Angela Mao was very successful in her own films, but Enter The Dragon was about Bruce avenging the death of his sister and destroying Han, so sadly she was relegated to a four minute part.
Angela Mao's Su Lin was my very first introduction to the Female Badass depicted on screen/tv. I remember seeing this for the first time as a little kid and was amazed that this 'girl' was beating up all these 'guys'. So tough-as-nails, as they used to say. This was one of my favorite parts of the whole movie, and was saddened that she died. And that's what made Mr. Lee's emphatic jump-stomp on O'hara's chest and/or neck so satisfying!
She fought valiantly. I always cry when she kills herself and we cut to Bruce's character learning this truth. Also, Anela Mao is making a very rare autograph convention appearance this weekend Oct 27-28 at Chiller Theatre in Parsippany, NJ. I envy those who will get to meet her. What a legend!
I loved this scene as kid, how she fought well against many, but it always confused me how she still killed herself in the end. As an adult i can see she was taking damage and was tiring out. She fought a good fight but she still had to deal with an angry O’Hara and a couple of men who didn’t go down as fast. Her choice of suicide was a way out of a brutal rape and possibly killed. She would rather go out her way than go through something traumatic. Angela Mao did a wonderful job here, I wish she was in this film more.
This is when movies were actually still entertaining. I think CGI should be banned from all movies. It destroyed the industry. Stunts and special effects should be done the old way again.
Why did they want to capture the sister and what can possibly happen in your imagination if she allowed herself to be captured and imprisoned if she did not chose to kill herself?
@@to.kanali She was one of his Students. Mao was also trained by Linda Lee. Linda learned Cantonese because the Family lived in Hong Kong(They moved there after Hollywood Blackwashed Lee and gave Kung Fu TV Series to David Carradine instead.) Carradine was WHITE and According to RedLetterMedia "Died of Autoerotic Asphyxiation".
Angela Mao was a great martial arts actress! This has always been a favorite fight scene for me but what I resent about this fight scene is Bruce Lee's "superiority complex" meaning I hate how he reduce Angela Mao to a damsel in distress, it frustrates me. Angela Mao motivated me into Hapkido and to see my favorite martial arts actress reduced to only a damsel in distress instead of a badass kickass kung fu fighter like how Bruce Lee is portrayed in this film is infuriating for me sometimes. Angela Mao deserve more screen time, she didn't even get to fight alongside her bro Bruce let alone enter Han's tournament. Bruce Lee the main character aka The Big Star was given all the glory and credit while Angela Mao received little recognition.
3:40 - spooky symbolism - forcing a woman into a reluctant choice of what to have plunged deep into her stomach - a big fatal shard of glass or about 10 different penises in succession - when she'd normally pick neither of those options of course - a lot of movies were like that back then - if remade now this scene would probably end differently even if she still died.
Maybe the director wanted to make a point about the basic rule of martial art: first you try to get away of the situation, then you fight if you really have to, but only to defend yourself.
Great sequence. I wish she had a bigger role in the film. She is by far one of my favorite female action stars of that era.

That spin kick at 1:38 is a thing of beauty. I’m amazed every time I see it. That whole scene is so well executed, filmed and choreographed. Amazing 😀
I saw this movie in a theater when the movie was first released. A big "oooh" came up from the crowd when she did it.
I totally agree with you. This is also my favourite scene of Angela Mao from this amazing movie of Bruce Lee 👍🏽👌🏽💪🏾
to this day, my brothers and I call that the cleanest spin-kick we've seen in kung-fu films
@@seanledden4397 Who is Angela Mao if I may ask?
I've always loved that spin kick. As well as the hook kick at 1:45
If the little sister can fight like that, beware the older brother!
Dang Straight!!!
I would be more aware of grand mother in stead!!!
Yes, boards don't kick back.
Damn straight!! That's the perfect comment!!
Esta buena la película debería haber en español

Beautiful Angela Mao
She took more than a couple on the chin and still fought like a champ her skill set and grit in this scene was pure unadulterated ass whooping not cgi

In a movie she could have taken a .50 BMG and an RPG 7 in the chest and still kept on fighting. Are yiu sure yiu can distinguish a movie from reality?
Yes, especially as an entire group of men were intent on raping her.

I had a crush on her since I was young boy back in the early seventies
Angela Mao is even better on her own, where she looks less vulnerable and uses a lethal leg lock.
When she used lock?? I wanna see that
@@to.kanali Hapkido, made a year before Enter The Dragon.

Why did they want to capture the sister and what can possibly happen in your imagination if she allowed herself to be captured and imprisoned if she did not chose to kill herself?

Why would she stop running just to go around that pole @1:04??
It's because fear partially or wholly paralyses one's mind. She had to deal with so many beasts!
I always said that even as a kid. So stupid an makes zero sense
Había un RIO idiota!!
she goes one way and then looks down and sees that it is too far to jump down or across, so has to run the other way instead.
