  • This is an excerpt from my Fiberygoodness course on Bulky Yarns. The course takes you from selecting the right fibers, through spinning, plying, and into finishing and using big bulky yarns. This is the section extracted to show how I prefer to finish most of my art yarns, this method allows the fiber to bloom, enhancing the bulk and texture, and it gives a layer of stability to the finished yarn. You can find out more on fiberygoodness.com!

I've never seen anyone do a cold bath after the hot. I am intrigued. What is the purpose? It doesn't felt? The yarn is really cool. I would love to see what you make with it.

It doesn't felt, but it does allow the outer layer of fibres to gain some structure as the scales close up in the cold water and kind of grab onto each other. It is more 'fulling' than felting
