Raining Fire (EAS Scenario)

  • Here is an EAS scenario examining the threats from space.
With the Chelyabinsk meteor defining the destruction meteors can bring, it's clear that meteors can strike our planet at anytime. Everyone fears the big one that would kill all life on Earth, but it should also be looked at from a smaller scale. The Chelyabinsk meteor generated an explosion that shattered windows and injured thousands of people. Combine this blast with extreme fire weather conditions, and you have a recipe for disaster.

After listening to a bunch of EAS scenarios, yours (especially this one) are my favorite. Incredibly realistic, the wording is spot on, the pacing builds the tension really well and things don't get too hokey or unbelievable (until the twist, heh). EAS stuff like this is like a ghost story. If you include the lesser-tier threats or some nonthreatening stuff, that just makes the REAL SHIT hit the fan mush harder.

radio stations: finally, everything is recovering now, thank goodness we survived that with minimal damages
that random asteroid at the ending: are you sure about that?
in all seriousness though. holy fuck this was scary. eas alerts trigger my anxiety very easily and this takes the cake. also the fact that after a meteor shower come, not a comet, not a large meteor, but an ASTEROID, in a mile-per-second charge towards the planet at the ending, mwah, absolute golden way to keep the user on their toes for a sequel.

For some reason this reminds me of everywhere at the end of time, probably because of how long it is. But other than that, I like how real this feels. I genuinely feel like the world around me is falling apart.

I've been binging these for the past couple of hours and these are fantastic!
And I have a quick question: What is the voice that plays at 14:17?
I'm working on a disaster scenario right now for my DnD campaign, and I want to put together my own EAS broadcast with this voice to freak my players out. ;)

This video is quite impressive, I enjoyed listening to it and I believe that you will soon reach the levels of the greats like Ben Marking. Unfortunately, one thing took me completely out of the immersion...where the meteorites fell, they shouldn't have all fallen in the same place. The earth rotates, so they should have fallen from east to west slowly. If you'd started in SW Kansas and eventually worked your way to, oh, Colorado Springs or Denver, with an Aspen/Vail kicker, I would have completely bought it. Still, a damn good job!
