I commented before that Emma thinks of starters and finishers as part of a fluid tactical approach within games. I reckon the idea if a starting eleven needs to go "in the trash" as you US folk say.
Changes are not just substitutions, but a way of targeting the opponent once tired or settled into a way of play. The most effective team for the tactics may not be the best eleven players.

So do the two 6s play more like two 10s because we camp out in their half? I'd like both Cat and Lily on the ball more and playing Cat as a 9 and Lily as a 6 defeats that purpose.
Lavelle and Cat will be restricted in minutes. I think Smith starts at 9 and Cat finishes at 9. I think Shaw starts at 10 and Lavelle finishes.
I like Lisa's line up but for me, Rodman is not the way. She needs more development. Sophia Smith is a much better choice. Her skill and soccer IQ are higher than Rodman's.
Same Smith is a no brainer as a number 9 .
Yeah not having Soph in their starting lineups, not even first off the bench and no mention almost seems purposely done. I know it’s hard to set biases aside but no forward has been in the form she’s been in, not even Shaw. I’m confused with Macario starting for them. With so much time missed, to me she should be coming off the bench. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hayes favors her though. Right now when I think about goal scoring I think about Smith.
@@budoshi-f2l Wing too. She’s improved her club this year. She’s looked ridiculously good on the right wing for club. Need time and development there for country. Don’t want her locked in at only the 9. She versatile enough to move across the line
She’s one of the best attackers in the world -and she absolutely is the best defensive player in the world at her position as an attacker,not even close.

Sophia is a great talent but not consistent/mature enough yet and just coming off injury. She didn't do so well in the WC. Needs a bit more time.
She’s looked way too good not to start. I’d understand if they said they didn’t have her there due to injury but no mention. Either way she’s been practicing and in Soph’s words she’s good to go
@@shawny5338No one did good in the WC. That should not be a measuring stick for her. If that were the case why is Rodman starting and Macario who hasn’t played significant minutes for country in 2 years? Both starting lineups lack scoring, especially Lisa’s. Dunn, Macario and Swanson. Want to start fast but where is the scoring coming from?
@@candacelong7643 Not true. The team didn't do well but we had plenty of good performers. Horan, Girma, the defense. Even Alex did well doing what was asked of her. The trouble was the team selection, tactics and lack of adjustments by Vlatko. Anyway, we don't have a dominating forward like Abby or Alex in their best years. It will have to be team effort and hopefully Sophia, Trinity or Macario will start to produce and become that next star we think they will be?

Rodman plays the whole field up & back, she defends as well, she needs seasoning, she is a total baller, Coach will figure out how to use her, let’s assume Coach Hayes will bring out the best in the squad.

When I saw the way Emma pushed the idea of the 'Chelsea way ' the passion she showed for the idea that as a Chelsea player you must honor the team's legacy. I'm very interested to watch if she will be able to instill in these player the honor and duty that comes with playing for your country.
I want Emma to tell every single player to respect our anthem!
