Walgreens ISSUES STARK WARNING TO U.S ECONOMY!

- Walgreens is having trouble, the sales are off, the stock price is plummeting and the CEO just announced they are closing potentially 25% of their underperforming stores due to a bad economy. So many businesses are closing and going bankrupt right now but people are still saying that things are good out there.

NO. You're mis representing whats occurring. Walgreens has behaved SO criminally and incompetently they are LOSING $ because patients DO NOT want to USE them. They bought out small mom & pop places , STOLE the customers and transferred their scrips without my permission! I had to forcefully remove my scrip to stay away from them. Your mom proved my point.
You are a good son, walking with your mom and dad.
Walgreens turns Fema camp
Imagine by Q2 2026.
The economy is grappling with uncertainties, global fluctuations, and pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.
Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. People are turning to the dollar because they think it's safer. I'm worried about my retirement savings of about $420,000 losing value because of high inflation. Where else can we keep our money?
Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.
This is definitely considerable! think you could suggest any professional/advisors i can get on the phone with? i'm in dire need of proper portfolio allocation
My CFA ’Melissa Terri Swayne’ , a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further. She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market.
Thanks for the advice. The search for your coach was simple. I investigated her well before using her services. Considering her résumé, she appears competent.
When a company that’s been around 100 years and essentially is funded by insurance starts closing their stores, pay attention.
Walgreens did not agree to the insurance terms so they aren’t covered. They chose to self destruct-taking their employees down with them. I guess they value a bigger piece of the prescription pie than they were getting.

The store near me has a big theft problem.
To be fair online shopping is continuing to have a large impact on stores, and Amazon profits are around all time highs.
Nonsense, it's a dinosaur that's 100 years old and basically just not a competitive business model anymore.
Walgreens is a bit of a special case. They have been going downhill for years. As a pharmacist, I worked for them for a few years after finishing pharmacy school. Even then in 2015 I could see the writing on the wall. Reinbursement negotiations with PBMs had been a race to the bottom, leaving razor thin margins. Due to this, they pushed for increased volume, all while cutting employee hours. I was literally checking scripts, answering the phone, working the drive thru, running front register, taking verbal prescriptions from providers etc. because had never had enough pharm techs due to cut hours. it was insane. I knew at some point they wouldn’t be able to cut any more corners. And sure enough their stock has plunged. I’m in hospital pharmacy now, and it is sooooo much better than retail
I’m a pharmacist too. Best thing Walgreens ever did for me was firing me for bringing a lasagna into the pharmacy. I was only an intern. Bunch of schmucks manage that company. The biggest schmuck was their CEO Greg Wasson, a turncoat pharmacist.

Hello Mia.
They're cute.

I found Walgreens too expensive
Yup.
It’s not a place to go for grocery shopping or convenience.
Oh really. We have CVS here too. Why ain't they closing. Their prices are the same. It's simply because Joe bye-done. He runs the Country like shite!
Michael wont say it...But I will!
@@blackworldtraveler3711and drugs, I found on numerous occasions that my prescriptions medicine are higher than other pharmacies around.
Too expensive and the atmosphere is depressing.
Here too...we only have 3 pharmacies in our small town... Walgreens is one of them. The store is ALWAYS busy, particularly the pharmacy. I only take one prescription (at 68 no less) and currently get it at Walgreens. As far as buying anything else there I don't...their prices are crazy high...I can do better elsewhere (plus I'm not a fan of their house brand as an alternative). Walgreens is in more trouble than they're admitting.
I work for CVS 17 years, theft getting bad.
That was awesome having your mom along for the video.

Worked for Walgreens last year, quit after they kept cutting my hours. I overheard a conference call that things are not going well. Theft is one of the problems.
Walgreens has always had inflated prices on all their products. Why would anyone shop there?
The deals and pharmacy mostly.. my buddy in sw oregon runs one.. says they do over a mil in sales per last years... on the coast border area
So does CVS
On the first Tuesday of the month 55+ and up gets a 20% discount at Walgreens.
I'll hit the candy aisle if I have to go there for a RX, that's about it.
For many years I bought all of my Christmas presents for my family of 10.. grandchildren and children...at Walgreens in Richfield Mn.. About six years ag so I stopped because they get too expensive

