As for the time-honored pinned comment question: What's your favorite fangame/fan project of all time, and why? (Doesn't have to be Danganronpa related, but it can be!)
my least favorite part of the series has always been the first victim never getting much screentime so i really like the prologue involving a mock trial that allows you to see more of everyone
@@99percentOrangeJuice33 I could be wrong, but following Danganronpa logic I think Kai and Eva are going to be our chapter 1 case. I think Eva is going to be the victim and Kai the killer. But I can be wrong. This fan game prides itself on being unorthodox. They have guaranteed that chapter 3 will not have a double murder, and a muscular will not die in chapter 4. Depending on what direction they take, the game could be extremely hard to predict. The only rule we have gotten so far from the prologue is the game will end if there is 1 blackened or 2 spotless.

The pathos mechanic is a mix of white noise and absorbing, but it also seems to have a little bit of the lying mechanic from V3 in there as well. That is, the fact that the pathos is optional and deciding whether or not to use it opens up small branching paths and alternate dialogue. From the way the pathos tutorial is worded however, it seems like they're *always* optional. Most of V3's lies were optional yes, but there were some mandatory lies here and there. I kind of hope that's the case, tbh as much as I loved the idea of an Ultimate Debater character using emotional arguments to progress the trial over logical ones at times *in theory*, in practice I've never been a huge fan of the Flashback Bullets mechanic in practice & I found the mechanic kind of clunky to use during the demo personally

This fangame looks really promising, but it’s also beautiful and inspiring to hear the creators talk about their influences or goals or pride in their work. Artists the lot of them!
I've never really played any fangames at all. None of the ones I saw really interested me. They would get me into the series they were a fan project of and the main titles instead of the fan work. But after seeing what Eden's Garden has to offer, I'm really excited to play it for myself soon, it's really promising!
I have to agree with the non stop debates killing the frame rate. The only other area that was even close to that bad was the open garden but that was still fine. The nonstop debates were so hard because I had to replay over and over just to hit the weak spots, missing 95% of my shots.
Glad someone else had an issue with having to walk so close to things to interact with them. I thought I was going insane for a moment, remembering how close you needed to be in the official games. But otherwise, I am floored by how incredible this project is! It really avoids the pitfalls of many fan projects I've played and even the mainline games. Most importantly for me, the game seems to have a very clear idea of what it wants to accomplish thematically already, one of my largest worries with any visual novel. Plus, I'm not sure if I've really seen anything else that feels like it has such a well rounded cast of characters that can actually intertwine in interesting ways! Everything is so incredibly filled with potential that my only worries with this game are silly theoreticals with how they might be squandered, which makes me all the more happy to hear how there's a fairly extensive writing team for this project.
Before I played through the prologue, I thought Eva would definitely be an early death. Now I'm having second thoughts about that, but maybe it's just bias speaking (she's one of my favs, alongside Damon and Ulysses).
Considering how the game is called Eden's Garden and her name is one letter off from Eve while Damon's got that Snake Motif going on and his name is one letter off from Demon, I do doubt they're going to kill her off so soon, especially when the Prologue seemingly implies a conflict with Damon and Eva against everyone else
@@cblazerc I said I doubt they're gonna kill Eva off so soon, not the other way around I think it would also be a waste to kill her first because Class Trials would definitely be more interesting if she's alive, especially if she's one of the suspects
I would like a mouse sensitivity setting for the exploration sections but the game is honestly incredible so far. Its far and beyond above what I would expect from a fan game. They've gone all out to really make this feel like a Danganronpa. Also I'll say, without going into specific details. Ive noticed things that feel very off in the story that intrigue me and I've already got a theory about it.
I just heard about the drop of the game and got really happy of it. Then later in the day today I watched some random vtuber on twitch play the game, and it turns out he voiced one of the characters. I think it was the ultimate marksmen? I need to check again. So that was a nice to see along with this video! So glad you covered it!
"we dont want a on the meat bone incident" me thinking about how in their own prologue trial i knew what they wanted me to say but not how to get there and my connections made sense to me but were wrong and then i eventually gave up and went through the whole list idk if im alone in that though. the trial's logic wasnt hard (it was extremely simple really) but i didnt know how they wanted me to convey the info right lol
Something i love about the mangaronpa section is that it's not only Damon explaining, but also the others. It is that little something that adds more to that sentiment of an united group that will unfortunately get separated with a grim reaper called Death. Cannot play it because my PC is ass, but i did watch the entire prologue and it was very interesting. I know he may not last that long but PLEAAAAAASEEEEEEE let Jett (the ultimate drag racer) live, i love that dog helmet boi.
