  • From 2020 to 2023, the German Library Association (dbv) supported more than 650 libraries in their development into contemporary Third Places as part of the "Vor Ort für Alle" funding program. The Twistringen public library was among the institutions supported. With the help of the funding, the library's collection was converted to RFID and a self-checkout system was installed. When the library moves to a new building soon, this will now offer the opportunity to develop it further into an Open Library.
"Vor Ort für Alle" was funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) on the basis of a resolution of the German Bundestag. The funding came from the federal program "Rural Development" (BULE) of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
