A little calligraphy exercise writing Emperor Uda's diary about his cat:
"On the 6th Day of the 2nd Month of the First Year of the Kampo era. Taking a moment of my free time, I wish to express my joy of the cat. It arrived by boat as a gift to the late Emperor, received from the hands of Minamoto no Kuwashi.
The color of the fur is peerless. None could find the words to describe it, although one said it was reminiscent of the deepest ink. It has an air about it, similar to Kanno. Its length is 5 sun, and its height is 6 sun. I affixed a bow about its neck, but it did not remain for long. In rebellion, it narrows its eyes and extends its needles. It shows its back.
When it lies down, it curls in a circle like a coin. You cannot see its feet. It’s as if it were circular Bi disk. When it stands, its cry expresses profound loneliness, like a black dragon floating above the clouds.
By nature, it likes to stalk birds. It lowers its head and works its tail. It can extend its spine to raise its height by at least 2 sun. Its color allows it to disappear at night. I am convinced it is superior to all other cats."
Emperor Uda was the 59th Emperor of Japan and he loved his black cat. He wrote in his diary about his cat more than once, always dirven by awe and praise. I am sure that he enjoyed many relaxing and entertaining hours with his cat in the quietness of the palace.
For fun and decoration, I drew some doodles about elements in the Emperor's diary entry: the phase of the moon that night, a boat, the emblem of Minamoto clan, a traditional ribbon knot, an old and illegible coin, birds, and a cat paw's print.
Sometimes I catsit for friends. My phone is full of cat photos and videos. I miss having a cat at home, but it is not possible right now. Catsitting is a great solution, it solves my cat petting cravings and the cats get an extra human to boss around. Everybody happy.

What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and it is a form of paresthesia (that tingling sensation that happens on your skin sometimes, and yes the typical pins and needles that sometimes people feel on their skin are also a form of paresthesia), often starting on the head and moving down spine and rest of the body like a wave, commonly known as ""tingles"". ASMR is usually triggered by audio or visual stimuli, and the triggers are diffeernt for every individual person. Researching ASMR is difficult, but from the neurology side it is already known that the brain areas stimulated are the medial prefrontal cortex (associated with social behaviors) and the secondary somatosensory cortex (associated with the sensation of touch). Not everyone experiences ASMR, but exploring varied potential triggers and the work of different ASMRtists sometimes helps. Even people who do not feel ""the tingles"" may listen or watch ASMR content to help them relax, sleep, and even get into a meditative state as ASMR content is usually pleasant and peaceful, promoting resting and wellbeing.