Just played the Prologue for myself, and I really quite love it! ^^ No spoilers, but the characters are all delightfully entertaining in their own ways, and the technical side of things did well in preserving that DR gameplay feel. This was a joy to listen to, thanks to everyone involved in making it. :)
I'm actually really fascinated to see the writers' inspirations in this project, some of these definitely got me both intrigued and excited for what's to come. Definitely interesting to see just what inspires people and how they carry that work with them
Nezumi, I am begging you to look into Your Turn to Die and Zero Escape!!!!! I think you would like them based on your Danganronpa videos, and they are soooo good and have so much to talk about!! The whole part where you are talking about how "wait, i genuinely don't know whats going to happen" is something that I felt strongly when playing these games. They have the added bonus of being a bit less systematic than Danganronpa (especially Zero Escape) and you feel like, scared for the characters throughout. Like "holy shit, wait, are these people gonna die? What the heck is going on??" And while YTTD isnt finished yet, its had some great twists!! Zero Escape is also very interesting because it has some of the wackiest twists, some of which are SO FANTASTIC ...and others which kinda miss (especially in the third game). I think my experience playing those games was similar to how I felt with Danganronpa, just... better lol Edit: And yeah, i forgot to mention, this comment was inspired by the people mentioning these two games as influences btw
I'm always impressed with these kinds of fan games due to the sheer amount of detail and quality they are for not being a paid product. And one thing that made me love the Danganronpa series is the music. And I was impressed with the music in Eden's Garden which made me happy. It's just a little bittersweet that it releases in episodes because the wait for the next part is always going to be rough because I want more! lol
6:58 I had the same issue actually, I didn’t record but the text was going much slower at times even though I had the text speed up. It’s mostly likely my computer though, it’s probably just having a little trouble running the game.
I just know that Diana Venicia is gonna be the culprit at some point, her being the Ultimate Cosmetologist just gives off a perfect murder plan I just know it. ( Jett will probably die lol )
This fangame is amazing so far! I'm really looking forward to the full release. I love all the characters so far, for real. Everyday I thank the heavens for Kai Monteago, because I LOVE a pathetic memow pretty boy.
Ive spent the entire gameplay segment being genuinely impressed by the presentation. The art and UI and environments look so damn good, and I love the multi-character cutscenes existing in real space, even outside of the trials. Shoutouts to the character designs, they all look so good (except the gamer's spiderweb pants IMO)
OMG I love that they mentioned Your turn to die!!! It's my favourite game and I definitely recommend it to anyone who also enjoys Danganronpa, it's such a good game with amazing characters and plot!!
One thing I noticed when watching bijuu mikes play through, he tried to remove the text to see the cgs but couldn’t, it would be a great feature to add this so we can admire the beautiful art!
Possible Spoilers: I think Cara survived her “death” and is Mara (I mean they basically have the same name…) also I think Tozu is the culprit of the prologue case
I haven't quite finished the video, but I had a thought cross my mind while I was binge watching Nezumi's coverage of Danganronpa that I'd like to share as a potentially great Trial 3. Spoilers below for the danganronpa games, so proceed with caution. We really haven't had a good 3rd trial in any of these games but if the third trial *has* to be a double murder I would love if they explored an idea that combines aspects of Celeste/Hifumi's murders in the first game, and mix in some of the murder rules from V3. My idea would go a little something like this. Build up two characters in a budding relationship then have them each go for their own respective murder with the support from the other. The thing about a double murder trial is that you can get away with revealing the killers pretty early on because the trial participants will still need to figure out who committed which murder and picking wrong would still be a fail state. This way you could easily have the two intentionally confess false information to try and lead the investigation in the wrong direction. ...this would be where things could start getting spicy. We can absolutely use Nezumi's idea from V3 Trial 3 to make it so only one of these killers will be punished, and the other essentially getting off Scott free but still stuck in the murder school. With investigators figuring out which crime was committed by which, the case would come down to who killed who first in order to figure out who would be punished and...well, have the two murderers turn on eachother, volunteering facts that hadn't been shared before as well as straight up lies to throw the other under the bus with the added anxiety that one of these proven killers will be getting off scott free with their crime and will be living amongst you for the remainder of the killing game. I feel like this would be fairly solid in terms of gameplay and the tone of absolute despair that these cases seem to bring out in people and changing around the formula of how these trials play out by revealing the killers early would be pretty *chef's kiss* Let me know what you think about this and if there could be any tweak/details that could be changed.
