Good grief that place looks rundown. Thanks for the great video by the way! I really like your way of narrating the video and the way you edit the audio.
You should take another visit they just completed the front of the new Hobby Lobby and are currently painting the whole mall the match! I am so glad that they are renovating this mall for my city!
Thank you so much for an update on this little slice of history! I grew up in Mt. Airy and spent many afternoons in this mall, but I haven't had a chance to visit the town in years. I often wonder how the town is doing, seems to be suffering from a case of all the young people (myself included) moving to bigger cities, dwindling the towns income.
Thanks, I am getting hooked on these mall videos. Fascinating stuff. I just checked Mayberry Mall's website and it says they are open and have 5 or 6 tenants and available retail space. I hope that's accurate.
Update: the mall is in a decent state with a brand new paint job on the outside and hobby lobby is doing excellent and other restorations are nice as well also i heard recently that some other stores are set to move in
JEEBUS...that poor mall! How sad is it to look down that long corridor and see, well, NOTHING. Poor Andy, Barney, Ain't Bea and Opie; where is they goan go to shop? (Great job, Dooms!!)
My family went there back when the Hallmark store got their Christmas ornaments. It looks like there's been a bit of progress since then. Keep in mind I said "bit"
Does anyone else remember when there was a monkey cage in the common area? I was a kid and I remember they were kind of stinky but fun to watch. They took the monkeys out in the late 1970s or early 1980s.
Can you come back to here? I think they are remodeling the mall?? I'm not 100% sure, but just incase, come back please! EDIT! The one thing I want in this mall is for Bath & Body Works to come back! They had closed from the roof leaks, and was later gutted, with th rest of the other stores, including Hibbit Sports, "The Shoe Dept." store, that had later moved into JCPenney, Maurices and Rue 21.
GOOD NEWS: Hobby Lobby is coming to Mayberry Mall, and will fill in the former Kmart space. Space for lease is now available in the mall as well.
I live near the mall and the owners are doing very well so far with the mall also hobby lobby is a store that is very popular now
Also thxz for the history and as much as u do i dont want to see the mall die

I love this comment.

I just watched your original Mayberry Mall video, and the difference in the mall's condition is totally shocking.

Wow, where do you do all your research for these malls? So thorough!
Sad. Looks like this one is on it's last legs.
Great video. Great narration. Sad. Thanks.
Once the roof has problems the rest goes downhill fast. Roanoke Va. Where I am from
Do you remember the first mall crossroads mall ?
it's sad what the mall had to sadly go through
Yikes! The decay in this mall is very bad! So sad to see!
Kohan owns lincoln mall in matteson and they own Crystal river mall berkshire mall in pittsboro Massachusetts and the one and only jamestown mall

I've saw this mall very often and saw jcpenney when open then shoe dept now I see a video
Was it really the world's smallest JC Penney or is that just a figure of speech?
Figure of speech. It was the smallest JCPenney I've seen in person, though.
A New Hobby Lobby coming into the Mayberry Mall thats great news
Shoe Dept found his home of JCPenney place
I remember there was a small arcade there
Also rual king opened their first store in NC which is in Morganton
Leave it to Kohan to screw this place up! Not like their any better than Moonbeam though...
