Raw onions are a staple on most southern tables. I rarely eat supper without my onion, and in the summer, its onions, tomatoes, and cucumber. And onions with beans are a must ! Your starters are my supper in the fall and winter.
My mother-in-law put onions on just about everything! And I like onions I guess I wasn’t really sure what we were supposed to do with them. Lol and yes, I could see why that would make a good supper.❤️
I make the cucumber/tomato/sweet onion summer salad too. It's so delicious. Have you ever tried it with balsamic dressing? My favorite is the Trader Joe's brand. Our neighbors gave us some lemon cucumbers today. Guess what's on the menu tonight 😋♥️
Yay! You went to Huck Finn’s!! I am one of the subscribers that requested it😊 I got so excited when I saw you posted this video!! Though, the title had me a little worried about the ‘bad bite’. I usually cut up the onion and put it in the beans and then just eat the pickle because I love them!😂 See what I mean about the Vittles though? No need for an appetizer and you can save a little money! 👍 We’ll be there the first week of October and can’t wait to go to Huck Finn’s! Congratulations on reaching 10K subscriber’s! That awesome!!😊
Well, thank you for recommending it. I was just playing with the title when I put that in there. Lol. You are certainly right about vittles being so much that you did not need appetizer. We absolutely loved the dessert. And I can see why you look forward to going when you come in town!
Absolutely love that you included a shot of your receipt and the menu with prices at the end! It’s nice to not have to do extra research to see if it’s reasonable for our group to dine there.
Congrats on 10k. It's no surprise you got there because you're content is fun, honest and done by a lovely husband and wife team that everyone would love to have as neighbourhood friends. I also wanted to say that whoever is in charge of choosing the BGM is doing a banger of a job. They always sound goods and fit your videos so well. Good stuff.
I've eaten there a couple of times and enjoyed it. Really hits the spot if you're in the mood for seafood. I'm a tartar girl, too, Jen! Great review! ❤
David likes going to Huck Fin's because of the size of the tea glasses (jars). The portion sizes here are always so generous. Everything looked delicious.
I'm happy you tried huck finns it's been a long time since I've been there.. they have awesome food the service was wonderful I recommend that place to everyone.. thank you for broadcasting this and have a safe trip home
That all looked very good. I think I would have just the catfish. 😋 The onion is good to cut up a little and have with the beans and hush puppies. The cobbler has me drooling! Thanks for the great reviews you do. I've lived here since 2009 and have never been there...time to try it! 😉
Well, thank you for joining us! We had never been there before which is kind of crazy I know but I’m glad that we stopped. It was actually really good and we both said we would get just catfish next time.
Thanks for another great experience dining out!! We moved from the south to New England recently and I really miss places like this! Congrats on passing the 10k number of subs, your channel will grow quickly! 🎉
We love huck Finn’s catfish and sides , we always have pickle relish and onions with soup beans and cornbread (hush puppies) and slaw . I keep frozen hush puppies to have on hand if I’m pressed for time instead of cornbread. ❤❤
Well, the pickle relish makes sense more than the dill pickle I guess. Good idea on the frozen hush puppies probably easy to heat up in an air fryer.!!
Looks great I'm going with Rich's meal next time put the onions on your beans I'm from Georgia we put onions on pinto beans any kind have a great weekend love you guys ❤️😊
I always put onions in my pinto beans when I cook them. I also put a can of Rotel tomatoes, a ham hock and about 2/3 cup brewed coffee. You don’t taste the coffee, it just makes the beans taste richer. An old gentleman who lived at the lake we went to on the weekend told me about that.
Aw, thank you and yes, we get along really well. Believe or not we work together for about 25 years in the same building about 5 feet apart so if you can do that and still get along, you can do anything!😂❤️
The apple cobbler brought back a flood of memories. I come from a family of eight and Mom on occasion would make apple cobbler for dinner dessert. She'd make something less appetizing (i.e. liver, fried mini sausage) knowing that we would eat it just to be able to indulge in the cobbler. Smart woman! Jenn's chicken looked delish, too. Thanks for an entertaining channel.