6:22 there was a LP of DR2 where I saw players trying to get to Hotel or somewhere near that but somehow they interacted with Peko's cottage (I think they were Disillusioned plays (?)
Kai, Eloise, Desmond, and Wolfgang are definitely my favorite characters. Also Jean is really hot but knowing I will probably have limited time to spend time with him hurts.
Brooooo! I am so excited for this fan-game! I low-key am in love with all the characters, they all are so fun and a breath of fresh air. I am also looking forward into learning more about the mastermind and his lackeys. Overall, Project: Eden's Garden seems that is going to be an amazing game!!
The art in this is really good!! My only complaint is that the cast’s faces aren’t diverse enough. They all kind of share similar expressions, and the eye and nose shapes are a bit samey.
@@dawnchorus8556 nah dude. Sakura, chihiro, hifumi, Mondo, hiyotaka, Leon, and junko all have completely different vibes and shapes to their faces. There’s sharp eyes, round eyes, big eyebrows, small eyebrows, etc. some characters are even shaded with more or less detail depending on how intense their character is, like Sakura. You get a very distinct vibe from each of their idle stances, too. This isn’t to say that Eden’s Garden doesn’t have any of this- I just think it could benefit from making them even more varied.
Hey! You could talk about other fangames too if you want! :3 I'm not pushing if I don't want to, I just think that danganronpa fangames (be it video series, games or instaronpa) deserve more recognition!
I absoloutely agree with the truth bullet feedback, I found it hard to tell whether I had gotten the answer right or not 🤪 other than that and some smaller issues which are mostly subjective I thought it was an incredibly well made project and I’m very excited to see the future of the fame
I think I would’ve preferred one or two less relevant talents. You have pro gamer and influencer, and then debater and lawyer, and then entrepreneur and music producer. I would’ve had the one relevant talent and then mix it up a bit for the complimentary one. 1. Lawyer: Auctioneer, Mediator, Spokesman, Yes Man 2. Influencer: Philanthropist, Journalist (maybe like a crazy tabloid guy), Daredevil (like meme challenges) 3. Music Producer (which is fine by itself, but the other tech-savvy talents make it less interesting): Dance Instructor, Beatboxer, Jazzercise Specialist, Disco Dancer
I've been wondering... In one of your DR videos (I can't remember which one, I think it's either DR1 or DR2) you made a passing comment about Kingdom Hearts, and I can't help but wonder if you're ever planning to do a retrospective series on that like you did for DR? Obviously not months and months on end for the whole series, because it's like 15 full-length games and that would take WAY too long, but maybe in-between other projects? Just wondering, because Kingdom Hearts and DR are my two favorite video game series of all time.
14:03 Given that this is a fan game, there's a high chance that the number of stab wounds is a reference to a certain game scene with a certain robot...
While the references (I have noticed so far) are well placed, I really hope they decrease as the story goes on. When it comes to fan games, I always see references overused, resulting in poor overall writing quality.
This might be a personal bias, since he gives me such Wilbur Soot vibes, but I have a very strong feeling that Mark is going to be a crazy killer. Chapter 3 blackened potentially? He seems very quiet, so I feel like him going off the rails is very possible. Then again, that might be too easy, so they might also try to take that concept that seems expected and switch it.
now that you mention it though, i can see Mark somewhat loosing it at a later chapter, probably after Jett dies because they seem like they're gonna have a wholesome and heart wrenching relationship
That, and his animal symbol is an allegator/crocodile (creatures best known as "silent killers" that slowly drag down and suffocate their prey). Theist common theory is that there's going to be a gut wrenching betrayal between him and Jett.
Everything about it is really good and I'm really looking forward to the full thing. I think the only gripe I have about it is the delivery of the voice actors, some of the female cast and most of the male cast, needs some improvement. An offhand comment from me when I first heard it is "That's a really strong lisp."
Wolfgang is really giving me Tsurugi Kinjo vibes (as in from Danganronpa Another) if he was less of an arsehole. I have a feeling Damon might butt heads with him for similar reasons to the conflicts Kinjo caused in DRA

it sounds like the game will be free, and they arent acception any donations, which is even more impressive to me. im sure a game this polished can't be cheap to produce, and i really admire them sticking to their values.
im eagerly awaiting the full game and im cheering everyone working on the project on!! thank you guys for taking the time and effort to show love towards the original games and the fanbase ❤
Just when we thought it was all over, this beauty of a game is about to give us (maybe) 6 more reviews in the future!

