In remote viewing, an Analytical Overlay (AOL) is when our conscious mind plays charades with the data to try to guess what it is. If I say "orange, bumpy, spherical," my brain may start to guess and go "oh! I know! It's a basketball!" But it could just be an orange fruit or something else. We're supposed to describe, not name, so when we do have name/nouns pop into our head, we usually declare them as AOL.