Well, that was a smart mom! And yes, the chicken was good and thank you so much for watching our channel. And Rich and I cannot both get in the chair because then who would fish us out?? L O L.
We love Huck Finn's. Frog legs there are good and their Gator Bites are out of this world. Never had alligator until eating there. It's now my go-to every time we visit there.

I'm glad you guys had a better experience than I did with my party the time I went to Huck Finns. We never been there before 1st time visit, we got there before they open on a Thursday in June to have lunch. We was rushed in and rushed out our waitress came back 5 times while we was looking over the menu. I myself I don't eat catfish but the 3 of us ended up getting all you can eat catfish and fried chicken. I only got all you can eat fried chicken, ate the sides Cole slaw, white beans, hush puppies was great. But I was not impressed with their fried chicken. I'd rather had all I could eat KFC fried chicken or Bojangles chicken tastes better than Huck's Finns. My dad and brother had a better experience than I did. If I had to rate my meal I'd give it a 2 or 3. On top of all that the price for all 3 of us was over $130.00 and I was just u satisfied I didn't tip at all. Maybe I just came at a bad time for lunch or an off day. I if I saw shrimp or clam straps on the menu I might of got that instead . But again our waitress was really rushy cane back to our table 5 times in a short amount of time. Glade yall had a better experience.
Honestly the meal looked awesome and I love seafood. Thank you for the video. I only go out to eat at a restaurant once a year when I visit with my brother. The ticket price was my food budget for an entire week so there is no way to afford that. I love to see what places have though 😊
Our family is from North Carolina(my great grandfather was born on Qualla Boundary) and we ALWAYS have onion on the table. Usually we have some kind of cheese. And always something pickled. The pickled items range from Chow chow, to different kinds of pickles, to pickled okra, to pickled peppers. I grew up this way and have continued this with my own family. The Onion gives a kind of relief from eating all the rich fried foods. It's crisp and juicy.... Anytime we have even just fried potatoes... The onion has to be eaten with them. ❤I love eating vicariously through y'all... Lol. Thx for your fun videos👍🏻😊
Really am enjoying your channel! My wife and I LOVE Huck Finn’s and make it a regular stop when we get over that way from WNC…we’re foodies, too! We also really enjoy the Lil’ Black Bear for breakfast. If you haven’t tried it, it is very good! 😋 Keep the reviews coming!
If I'm eating beans, I want cole slaw and a slice of onion I'd put that hush puppie/corn bread in the beans too. Food looked good. Thx for the review, I would have never stopped there before your review
Looks like you both had a really good meal. I have to watch myself at a place like that, since I have to stop myself from eating my weight in hush puppies and then I'm not hungry for the meal! :) Thanks for taking us along and congratulations on 10K subscribers!
Jen seeing you sit in that chair reminds me of Lily Tomlin in her big chair. My mom said she use to eat an onion and a tomato like an apple. lol maybe enough tartar sauce. Just like me. Yummy looking food. That cobbler looked delicious love apple cobbler. Thanks for sharing. Day complete.
Hello, Rich and Jen. I just subscribed to your channel. After I watched Huck Finn's catfish review. Now let me have a little say about wild catfish there are a few different species of catfish. I don't know what kind you tasted, or if it was cleaned. You have to clean catfish the right way. That is one thing; if it was channel cat, that is not the best by far. Yellow cats, also known as flatheads, are the best. The smaller ones taste the best, as with all catfish, & blue Cat is 2nd best. So please don't say no to wild catfish until you tried them all, but start with yellow/flathead. The blue cat. And you would probably change your mind about farm-raised catfish they fed pellet food. Thanks for letting me explain about catfish. I did leave a like for your channel.
Oh, my!!! That's my kinda meal! You've got to have raw onion with the beans. 😋 Hey Jen, I'm a tarter sauce girl, too! Congratulations on the milestone! We're coming up in January and would love to have a meal with you. Take care, ya'll. ❤❤❤
cute place I was liking what I saw till I saw the I saw the black fatty part on the fish we always trim that off to greatly improve the taste of the catfish
Huck Finns is one of the best and definitely a staple in the Pigeon Forge community! Their catfish is the absolute best and if y'all ever go back I 1000% recommend trying the alligator bites which tastes like chicken!