If Jett dies, I'm going to freaking cry. Please protect him! He is the goodest boi!
Sozzay is very well spoken. It's easy to see how they're the lead writer for the game.
Yes, playing the prologue i thought jett sounded like scooby doo. Definitely intentional since his helmet is dog related.
Thank you. Because I always thought it was weird to get there underwear after completing a character's free time event
I didn’t think you’d be covering this, but I’m glad. This new game is gonna be awesome!
@@jaydenlobbe7911 but they said they won't do the tropes, and Eva dying first would be following one of the tropes.
@@cblazerc I said I doubt they're gonna kill Eva off so soon, not the other way around
I think it would also be a waste to kill her first because Class Trials would definitely be more interesting if she's alive, especially if she's one of the suspects
Would be intrigued to hear the theory:)
I have a crush on Kai. Don't judge me guys, he's so cute, funny, dramatic, handsome
I like that they all have some sort of animal motif going on with them.
I just heard about the drop of the game and got really happy of it. Then later in the day today I watched some random vtuber on twitch play the game, and it turns out he voiced one of the characters. I think it was the ultimate marksmen? I need to check again. So that was a nice to see along with this video! So glad you covered it!
"we dont want a on the meat bone incident"
me thinking about how in their own prologue trial i knew what they wanted me to say but not how to get there and my connections made sense to me but were wrong
and then i eventually gave up and went through the whole list
idk if im alone in that though. the trial's logic wasnt hard (it was extremely simple really) but i didnt know how they wanted me to convey the info right lol
You mean fanganronpa not mangaronpa
Wait, now that i read it carefully, i put it right, i was talking about the manga section that comes with climax reenactment at the end of the case xd
One sonic video and then back to Danganronpa. Funny how life works sometimes
Lol, blame the generosity of the devs! We'll be back out of DR zone again right after.
Just played the Prologue for myself, and I really quite love it! ^^ No spoilers, but the characters are all delightfully entertaining in their own ways, and the technical side of things did well in preserving that DR gameplay feel. This was a joy to listen to, thanks to everyone involved in making it. :)
Damon is the Master Debater
I'm actually really fascinated to see the writers' inspirations in this project, some of these definitely got me both intrigued and excited for what's to come. Definitely interesting to see just what inspires people and how they carry that work with them
I think the idea of a quiet, introverted music producer nicknamed "Mayhem" is actually pretty believable, and I kinda relate to him.
Time for no English translation errors XD.
A refreshing thing to be able to avoid, lol.
I think my experience playing those games was similar to how I felt with Danganronpa, just... better lol
Edit: And yeah, i forgot to mention, this comment was inspired by the people mentioning these two games as influences btw
I'm always impressed with these kinds of fan games due to the sheer amount of detail and quality they are for not being a paid product.
And one thing that made me love the Danganronpa series is the music. And I was impressed with the music in Eden's Garden which made me happy. It's just a little bittersweet that it releases in episodes because the wait for the next part is always going to be rough because I want more! lol
Not gonna lie, I spent most of my playthrough completely forgetting this was a fangame.
The premiere was amazing as always!
Jett is my absolutely favorite himbo I love him
The prologue was great, immediately grabbed my interest and now I'm hyped.
Possible Spoilers:
I think Cara survived her “death” and is Mara (I mean they basically have the same name…) also I think Tozu is the culprit of the prologue case
I feel like Mara and Cara are twins and Mara just dyed her hair
41:00 YESSSSS Jett is my favorite of the cast so far!
Lmao I see you, chickening out of trying to pronounce the very Finnish last name of Cara Koskinen
I'll be honest, I would have said it! But while I was writing I forgot what it was LOL.
Omg I’m so excited 😭✨
I love this fangame, but Super Danganronpa Another 2 will forever be my favorite.
Love this game so far!
I feel like this would be fairly solid in terms of gameplay and the tone of absolute despair that these cases seem to bring out in people and changing around the formula of how these trials play out by revealing the killers early would be pretty *chef's kiss*
Let me know what you think about this and if there could be any tweak/details that could be changed.
16:21 THIS IS TOTALLY A DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN REFERENCE AND YOU CAN'T TELL ME OTHERWISE
Spike Chunsoft should totally get behind this.
28 stab wounds you say.
12:45 that highschool emblem is STRIKINGLY similar to the hope's peak emblem. Probably just a neat little reference.
29:40 THE SCREAM I LET OUT YTTD MENTION!? LET’S GO!!!
