    Pre-Colonial Era 1500s:
    The area which is now called the New York City was inhabited by various Native American tribes including lenape .They lived in the region for thousands of years, hunting, fishing, and farming.
    1524
    The Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, sailing under the flag of France, was one of the first Europeans to explore the New York Harbor.
    In 1524, he reached the New York Bay.
    1626
    In 1626, Manhattan Island was purchased by Dutch explorer Peter Minuit from Native Americans for 24 dollars and founded a colony called New Amsterdam.
    1700s
    In the early 1700s, New York was a growing colonial settlement with a diverse population and a developing economy.
    1776
    In the American Revolution, New York played a pivotal role with battles, such as the Battle of Long Island and the capture of the city by the British in 1776. The city became the capital of the United States from 1785 to 1790.
    19th Century

      it's happening frm the pre-colonial era and was almost the same 200 years but now new york has been changed
