궁금해서 그러는데 왜 뽑기가 우리나라 전통음식이라고 하나요? 암튼 전통은 아니지 않나요? 암튼간에 어렸을적 우리동네 뽑기할아버지가 생각나네요. 외롭게 혼자서 일하시던… 먼저는 수레마차 하시던분이셨는데 언제가 뽑기를 하시더라구요. 그때는 가난한분들이 하시던 일이었는데… 아무튼 옛날 그 할아버지가 그립고 많이 생각이 나네요 어려서 제대로 대화를 한적이 없지만. 지금은 돌아가셨을테고…에구 정말 누가 타임머신을 발명하면 좋겠네요 옛날로 돌아가게
I'm a Korean old man born and grown up in Seoul. In the early 60's, after Korean War sugar was so expensive, so we put soda into melted sugar to make it bigger. Popped sugar with soda was very sticky, so we applied cotton seed oil very thinly onto a steel plate instead of sugar powder. For promotion the sellers made figures on it, and if you made it you could get one more. As I told you sugar was expensive, there was artificial sugar called Dalgona. So originally Dalgona was popped candy made from artificial sugar.
I like that dalgona’s been trending recently because of Squid Game. It reminds me of when dalgona coffee trended during the first few weeks of the pandemic, haha
Ya I just ordered this candy from a Korean candy company. I got suggestions on UA-cam about it, probably from squid games which I knew nothing about until now lol
I am just so happy to all Dalgona candy sellers out there who are benefiting to the success of Squid Game, there's a reason why this show became successful as it is, and one of them is to help out businesses like this who was struck hard by the pandemic, hopefully you sellers would be able to fully recover from the effects of this pandemic. No stress? Rewatch the episode. Those who didn't finish the game in the small amount of time given, either by just not being done when time was up or by breaking it early, were shot. The stress of knowing your life is on the line, the stress of hearing others around you get shot, even the stress of finding out what game it was and realizing that you chose a much more complex shape which could result in you not finishing on time.
Matthew Davis i’m pretty sure the original commenter was referring to the people who played the dalgona game on the street, not the players of squid game. obviously if you’re just doing it for fun, your hands are gonna be a lot less shakey than if you’re life’s on the line, hence why the original commenter isn’t impressed when people can successfully do it outside of squid game

You can see circles form when he pushes down on it, this is why it’s so hard to get perfect, because every candy is built different on the inside because of the chain reaction with the baking soda, so each candy cracks in different ways
the one with the handler is also easier to do, you just need to lift the handle without even looking at it but you need to have some sort of attention to the one without a handler
i know this is very random but i love the fact that youtube has included these all translations which allows everyone of us to interact with each other without the language barrier

crazy to see that this candy used to be salvation for parents back then. not long after korean war ended, poor people were everywhere, but kids are kids and they were begging for some sweets like chocolate (they saw US armies ate this), thus dalgona was made by parents who had no money because they wanted to see the kids happy
We have the same street candy in Bangladesh too. Here it's called "Kotkoti". It used to be so popular. The hawkers would take old stuffs like old clothes, pots, pans, papers and in exchange give this candy to the children. our parents always tell us stories of them exchanging old stuffs from their home to get this candy. It's still pretty popular in villages but in city it's not seen at all.

맞아요 저도 촬영 비하인드 영상에서 감독님이 말씀하시는 거 봤는데 거기서 원래 납품된 달고나가 너무 두꺼워서 전날인가 당일날에 다른 장인분 섭외해서 스탭들이랑 하루종일 달고나 만들었다고 했어요 그래서 스탭들이 농담반 진담반으로 사표낼 뻔 했다고 하고

We have the same street candy in Bangladesh too. Here it's called "Kotkoti". It used to be so popular. The hawkers would take old stuffs like old clothes, pots, pans, papers and in exchange give this candy to the children. our parents always tell us stories of them exchanging old stuffs from their home to get this candy. It's still pretty popular in villages but in city it's not seen at all.
That is the most perfect dalgona i've ever seen.

그리고 침발라서 뽑으면 인정 안해줌~ ㅋㅋㅋ
어떤것은 정밀하게 강한불에 부러진 부분을 순간적으로 녹인다음 살짝 그곳을 양쪽에서 압박하여 다시 붙쳐서 눈속임 으로 속인적도 있었죠~ㅋㅋㅋ
너무 잘알 뽑아다 주면 주인장이 일부러 눌러~ 줄때 편차을 줘요~한쪽 방향은 깊게 한쪽 방향은 두껍게 말이죠!!!
그렇게 하면 100% 실패 하죠!ㅎㅎㅎ
여기도 아니네 달고나 납품된거 두꺼워서 사용못하고 달고나마스터 초빙해서 현장에서 직접 만들었다고 오징어게임 인터뷰할때 대놓고 말했는디...
