Patsy Cline returns to Carnegie Hall! How magical that Allison Krauss chose to sing this at this Opry performance. Cline made her Carnegie Hall debut with The Opry on November 29, 1961 and was quite a sensation with the audience, so much so that she had several standing ovations. When Dorothy Kilgallen called them "hicks from the sticks" Patsy shot back "If I ever meet that wicked witch of the east, I'll let her know just how PROUD I am to be a hick from the sticks!"
Well...in all fairness...one cannot improve on the perfection and soul that was Patsy. That said, this is an outstanding version with real feeling and great playing from the musicians who understand it's their job to make their star shine!
I love Patsy, and I love Alison Kraus, this an amazing song, but it’s NOT a country song, it’s a du wap song. I like Allison’s pure rendition, but I’ve argued with lots of people that this was the cross over song for patsy, that led to sweet dreams.
@@tjpassig208 The songwriter actually requested that she do it because she was his favorite singer. Alison definitely wouldn't have done it otherwise.
this performance needs a love button, like is just not enough
She owns every single thing she sings. It's just that simple.
Alison Krauss is the best that ever was or ever will be.
she's that Loretta Lynn everyone was waiting for
Sorry that song belongs to Patsy Cline!
I'm a Patsy Cline Fan but Alison Krauss Is the best singer in the world!

I’m a huge fan of Allison, but no one can sing this song like Patsy Cline. No one.
Its not a competition. Its a tribute.
Alison Forever!!! Break A Leg, girl!!! :-)
Love ❤️ her voice so beautiful. She is a great artist. ❤
Hank Cochran requested that she sing this song because she was his favorite singer.

she's that Loretta Lynn everyone was waiting for
I enjoyed watching Jerry Springer on the drums.
Well...in all fairness...one cannot improve on the perfection and soul that was Patsy.

She’s just as magical. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.
She need to do another album of songs of the artists like this Patsy Cline.
Where Can I Get This On Record.
Both Alison and Loretta put so much more emotion in this song, although I loved Patsy Cline.
She's good ,but something is missing ,the Cline touch me thinks
Jerry Douglas used to live by us in levitsburg ohio
Those unacknowledged solos by Ron Block and Jerry Douglas.. maybe I just couldn't hear the audience.

I really like Alison Krauss as well but if I was a singer I would never sing a Patsy Cline song you just can't measure up.
Then how do you explain this? No disrespect to the late and great Patsy Cline whatsoever. Alison's performance is untouchable.
It was requested by the songwriter because she was his favorite singer.
Rehanne Rhimes does it better
Yes. I agree. Alison did this as a request from a gentleman from the opery. She did not want to do it. she said oh geez when he asked. Lol
Guessing you mean LeAnn Rimes. And I disagree, respectfully. I don't even think it's that close.
FWIW, my wife agrees with you, citing the passion and fullness of Rimes' voice.

I agree. She actually has a voice that's very close to Patsy.
perfect cover
