This post has many very creative ideas for making trellises in the home garden. You address the types of garden beds most urban gardeners have, ideas that will fit into those beds, as well as the nature of how the various vegetables grow. Last but not least, gardeners tend to look for materials that are already on hand, easy access, I expensive, and finally available at a local store. Cattle panels and old fence gates are just not practical for most of us. That green wire mesh used in the first 3 trellises (it really is not chicken wire) jumped right out at me for a tomato trellis and as well as for peas and beans. Thanks for all your ideas. Kudos to all your featured gardeners!
I like to recycle! I have a old wobbly arch and my neighbor had a wire sheet so we put them together with zip ties now I cant wait to see how it works, 😀
Nice video! I’ve been considering starting a gardening UA-cam page but I’m intimidated by the editing. I love that your video was informative but not flashy. Also great info for people on a budget, people who may not be so handy, aging, or new to gardening! Thanks :) I recently saw a video aboht a girl using ladder mesh (used for masonry). They are cheap and can be combined to make an archway similar to the last one you showed for a fraction of the price. I’m having trouble finding the material (tried tractor supply and one Home Depot), but I’m gonna do a little more research on where to get it and build one or two for this summer. I have to remember to come back and link her video because I think you’d enjoy it!
Hi from Durham UK. Thanks for your video. With sweetpeas you can keep cutting the flowers for vases and this promotes more flowers. I'm going to try and grow some this year 🙂
@DirtMagicians Planted some seeds but nothing happening as yet but Ive bought some plants as well. Can't plant out yet until end of May because we might still get frost.
Great video! We've tried a couple of ways to trellis this year and last and it was so makeshift and not very aesthetically pleasing haha (I have one video of my pea trellis that bent and eventually fell over a little - oops!) we'll definitely have to take some inspiration from this for next year!
❤❤❤ this video, ty for sharing. Regarding the gutter planter for the sweet peas.. did the lady put ends onto the gutter and did she drill holes for drainage? Thx
You have to remember to drill drainage holes in the gutter to make sure the water doesn’t get trapped killing your plants. Lots of great ideas, thanks for sharing!
12:50 Awesome Content! 🎉 I would love to make a very large, walkthrough garden that makes it feel like you’ve walked into a different world. The “trellises” would be made of very tall, sturdy skeletal structures, for the vines to not only grow, but flourish and canvas the landscape, like a natural canopy. When I say very large, I mean at least two to three stories tall with different rooms bloomed with entirely one unique species of vine in each one. I’m anticipating this to take years to grow, but be enjoyed for decades more. Would you know the best way to start this dream, to make it a reality? Or Could you point me in the right direction to get such a project done? Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
It'll definitely take a bit of time to grow in, but yes!! It's absolutely worth it. Might want to look into something like an archway trellis? These structures can create stunning focal points in your garden, and as the vines gradually cover them. It's almost straight out of a Disney movie once it everything fills in. They're super durable too.
For multiple year trellises you are also looking more at perennial vining flowers, versus vegetables which finish their growing season. It will also depend on your growing season for that as well. Wysteria might be an option. As for tall structures, cattle panels would be a great call!
Thanks! Hopefully we gave you some ideas for the next gardening season. Feel free to show some love on our latest video, How to Make Dandelion Tea: A Simple Guide ua-cam.com/video/IsvG4sKBKR0/v-deo.html&t😏
This video should have been shot earlier in the growing season so we could actually see what you're talking about. Less people, more trellis. Good idea. Poorly orchestra.
I wouldn’t complain too much considering they are giving you their opinion and their ideas for free also, just FYI there’s only two people in the video and if you didn’t like the video, you can always just move on to the next one. Next time search for how to build a trellis if that’s what you want was just a little list of different trellises you might like
Sorry but I had to stop listening at 15 seconds. People who speak for a living should learn that vocal fry is annoying to many people and you need to learn to speak normally. Work on your self esteem and you won’t need affectations to feel ok.

You can trellis/stake up zucchini and summer squash, trimming older leaves and keeping fruits off the ground.
Great tip thanks for sharing!

@@LindaLee-db6gz Ah gotcha, yes I started some indoors, I am very excited to try adding twinkle lights to my trellis for a truly magical effect!
@DirtMagicians Sounds lovely. I have solar lights in my garden. 2 of them I made from star shaped glass lamp shades they look great x
@@LindaLee-db6gz that sounds beautiful!
Great video I love it. I'll try and use what is available in my area and buy the needed equipment wisely.

You can put T post in the ground and attach cow panels as the trellis.
Yup that's another great trellis idea!
So creative!

Like your video. Hog wire is strong. Very strong
Thanks Ken! Hope it inspired you. What're you growing this time around?
Mainly Tomato 🍅
@@kenfox22 They taste 1000x better in the garden than in the store
I couldn't help but notice the beautiful "branches" running up the fence behind Kelly.... is that something one can find to buy or did she make it?
Unfortunately, you can't but it anywhere. It's one of a kind since her neighbour made it!

Yes and yes!

I was watching another channel and they used Cattle panels they are heavy duty metal 16 ft x 36 in. Around $30-
Yep! They're great! They're versatile, easy to install, doesn't take up a ton of space, and is low-maintenance.
What's tge name of the fencing that was used for Cucumber trellis?
THESE ARE THE GREATEST TRELLISES ON EARTH 😱😍

Please be careful if you using that mesh netting. Butterflies and even hummingbirds can get tangled in it.
Thanks for the reminder! We should strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all creatures!!
Does that include chicken wire?
@@joanwillison9922 We've never seen it nor had an issue, but I suppose its possible
I’ve had snakes get tangled in it as well
Zucchini can be grown vertically like any other squash. 😊
Yep! Tons of ways to trellis your veggies actually. The main idea was to inspire other gardeners to try different ones themselves ❣
Love it
Thank you :)
How deep is really really. My tape doesn’t have a really really deep on it
No music please. Tfs
I love dirt boxes

Hi mom. From Kerala,,, I like our videos, good information,, plz help me
love Kerala! it's beautiful there!
@@dirtmagicians , welcome to Kerala,
Garden dirt that is fertile enough to grow things is better termed "soil."
it is, unfortunately that name was taken! We like to think of it as magicking your dirt into soil
This is infuriating 😢 I am glad that Ember seems to be doing a bit better with traveling. 😊
I can't take the vocal fry, sorry
WHY do people put elevator musack on otherwise good videos??! WHY? Does you tube make you do it?
Wow
Up front you yakked too much. You couldn't get to the point.
Ruined by that unnecessary dreary music. That sounds like music heard when one is ushered into a funeral, awful.
Sorry but I can't watch. Your vocal fry is killing my ears.
what the heck is dollarama?!
A dollarstore! The main one here is called dollarama🤣
