda love a more detailed version of this.
Love the recap! After 10 years, it's amazing to think of how successful this game has been. I only hope for more content as time goes on.
Thank you!!! even just this video has got me Pumped up for what is next to come!!! well done
I can't wait for the story to continue
Thank you for this recap. With the story going on for so long and expansions so slow in coming, this really helped me out. I love my SWTOR so much and with Acti-Blizz and their drama over there, its good to come back to a game that I can enjoy doing solo shit with.
I think after this we can all agree that the canonical "Outlander" is the hero of Tython, aka Solid Snake himself.
I mean how can it not be? Look at his dialogue
10 years of SWTOR in less than 10 minutes. Impressive! ( Love the video! ) 😍
Great job on catching us up
I started playing this game when I was about 10 with my dad who loved the game so much it’s one of the few things we truly bonded over so it will always hold a special place in my heart I still play to this day even with the dwindling number I hope this game lives on for many more decades as nothing comes close to it
I remember 11/12 years ago, following every update when this game was still in development, eagerly awaiting the class trailers. It's been a while since i've played, but i still do play when i can. I'm excited for the expansion and all the changes it brings.
Excellent reading of the summary of in-game events. Thanks Charles and team! Been a subscriber since 2012 and curiously hopeful for the new expansion. Keep up the fantastic work please! 👍
And what a story it was
Beautiful narration!
Years of work summed up in 4 minutes..really great job 👏
Dammmn, strong video!!! i enjoy recap hearing the story so smooth from u.
This is hands down the best Star Wars game out there. May it live for another 10 years.
remember when this came out saw it everywhere advertised on the web when I was 10. Remembered loving the stories and then returned 3/4 years ago and found it was still going strong and released a new massive expansion kotfe. Took a break but came back and it's become one of the great star wars games.
I can't wait to see what the next expansions will entail. I've been playing since 2014, I believe I was in the 5th grade at the time, and I'm in 12th grade currently and I still love this game to death.
Awesome video! 👏🏼
I just stumbled across this video and now I can’t wait to explore the rest of your channel.
Needed this so much
I love this. Very helpful for someone who will be jumping into this as a new player.
Shadow or Revan was one of the best expansions I've ever played through. Great memories.
As a lore youtuber, this is immensely helpful, thank you
Okay, now that was an epic overview of the past 10 years!
Great vid, thanks for the recap.
This might be the best cinematic so far, seriously impressive
I have barely any knowledge of the Old Republic stuff other than it is FAR more awesome than nearly every other time period in Star Wars, the cinematic trailers and some minor bits of info about certain characters.
This sort of video is super helpful! It makes me want to see all of this stuff in either animated, CG (like the cinematic trailers), or live action form some day!
Cannot wait for the video game on the PS5, and I pray the rumours of the film/TV show are true!!
I followed this game from it's early days of development and was so happy when it launched. When they released the whole Valkorian storyline/expac though, I wasn't into it and I fell off and haven't returned. I still have so many fond memories of playing SWTOR and I hope it does well in th future to come.
cant wait. i love this game, wen i first downloaded it so many years ago, i said, im in it for life. dont get much time to play atm, but try to keep my 2 main charicters one jedi one sith, up to date. it was such a great time watching this story evolve over the years.
Very well put together and comprehensive. Thank you! I've played SWTOR years ago and I've been wondering what has happened to the lore? Great job!
My Jedi Knight has been through it all! :)
The force is strong with this one.
This game needs more content, I love playing it.
My favorite MMORPG and Star Wars game ever. Can't wait to know what's next for Malgus.
I started playing it when I was 15. I’m 23 now and still love this game.
This is really nice, a lot of explanation and a lot of new facts.
I played the game a ton when it originally released and have returned to it periodically, but I never touched the expansions, as I'm still trying to level through all the class stories.
I really appreciate this brief overview of what I've missed and am happy to see SWTOR getting more attention than it has in a long time. I hope that the gameplay changes, QoL changes and new story coming with Legacy of the Sith will spark a renewal for the game.
May the Force be with ye, devs.
Thank you for your time. Awesome voice btw.
