I think they play everything in C standard. For the guitar gauge i wouldnt know but if you have something short like a gibson some .12 would work but if you are rocking something like a Ibanez then some .11 would work. Hope this help ;)
C standard. We're both currently using Elixir 12-52, but they are damn near impossible to find right now so I just ordered some Cleartone and NYXL packs to try out.
In some of the riffs it almost looks like Malcolm is “directional” picking, but then in the solo the fast runs look like normal alternate picking. I have the Revenant tab book, my brother gave it to me on my birthday, but not this one yet. I think it would be awesome to have pick direction notation in it, but I suppose that would be too much of a pain in the ass.
I think you are overthinking it. Just play the notes how YOU play them. You're never going to soundl like me and I'm never going to sound like you. Just use what we do to build a path to build your own style or playing/sound. You'll be happier this way in the long run or you'll be in a prison forever.
Hello @inferiofficial, my partner is a huge fan of this album specifically Simian Hive. There is a background sound around the second half of the song. What back instrument was added to the breakdown on the second part of the song? Around time mark 2:00 I only hear the organ this song has been on replay to try to mail down the instrumentals sounds. He thinks there is a wind instrument in there that is making a low tone to built the darkness of the song. Please help and many thanks 🙏