Too much debt stacked on top of debt to avoid a recession for decades…
Right
The USD is going out of business.
One thing they are doing now is exploiting their workers. Giving them double and triple the work, and firing those who are unable to handle the work of two people, for the price of one. What an abuse 😭
I think we're seeing that in a lot of businesses in the last 2 years. Not hiring. Firing people or watching them leave. And then the folks who are left just get stuck with the extra work... with no raises. And they're just told to "think positive" / not talk about it / not question leadership / accept it. At least, that's what I'm seeing.
@@DR4296I saw that and was even one of those doing the work of ten men right after 911.
Walgreens is overpriced and they know it, yet they are shocked. What a poorly run company.
This is why they are closing, not a "bad economy." Everyone today blames everyone but themselves for their poorly run businesses.
Massive lootings by 'content of character', too. All similar stores without security got hit not just Walgreens.
My daughter was a pharmacist/manger for Walgreens for several years. The pressure, stress especially during Covid was very difficult for her. She would work very often 14+ hrs a day sometimes 7 days a week, had very little time for her family. She finally quit went to work in the pharmacy at the regional hospital. She has more time with her kids and family now. More than a few pharmacists quit this company.
@@thethaovatoquoc312 Living the fantasy online dream huh? That has very little to do with anything but your hurt feelings. Theft has always been, and always will be a thing... it's nothing newly invented to destroy the world.
All pharmacies have been committing evil acts against the American people. It's called "drug pushing" and thats why the US military seized all customers and doctors data. Inflation is just the cover story. This is all a psyop. Inflation is the excuse to shut down corporations involved in crimes against humanity.

I worked at Walgreens 1999-2000 as assistant manager during college. At that time their main strategy was building stores like crazy. They gave us mugs celebrating the xxxxxth store built. It was a big deal. We were extremely busy. It's crazy to see the reversal now.
Ours is a ghost town except the dope drive thru.
Walgreen can't compete with Amazon. No surprise here.
amazon also just got pillpack which autoships and does better accuracy than common pharmacy.. delivered to door
More like no one can compete with Amazon thats a monopoly
Or Walmart.
Yep while I hate Amazon, the reality is they are slowly killing brick and mortar retail, as more and more people prefer to shop online than drive to the local mall.
I cant believe people shop at amazon. They are part of the problem
The cost of items at CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens is higher than other places.
I LAWYS FOUND BARGAINS AT RITE AID IF I BOUGHT STUFF ON SALE.

I plan to retire at 62 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life. It is a good sign for Pharmacists! If we can remember all the way back to the 60's and 70's, most pharmacies where owned by the pharmacist, a local in the community. Now a days, maybe only a handful actually still exist. This will give them a chance to sprout backup. Walgreens has learned that you can't be in every single market and stay competitive. Pharmacist here, 3 points from my perspective:
1- Walgreens business model is not sustainable. Huge stores with sky rocketing rent, while the pharmacy that brings in at least 70% of the sales is tucked in at the end of the store and doesn't need all the space.
2- Walgreens aim is to eliminate competition by buying small independent pharmacies. They buy up those stores, move their patient to a nearby Walgreens then close that down and force ppl to mail order pharmacy.
3- there's a rumor saying that Walgreens CEO who was Express scripts CEO is trying to merge the 2 companies and boost their mail order business hence the stores closures.
I don't think I would like "mail order" takes longer to receive the medication to the patient, especially if the patient needs to receive it ASAP.
This is convenient to the Drug Company and NOT for the patient. Sounds backwards.
This just happen to me , I went to pick up my medicine , Tuesday 6/25 , well Walgreen didn't have it. The lady said it will be there speaking about Wednesday 6/26 , well it wasn't there again,

Also, what's their marketing strategy? As a consumer, why should I go to them instead of CVS or Walmart? Maybe I just totally ignore their ads or something, but I can't tell you any thing that THEY'VE got that their competitor CVS does not.

