  • Decadent and relaxed, the model in the painting is definitely chilling. Role model.
This drawing is based on the painting "Decadence" by Ramon Casas i Carbó (artwork in the public domain). She may look bored, but I like her vibe and I choose to think that she was dressed up ready to leave the house but decided to stay with her book, be a bit lazy, and relax. Boredom is great, it helps you choose your path ahead.
This is a study to explore how I would draw that painting in a more cartoonish style. I am still slow and clumsy with the nib and golden ink, but enjoy it nevertheless. At some moment a drop of ink fell where it should not, and I decided to see it positively and spread more ink on the dress using cloth and hands. As Bob Ross said, "It's the imperfections that make something beautiful, that's what makes it different and unique from everything else".
I should rest and read too. But first, remove the fancy gloves.

    What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it is a form of paresthesia (that tingling sensation that happens on your skin sometimes, and yes the typical pins and needles that sometimes people feel on their skin are also a form of paresthesia), often starting on the head and moving down spine and rest of the body like a wave, commonly known as "tingles". ASMR is usually triggered by audio or visual stimuli, and the triggers are diffeernt for every individual person. Researching ASMR is difficult, but from the neurology side it is already known that the brain areas stimulated are the medial prefrontal cortex (associated with social behaviors) and the secondary somatosensory cortex (associated with the sensation of touch). Not everyone experiences ASMR, but exploring varied potential triggers and the work of different ASMRtists sometimes helps. Even people who do not feel "the tingles" may listen or watch ASMR content to help them relax, sleep, and even get into a meditative state as ASMR content is usually pleasant and peaceful, promoting resting and wellbeing.