We’ve never eaten there because we’re not seafood lovers, but everything looked delicious! You’re gonna laugh, but the only fish I’ll eat is Long John’s! 🤷♀️🤣 Thanks for another fun video and have a blessed weekend 🙏❤️
I loved your photo in the big chair! Reminds me of Lily Tomlin’s little girl character on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In! lol! Both of your meals looked fantastic! Love me some, hush puppies, clam strips and fried chicken! Btw, you eat raw onions with the beans. Thoroughly enjoyed your video as usual!
Farm raised catfish is very mild compared to wild it is the fish of the South and I prefer farm raised from Arkansas or Mississippi. Pickle and onions is always on a Southern table particularly with fish and I like hush puppies with the beans and coleslaw as "cornbread"
We had a place over here in Franklin tn....Similar. If the fish doesn't have a crunch, or the tea not sweet, it's a flop...lol, Bean, Slaw and hush puppies where a start off to fill you before the fish.
The flavor of catfish depends a lot on the water they live in. Some can have a muddy taste but catfish in clearer lakes tend to have a milder taste. The lake where we used to have our weekend place had some wonderful tasting catfish. They were as good or better than crappie. Thigh is my favorite piece of chicken and that thigh was enormous.
An Appalachian way of eating beans is over cornbread ie hushpuppies and topped with onion. And a side of slaw. The pickle would be a pallet cleanser. Your video made me so hungry. I must try Huck Finns during my next visit!!
I was seriously not kidding when I said you could give me a bowl of clam strips and some tartar sauce and I would be perfectly happy. They are one of my favorite things to eat. Occasionally, I cook them at home but most of the time I get them when we go out. Thanks for watching. We appreciate you very much.
@@jennifermountaingirl At every fish camp I go to that serves clam strips, I always order them. Yes, a bowl of clam strips and cocktail sauce for me, is a meal fit for a king!! Love your channel! Y'all are too cute!
Living in California San Fran we have zero options you dine at so this is amazing to me! We sure have a good smoothie bowl though! My husband from Virginia Beach would gobble this up in two seconds.❤❤❤
In metro Atlanta we “ had “ Rio Vista and we “ HAVE “ Bonner’s. All-you-can-eat fried catfish and hushpuppies. FRESH, FRESH, FRESH. Since Rio Vista is no longer, someone STILL sells their famous salad dressing and I buy it and take the bottle with me to use on my salad when we drive out to Bonner’s. Whole catfish OR fillet………we always order the whole. Limited serving times, quite a drive…….but sooooo worth it.❤️. Today is 8-15-2024.
@@jennifermountaingirl THIS restaurant is only open from 5:00-9:00 PM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. It is in a teeny town of Buckhead. NOT Buckhead in downtown Atlanta. But, Buckhead about 7 miles outside of Madison. A little over an hour from Atlanta. Give my daughter and I some advance notice and we’ll plan to meet y’all there !❤️
I have eaten frog legs before quite a few times and I do like them. I just felt like I should really give the catfish a try! But I might try like a sampler platter next time.
Well, people are saying here on the comments that the onions were for your beans, but I’m still not sure what the pickles were for. We had a very sweet, but young waitress who had absolutely no idea what they were for.😂😂😂
@@jennifermountaingirl I’ll fry them up at home and I can’t stop eating them, I can’t get my step kids to try them, I think I’ll just pretend to have some really small chicken wings, like Cornish hen wings, that might work 😂

Thank you!😊 ❤️
We had a place over here in Franklin tn....Similar. If the fish doesn't have a crunch, or the tea not sweet, it's a flop...lol, Bean, Slaw and hush puppies where a start off to fill you before the fish.
I hope that is a sample @ 5:32. I would have to have 5x that with my meal !
Nice to see the menu at the end.