The art in this is really good!! My only complaint is that the cast’s faces aren’t diverse enough. They all kind of share similar expressions, and the eye and nose shapes are a bit samey.
so is everyone in the og danganronpa
@@dawnchorus8556 nah dude. Sakura, chihiro, hifumi, Mondo, hiyotaka, Leon, and junko all have completely different vibes and shapes to their faces. There’s sharp eyes, round eyes, big eyebrows, small eyebrows, etc. some characters are even shaded with more or less detail depending on how intense their character is, like Sakura. You get a very distinct vibe from each of their idle stances, too.
This isn’t to say that Eden’s Garden doesn’t have any of this- I just think it could benefit from making them even more varied.
@@robertwyatt3912 perhaps u right my man
EDENS GARDEN WOOHOO!!!
One more day.
Looooved edans garden! Can’t wait for chapter 1
I can relate so much to trying to solve the mystery while writing it XD
this legit feels like danganronpa 4, its even better than v3 so far imo
wolfgang akire my beloved
Hey! You could talk about other fangames too if you want! :3
I'm not pushing if I don't want to, I just think that danganronpa fangames (be it video series, games or instaronpa) deserve more recognition!
OOOOO LETS GOOO ANOTHER VIDEOOOOO
The Ultimate Video Essayist is covering Eden's Garden? Nice
BRUUUUUH I CANT WAIT
I absoloutely agree with the truth bullet feedback, I found it hard to tell whether I had gotten the answer right or not 🤪 other than that and some smaller issues which are mostly subjective I thought it was an incredibly well made project and I’m very excited to see the future of the fame
Wenona probably read Atlas Shrugged and agreed with everything in it.
I CAN'T WAAAAIT
I think I would’ve preferred one or two less relevant talents. You have pro gamer and influencer, and then debater and lawyer, and then entrepreneur and music producer.
I would’ve had the one relevant talent and then mix it up a bit for the complimentary one.
1. Lawyer: Auctioneer, Mediator, Spokesman, Yes Man
2. Influencer: Philanthropist, Journalist (maybe like a crazy tabloid guy), Daredevil (like meme challenges)
3. Music Producer (which is fine by itself, but the other tech-savvy talents make it less interesting): Dance Instructor, Beatboxer, Jazzercise Specialist, Disco Dancer
Aww I wished I can test em out
16:20 waaait… OMG THATS A DETROIT BECOME HUMAN REFERENCE!!! 28 Stab wounds is an Iconic catch phrase, Eden devs be cultured FR-
I am so so hyped for this video
So Casey Amber is just a better less annoying Futaba?
Thank god I need more of those
I've been wondering...
Maybe someday! Definitely wouldn’t rule it out.
✨✨✨✨✨✨
14:03 Given that this is a fan game, there's a high chance that the number of stab wounds is a reference to a certain game scene with a certain robot...
While the references (I have noticed so far) are well placed, I really hope they decrease as the story goes on. When it comes to fan games, I always see references overused, resulting in poor overall writing quality.

JEAN
*JEAN*
UA-cam "translated" this to jeans
Is the 28 stab wounds thing a detroit become human reference? Idk i just saw a clip where the guy said that
This might be a personal bias, since he gives me such Wilbur Soot vibes, but I have a very strong feeling that Mark is going to be a crazy killer. Chapter 3 blackened potentially? He seems very quiet, so I feel like him going off the rails is very possible. Then again, that might be too easy, so they might also try to take that concept that seems expected and switch it.
ngl when you said Wilbur Soot vibes my brain immediately went to Ulysses lmao
now that you mention it though, i can see Mark somewhat loosing it at a later chapter, probably after Jett dies because they seem like they're gonna have a wholesome and heart wrenching relationship
That, and his animal symbol is an allegator/crocodile (creatures best known as "silent killers" that slowly drag down and suffocate their prey). Theist common theory is that there's going to be a gut wrenching betrayal between him and Jett.
16:20 Is that a fucking Detroit: Become Human reference?!
Everything about it is really good and I'm really looking forward to the full thing. I think the only gripe I have about it is the delivery of the voice actors, some of the female cast and most of the male cast, needs some improvement. An offhand comment from me when I first heard it is "That's a really strong lisp."
Wolfgang looks like Connor in Detroit Become Human.
You should have held out and made this video 7 seconds longer
Wolfgang is really giving me Tsurugi Kinjo vibes (as in from Danganronpa Another) if he was less of an arsehole. I have a feeling Damon might butt heads with him for similar reasons to the conflicts Kinjo caused in DRA
