I went flying with my dad today in real life. He was doing patterns to stay current on a Cessna 172 at a certain airport and let me do most of the pattern till just before the flare and touch down. I'm looking forward to start taking official lessons and starting a career as a commerical Helicopter pilot.
Nicely done. Some tips to remember: 65kts best climb speed, safe speed for approach 65 kts one stage of flaps, 60 kts two stages of flaps. At 500fts AGL, FELT check (Flaps up, Engine T's & P's in the green, Landing light off, Trim) Then in down wind leg, pre landing check: BUMPFILCHH (Brakes off, Undercarriage down and locked, Mixture rich, Mags both ON, Prop set, Fuel sufficient, Instruments Ts and Ps in the green, Di and compass aligned, Ammeter charging, suction registering, Landing light ON, Carb heat ON, Carb Heat off, Hatches dans Harnesses checked) Hope this helps. That's how I learned and got my PPL on the C152 in London. ;)
Awesome job man! Few things for criticism NOT on you but for MSFS. 1. I wish the checkride for solo was like the real life one, expecting you to start on the ramp with cold and dark cockpit use ATC all the way wi clearance for every stage and finish back on the ramp the same way. 2. I would love if the Flight Training section resembled more closely to the real deal, with Ground School study material to go through and courses organised in all main stages (PPL, CPL, IFR, ATPL) with the appropriate check rides for each stage. MSFS did have that type of flight training in one version in the past and it was awesome as it brought you from a complete noob to airline status pilot in a few weeks of training (if taken seriously). Obviously it doesn’t have to be as tedious and meticulous as the real deal, as only very few would be encouraged to finish it, but it could be structured in such a way that would teach incredible skills to those who truly want to go that extra mile invest more time and learn to make the best out of their flight experience. If those points are addressed they will make a kick ass Flight Training software within an already incredible Flight Simulator software package . But with less than two weeks for release one could only dream.
I did over 1000 hours in the old FSX. When I started lessons for real, from the very first lesson I was classed as an advanced student. FS really does teach you to fly. Actually, I found FS harder than a real plane. The reason is no peripheral vision in FS.
With your beautiful videos, it feels like I already know the game inside out! Could you show us what's going on with live real world traffic? Big thanks!
Hi. Love the enthusiasm and like others, can't wait. One thing I'd like to have seen in your first solo and the circuit is all of the instruments to show info on how well the axis was maintained in the turns and the rate of decent on approach. Maybe even some dubbed over comments on targets in each of the phases to add additional fine tuning to the supplied tutorial. Whatever, This was fun to watch and so raises the anticipation. Thanks for all you do. Cheers
I've never been able to figure out how m fellow flight sim users have been able to replay their landings from multiple angles. In any case, I'm sure Asobo has taken that into consideration but imagine being able to replay your landings in VR, wow.
@@AusFlightSimmer it really appears to be so far. @@gpk9993 I was going for mine in 88 and unexpected events forced a move. Now, many years later I looked into it and nearly cried. I had done 40hrs ground school back in 88 and that's now a thing of the past. No more ground instruction so there is no credit for what I've already paid for and completed. Now you have to buy $600 of their books and ground school is now left to the student to do on their own. Wet time is close to what you mentioned. Wow, that brought me back to flight school at Rangley, CO - similar scenery, landing like how I use to (nose wheel just slightly flared). Please come back with the final two lessons soon, I find it fun to watch until I can afford a PC to run the sim!
Khan Tingcang Learning to fly is something you will only learn once you have done it. Getting thrown around in a small 182 is not the same as doing it in a sim. I have my ppl and I have a home sim both feel completely different.
Only critique I really have is that when you went in for landing, your approach was so steep (which is fine) but I would have gone idle power from the outset. The dive would give you enough airspeed. Piano keys for maximum style points or just go home.
i noticed that, on his final turn/approach he hadn't gone far enough out and was a little steep, needed to bleed the speed off a bit. Still a great landing.
Great vid 👍. The sim looks really impressive doesn’t it!? I think you did really well... a lot better than I would’ve done! I hope you have a great day :)
You did follow her directions, and I readily admit that I am not a pilot, but to me it seemed as though the crosswind and base legs seemed kind of short. Just wondering, have you ever loaded in real weather at the closest airport to you home and then gone outside to see how the sky compares?
I am really enjoying all the eye candy seen in all the videos that have come out lately. There is no doubt this is a beautiful sim. I have been wondering about how it feels. I see quite a few comments that say something like this "After watching the video, it is obvious that the flight model sucks." My first thought is, how can you possibly know what a flight sim FEELS like, by watching someone else fly. So what I would like to see is some videos where while we are enjoying the eye candy, the pilot talks a little bit about how the sim feels; that is unless that is still under the NDA. Thanks.
As a professional armchair pilot I would’ve armed the speed breaks, set auto breaks to medium, use revealing thrust on landing, and ofc use a cat III ils approach.

traffic patterns at Sedona.. Being a pilot in Arizona and relatively close at KDVT deer valley airport, i can tell you, this is a recipe for disaster XD. You get nice updrafts right at both ends of the runway thanks to the hill it sits on, and the mountains all around make it overall a fairly dangerous airport to learn patterns at

I’m not sure about putting flaps at the beginning of the downwind leg and putting the engine to idle when turning base. Usually flaps at the 45° and 1500 RPM at base turn. Well done though I think you knew what you were doing better than the “instructor” 😂

Video for that will be out soon.
So far just videos with top hardwares... Is this simulator realy so pleasant with the minimal computer requirements?
I’m not sure about putting flaps at the beginning of the downwind leg and putting the engine to idle when turning base. Usually flaps at the 45° and 1500 RPM at base turn. Well done though I think you knew what you were doing better than the “instructor” 😂
ha ha ha yeah you noticed. Yes we don't put the flaps down halfway down the downwind leg where I come from. :)
is it subscription based or one time purchase please tell me?
@@AusFlightSimmer Some schools do teach that.
Aus Flight Simmer Or course! You never do that so it’s interesting that the sim tells you too. As I am training for the private pilot certificate these things definitely stand out to me now haha
Kabir II One time purchase. Check this steam link for prices: store.steampowered.com/app/1250410/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator/