Thank you for the upload great video looking forward to the new expansion.
used to play this SO MUCH when first came out but around when the revan story was going on we got a new computer and since I haven't been able to play, finally got a another new personal one this chrismas that can handle SWTOR and so hyped to get back on, I had roughly kept up with the story in a bit more detail than this over the years but this is really nice for a catch up
Amazin' Summary!!
Just here after teh new cinematic legacy of the sith. Got me hyped for this game again. Thx please keep this game alive as long a possible
I'm a 28 year old KOTOR fanatic who only ever wanted a dedicated, single player KOTOR 3 experience, so you can imagine how disappointed I was with SWTOR. Absolutely bonkers to see it still alive and putting out content 10 years later! As much as I didn't enjoy the game, I'm happy to see the continued telling of stories during the greatest era in all of Star Wars lore.
Been playing since The Hutt Cartel expansion and have no plans of stopping. The kind of game that never gets old and is always a nice comforting activity for when the day gets stressful or I just need something to do.
Good to see you StrangeGaming
Thank the Force for this game. Cheers, SWTOR team!
man i got a chance to introduce this game to my 11 year old son recently.. he grew up watching me play it but never really cared to ask me about it until recently haha he like 1 when it came out but he started playing with me and now he loves it also. I love this game, I hope it stays around another 10 years.
My favorite video game ever!!! I have all 8 classes ready for Legacy of the Sith and I’m currently working on new all four Republic ones again who will stay loyal to their faction beginning with Ossus.
this was awesome to see
Huge epic story about heroes of the Republic and the Empire
I don't always play this game, but when I do, I do it a LOT. So great to play, it's nice to see it's still alive after all those years
Joined the game in early 2016, back then I remember a lot of discussion among the playerbase of the game shutting down. But as the years went by those voices became more quiet and are now overwhelmed by a chorus of new hype for the expansion.
A decade of SWTOR! Looking forward to the next video of the series. In 10 more years!
This was a fun recap.
Thank you for the video 😊
So excited for this. Sure has its bumps here and there. But I’m still coming along for the ride.
As an avid fan from Beta onwards, I am as excited as always to see more content being created.
This game is fun for the obvious reasons (story, pvp, ops, FPs, etc) but one thing that this game has that MANY games can't come close to (at least for me) is the ability to create a very powerful RP community. I have been in several guilds back when Begeren Colony and Ebon Hawk were their own servers, to now with Star Forge pathing the way for creative minds to write/act out interesting stories of their own.
I made friends that I would NEVER have met otherwise, whether from other states I would otherwise never visit, to far off countries like Australia, New Zealand, Germany, etc etc. I've been a gamer my whole life and I can say with 100% surety that SWTOR created some of my fondest memories through the RP community. Some amazing duels, stories, missions, etc that established life-long friendships that transcended the game and bled over into other games and IRL comradery.
I saw that this expansion is not the end for SWTOR and that the devs still have much more story and content ideas up their sleeves. For as small a team as they have, there is genuine love there for what they do and I can't wait to continue the story and adventure to continue.
Thanks to the BW team for sustaining my childhood love of SW and bringing some of the most interesting times in the lore to life with this game and the KOTOR games as well!
A great video that we can share with our friends who still haven´t played yet. But I missed Mek-Sha, Onderon and Malgus´ disappearance.
Thanks for this
Thank you for making this game, literally the only mmo I can actually get into and the story is great.
Loved this!
as zaeed from mass effect said when it comes to surviving rage is a heck of an anestetic
So many good memories with this game.
Happy 10 year anniversary
I’m glad they kept going with the story but man I really enjoyed those class stories he most, especially when you first start off as nothing and build up your rank.
Gosh i love this era
LET'S GO!!! Cant wait! :)
Let's goooo! SWTOR HYYYYPPPEEE!!!
I like to belive that Tenebre is still alive in the force and is still imposing his influence into ears throughout the years such as bane or Palpatine
I love this game. Always will. SWTOR deserves more praise.
I started to play in 2011 (+tested CBT and OBT) and completed every story for every class like...huh multiple times lol And i remember everything in small details. But i do really appreciate this video! Thanks for such a good game!
I played this game when it first launched and had a blast... but unfortunately watched it almost die. I'm happy to see that, despite that, it found it's bearings again and it's alive and kicking. Happy anniversary!!!