I also believe a factor is that people are waking up to how unnecessary much of medicine is.
I try to stay way from medications because of the possible side effects. Plus I’m not sure if the medication is working. I have heard that people have gotten sugar pills instead of medication. Not sure if that is true.
I understand that some medications are necessary to sustain quality of life. One of the reasons Walgreens is closing stores is their prices. They are as much as 40% higher than Walmart or Amazon. I once saw a single button cell battery there for almost $7. I bought the same brand from Amazon in a pack of 5 for about $5. This is just one example. You have to be at least a little competitive.
At the end when only Amazon is left it will also be 7 Dollars per battery.
Another good one Michael, love your mom. You’re both straight shooters, speaking from experience,& observation. Have a great evening,& weekend.💯🫶🏾💜✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
An emergency fund is crucial. Even if it's a very small amount, keep squirreling it away and do not touch it unless there is a job loss. It could be the difference between being financially uncomfortable for awhile versus total financial devastation. The old folks were right about this one.
so sweet you shared your dad and now your mom with us all.....
Check prices at ALDI - a German company- or LIDL -another German company- and You see how Walmart is ripping You off
in Nw michigan, Aldi just moved in across the main road from wallyworld 😅 cheers.. also its related to the same family as trader joes store chain
Doesn't matter if those stores aren't here. 🤷🏻♀️
@@dertythegrowerAldi actually owns Trader Joe’s. You will not see them both in the same neighborhood. I wish we had a Trader Joe’s closer where I live now. They have great natural foods at an affordable cost.
Praise Jesus Christ! HALLELUJAH AND AMEN!!!
Just an FYI…owner of Aldi and Trader Joe’s is second richest man in Germany
I worked for the Post Office as a letter carrier for thirty years, been retired for ten years now and I love your channel
I actually have a contract with walgreens and me and my guys have already closed roughly 275 stores in the last 1.5 years. In my view, they are in big trouble
Never anyone in Walgreens when I go there. Poor service and high prices
Good to see you walking with your Mom. Both of my parents are gone now, and they never could go for walks with me, because they did not "Maintain " their health, having been long time "smokers", and excessive "consumers". Please start focusing on retirement, when your ready Mike, I spent my 401K spending a year with my dad before he died, it was worth it , but I wish I had saved much more !
You should have diversified assets earlier in life so you wouldn't have had to liquidate the 401K.
@@DIVISIONINCISION The best laid plans.. sometimes go awry - learn from my mistakes - I hope your plan comes together !
I switched to CVS from Walgreens, because they keep messing up my orders. It wasn't pharmacy's staff fault, it was the computer system they were using. PS: My friend works at one of them.
CVS keep messing up medicine too I got to count my fiance medicine before we leave out sad because he need it & Walgreen close one store by me & a Ride Aid near me in Pennsylvania
I really enjoy your videos, I am still working part time as a plumber I am 75 years old and yes I do have 3 monthsand more saved along with a bit of precious metals. I used to drive a new car all the time but now I have an older Buick in good condition. I hate paying for new cars ect. and lose to depreciation so now I have cars that are totally paid for and I don't care if they depreciate LOL I also have an older town house with a very small mortgage which includes taxes, so am in no rush to pay it off I no longer want to have many things as things are not the most important part of my life.
The local Walgreens in my NYC neighborhood was closed down to rampant theft that increased tremendously after 2 homeless shelters were opened in 2020 in the area. The store manager told me they were losing more than 50K per *MONTH* in stolen merchandise. Now I have to be a CVS customer too--and it's more expensive and out of the way.
Listen to your Elders 🌟
Best advice I've heard all Year !
Walgreens used to seem like they cared about their customers. Nowdays it’s like a ghost store with few clerks to help in finding items or checking out.
When a store complains about inflation but raises their prices a huge amount, continues to give their top executives huge pay raises and their is ample evidence that most of the inflation is corporate greed/they don't need to raise prices that much then I have negative sympathy for the store I will dance on the stores grave.
Their prices are TOO high! Their prices are TOO HIGH! THEIR PRICES ARE TOO HIGH!!!!!!
Lisa, I don't know what your financial situation is currently. But if you could procure yourself some nachos...life will immediately improve.
No one has any health insurance to cover prescriptions it's not that they're too high nobody has any health insurance or prescription insurance that's usually given to you through a job those days are over😢

Big thumbs up from Taiwan. Good way to practice my long forgotten English and understand current US economy at the same time, while visiting beautiful scenery in the background. 👍👍👍
That's great to see you with your parents making these hometown videos. From Miami to Rockford is quite a jump to visit!
Cherish your time!
I love the way he respects his parents.
You have to wait in line forever whenever I go there, and the pharmacy is regularly out of what I need, not to mention the high prices. And, they are usually in very busy places with high traffic so it’s a pain in the butt just getting in and out of their lot.
The hard truth is that the cost of living will always rise. The hardest part in life is to stay ahead of it.
All by design...
Wages always rise too.
Michael, Hello I love your channel. Walgreens closed their Orlando distribution center and about 400 employees were laid off without notice.
I stopped at my Walgreens yesterday and asked one of the pharmacist how many prescriptions they fill a week and was told they average around 600/day (7 days a week). They are one of the busiest stores in New Jersey and don’t think they will be on a closing list. In this area we haven’t experienced the crime/theft problem and don’t think we will because the police dept is “no nonsense”.
