I have been watching various mime tutorials on UA-cam over the last several days as (potentially if all goes well) I have my VERY FIRST (gulp!) mime gig coming up on Bastille Day! This is the BEST tutorial I have seen yet (by far) of anybody teaching ANY version of mime work. The two main things I learned that nobody else really stressed like this dude were the conceptS that THE WALL doesn't have to be perfectly flat and to relax about that (as long as one is doing a halfway decent job of presenting the imagined reality) and also the importance of the acting… To really FEEL the emotion and not hide them but incorporate and use emotion which could actually trump technique (I'd say if someone had perfect technique but lacked emotional connection with the movements etc., that MIGHT be inferior to having FAIR technique and excellent emotional connection :-)
Thanks so much for your wonderful words about Tony's mime tutorial. Tony is no longer with us but there is a new legacy website for Tony Montanaro where you can find his full 4 hour mime course and a lot of information about his life and achievements with opportunities of where to studio physical theater. It's at www.mimespokenhere.com. Good luck with your first mime performance!