An Appalachian way of eating beans is over cornbread ie hushpuppies and topped with onion. And a side of slaw. The pickle would be a pallet cleanser. Your video made me so hungry. I must try Huck Finns during my next visit!!
Hmmmm, that makes sense! Thanks for the info! And thanks for joining us!
Congratulations 🎊
Thank you!!😊 ❤️
Looks Delicious! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!!
Clam Strips are my fave!! My grandsons and daughter love them just as much as I do! Yummy!! Great review! ❤️
❤️
You guys are always finding some great looking places to eat. I love raw onions with my meal. I love to scoop my mashed potatoes with them
That sounds like a great idea!!😊
@@jennifermountaingirl any way to get more food in my mouth 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Wow everything looked good! I def am the Tartar Sauce Queen
Me too!!😂
The onion is so mild and sweet you can eat them by themselves.
If you like BBQ, you must go to Ridgewood BBQ in Bluff City, TN. They have a lot of other dishes also but the pork bbq sandwiches are incredible.
I will look that up- thanks for the tip!
Everything looked good. I’m not a huge fan of tartar sauce. Thanks for the great videos and food reviews.
Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for joining us!❤️
Love Huck Finn’s.
Give Chubby’s in Sevierville a try, if you haven’t.
Get the pork sandwich!!!
Been there and had it- amazing- we need go back!
Living in California San Fran we have zero options you dine at so this is amazing to me! We sure have a good smoothie bowl though! My husband from Virginia Beach would gobble this up in two seconds.❤❤❤
It reminded us of a old coastal resturant, glad you enjoyed it

We love going to Huck Finns, The chicken livers are great.
Rich likes chicken livers- I almost thought he was going to order them!
@@jennifermountaingirl Their chicken livers remind me of home.
That’s the exact same menu as Uncle Buds here in Nashville. 🤔
We will have to check it out if we are ever in the area!
Give my daughter and I some advance notice and we’ll plan to meet y’all there !❤️
Love Huck Finns.
No cheese grits? Maybe they don't have them up there. 😅 I'm in south Georgia. We have a superb seafood place here.
I love cheese grits!
Love their Frog Legs.
I have eaten frog legs before quite a few times and I do like them. I just felt like I should really give the catfish a try! But I might try like a sampler platter next time.
Food looks good 👍
We enjoyed it!
Yeah Jen, I don’t get the onion and pickle either.it must be like a thing of theirs. It reminds me of something you’d put on a sandwich, ya know?
Yes, that’s what I thought!
We eat there it is so good love it
I can definitely see why. We would love to take friends there when they come in town for a visit!
I have to know...what were the pickles and onion for? I was baffled when you showed them.
Well, people are saying here on the comments that the onions were for your beans, but I’m still not sure what the pickles were for. We had a very sweet, but young waitress who had absolutely no idea what they were for.😂😂😂
Been watching you since day 1 just wondering since you’ve started what is the best restaurant you guys would rate #1?
Seafood- Chesapeake’s, steak- Cherokee Grill, BBQ- Buddies
Misc-hamburgers etc- Local Goat!
And thanks so much for being an original!!😊❤️
I need to go there! I forgot they have frog legs
The lady beside us was having frog legs and was telling her fellow diners how great they were!
@@jennifermountaingirl I’ll fry them up at home and I can’t stop eating them, I can’t get my step kids to try them, I think I’ll just pretend to have some really small chicken wings, like Cornish hen wings, that might work 😂
L O L it might! It’s funny that when people eat them, they say they taste like chicken!
Try Timberwoods Grill at the Island. I love their burgers and sides.
We have eaten there and I actually love that place. I like to go when it’s slower and then we can walk around the island. Rich hates it because I like to go in all the stores. L O L. We will definitely put that on the list a good reason for me to get to go shopping again.😂😳
@@jennifermountaingirlStores are the best part😂😂😂.
Catfish is usually served in the south with onion and lemon
A lot of folks are saying that I should’ve cut the onions up and put them on the beans!
@@jennifermountaingirl no not here in Where I live in Tn
Enjoy your channel.
