Wow you were there! I used to watch this over and over on VHS when it came out. All of it is great but standouts for me are this, Stevie wonder, Neil young doing just like Tom thumb, petty doing license to kill, vedder, Richie havens, Clapton, and of course Dylan particularly north country. Also Sinead O'Connor's rehearsal of I believe in you was great, pity she didn't get to perform...great band!! Hopefully you had a good vantage point..
Dina, Next to having attended Woodstock, having attended this concert is about as significant a musical, cultural and sociological badge of honour as there is.
I was there IN PERSON and someone else here said it...BEST concert I EVER saw or ever WILL see. I bought a Blu Ray player and the disc of the concert but could never watch it because the player was in my mother's room and she was basically always in there. Even when she was hospitalized, I never found the time to watch the DVD. Now that she has passed away, her room is now vacant and I'm using it as a TV viewing room until I turn it back into a bedroom and I sat down today to watch the DVD. OMG!!!! I couldn't get over how many legends from back then are gone....Johnny & June Cash, Richie Havens, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Duck Dunn, probably so many others. I count myself blessed that I got to see all of these great artists on ONE STAGE on ONE NIGHT for a concert of a lifetime. No question about it.
Nice to see the shout outs and some shots of Al Kooper playing organ. I don't think the man has ever gotten the credit he deserves for his decades of contributions to the music world. He is a gem, the story of how he ended up playing organ in the original Dylan recording of this song is a great one.
I listened this show live from La Coruña, up to this day i cant believe it was broadcasted live. Every song. It was some hours difference, i was in bed with my earphones, and i couldn’t help jumping inside
An of the more great songs from the last century, a classic impossible to forget from the great teacher Bob Dylan, a representative of the 1970s folk song.
Great! Fantastic rendition. My kingdom for the name of the singers that put on a show. like a rolling stone My kingdom for the name of the singers that put on a show. like a rolling stone
I hate to correct Joseph, but the white lady is Sue Medley, not Sophie B Hawkins. I saw her open for Dylan once. This performance is even mentioned in her Wikipedia entry en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sue_Medley. The other woman was one of Mellencamp's regular backup singers, don't know her name but I saw her a few times as a backup for Mellencamp
The musicians on this track is Mr: Mellencamp, Mr. Cooper. The rest of this band U will find the names if U buy the DVD/BR called: "Bob Dylan 30th Anniversary." Highly recommended. Have a nice Easter to you all!!
Segun los entendidos de la musica entre las 10 mejores canciones de todos los tiempos esta es la numero uno. Investiguenlo de tarea.La diferencia aqui es que todos tienen a Dylan en la sangre empezando por The Band .
novembaer69, I was trying to remember his name just as I stumbled upon your comment. Sometimes he plays with Jim Keltner, who kinda drums counterpoint. The combination of the two is magical.
Agree just found this video today and the description left me dissappointed , the beauty in a song will often be the understated and the simple. This was just so over the top, perhaps typical of the time period.
It’s 1992 rendition, no in-ears monitor but only on stage monitors and probably a lot of noise on stage for this song that was the first of this concert.......I arrived in NYC 10 days too late to see this concert 😢😢😢
Completely disagree, everyone has their own interpretation of this classic, maybe those two ladies know how it feels to be on their own? Don't judge people who grew up with Dylan when they cover Dylan.
Bob Dylan's songs are the best to cover, it's gold for everybody.
John, the great! Anybody in 2024????
2025!
To this day, the best live concert I ever attended (and there have been many more;)

Timeless isn't it?
@@PHC002 Indeed!!! I always wondered why Rod Stewart didn't perform since he has always been such a great interpreter of Dylan material? 🤔
The Blue Ray is fantastic, but I don´t understand why they left out Sophie B. Hawkins!
I was there too!
I watched this 30 yrs ago on a PBS special. My how time flys.
