    With the exception of Rick Shiels Break 75, which will always be a go to, I agree UA-cam golf has gotten stale. I will say, I’m finding myself skipping to the end or passing on the video altogether way more often than I used to.

    It's time for UA-cam to get a professional promoter to set up the UA-cam Classic. No sponsorship from any channel, so no bias for content. 4 day event, content creators could shoot their own golfer(s) (posting held to day after the event posts). Invites to only the top 16-20 channels (air time for everyone)?
    Possibly have Ryder Cup-style play. That would showcase pairings as well as individual play.

    • @BirdieFever
      @BirdieFever Місяць тому +1

      We’re building our channel to do something like this but bigger. Today we’re at 400 followers after 4 months on Instagram, and seemingly no place near being able to do what I’ve imagined, but I’ve been here before in business and succeeded.
      In our idea, it would not be an invitational…like what Good Good calls their “Opens”. It would be an ACTUAL Open, where there will be rules to qualify. We would have rules about Instagram and UA-cam followings, as well as certain golf skill related requirements to register. There would be multiple events throughout the year and would be the premiere events of the UA-cam space that everyone would want to be a part of, and win.
      The reality is, that Kendrick and Good Good could do this RIGHT NOW, but they instead do what they’re doing by making invitationals and calling them “Opens”, while excluding some of the largest channels in space by way of weak airtime or purse. Rome wasn’t built in a day and maybe Matt will figure it out. In any case, we’re going to keep working toward the best competitive space for UA-cam golf through our channel and if nobody takes the reigns and makes a UA-cam tour with fair rules and qualifications, plus shots for smaller channels to be included, WE WILL!

      Totally read my mind. If you're struggling to see why these big UA-camrs aren't turning up to these events, it's exactly that. It's far too biased in good goods favour. I appreciate good good efforts but if they're getting 80% of the exposure, other creators will feel short changed.
      A UA-cam Golf Championship, yes I can very much get down with that.

    • @BirdieFever
      @BirdieFever Місяць тому +3

      They’ve been…and they don’t seem to be listening. The first step though is the others on their level declining their invites. This will force them to understand that while it’s cool to reach across and upward for a collab, it’s a necessity to reach down and pull others up. That’s how you grow the whole space, and therefore your brand. They went big time sell out route with little sustainability plan and they’re feeling that now, or about to feel it soon. They need to put money, time, and effort into growing the whole UA-cam golf space, to grow their stake. They’re capped out currently, so they should either try to sell it for whatever they can get, or be the leader in the space to grow it from beneath them.

      @@sophistos Peter Finch was also testing something with his local PGA chapter but I never saw the outcome. It wasn’t exactly what I’m proposing, but it’s a start. I know that someone will do it before we get there, but I’m not going to stop driving towards it to keep the pressure on its importance. Make the top level competition series with 6-8 events scheduled. Setup a points system for a 👑 crowned champion, setup requirements for entry with a decent sized following like 20,000 subscribers, PLUS a registered 10 or better handicap, and must be actively posting a minimum of 15 pieces of golf related content in the past 30 days. If the response is too great, then you host a few regional qualifiers to see who gets in.
      After the series is over for the year and an annual points champ is crowned, you run a Ryder cup style finale. I’m surprised nobody has an East/West Ryder style event yet as well. These are things on our map, we just have to get the followers.

      Exactly! We’ve been screaming this from the mountain tops. They’re trying to grow their audience and that’s fine and all. Our problem is, it’s not an “OPEN”, you can’t qualify for it by winning something, or by any other means besides having a giant audience inside or outside of golf. The reality is, UA-cam golf needs a tour, that has camera coverage. 6-8 events per year, a points winner, and a Ryder cup season finale. We just started at the beginning of this year, but If we get big enough we’ll create this.

      @@WelcomeToTheRough The best way to grow is to reach downward and pull some people up to ride with you. So far GG has more or less been allergic to that it seems, and only reaches across or up. It’s a selfish way of growing and will eventually burn them out. At least they invited JNA Golf, Blake from Dialed Golf, and Malosi. That gives me hope they may be catching on. They really need to change the name of these tournaments to invitationals instead of opens if they’re not going to let anyone qualify into them. There is so much more they could be doing to grow this thing and they’re just oblivious. Like I said in the comment above, we aim to be part of the 2.0 of the UA-cam/Insta golf space, and will reach down as soon as we’re above the ground level.

      @BirdieFever Місяць тому

      @@WelcomeToTheRough You hit it all on the head. I don’t think they can hide it much longer. Everyone is getting that vibe. The more they become dependent on these huge deals, the worse it will ultimately get for the fans, unless they change course now, which isn’t likely as the road to least resistance so they think is to keep chasing enormous deals and lateral and upward collabs. I think it will be too late before they figure out they need to grow the space from down lower, and create a competitive arena for the space, and own it! Kendrick could LITERALLY be the Dana White of the UA-cam golf space and create a REVOLUTION of new gold creators, but he either isn’t that wise or ambitious…not sure which one. I know it seems far fetched, but I’m going to keep working towards this. Today we just hit 400 followers on Instagram after 4 months of posting content. We’re in no position currently to do what I’ve suggested above, but we’re going to keep working, and if nobody takes the reigns and does this by the time we get big enough, I promise you we’ll get it done.

I loved watching the youtube championships with Grant, bryon bros, Mikah, Busta jack. I also would like to see a ryder cup style youtube tournament. Also I like to see the content creators play fans. And give them options for prizes they could win if the fans bears them. They could give away a whole golf set is the fans beat them straight up. I didn’t see any hate here. Really it’s more disappointment that the biggest entity in space isn’t doing more for the sustainability of the space, while at the same time building their brand, instead of just the latter. If Kendrick continues on this course with GG, it will surely burn out. I’m particularly grateful to Kendrick and all Good Good members, past and present, for paving the way for others, but just don’t agree with what they’re currently doing with their own health, and the health of the space itself. There’s a better way, and it will likely lead to more profits in the future, but not today, and requires investment in the space, not into the brand directly to see short term ROI. Everything about Good Good screams that it wants ROI and is desperate for it. Not hating, it’s just a vibe, and we’re doing things daily to work towards a brighter future of UA-cam golf, in case nobody else is.

Nobody expects this firstly, I’m just saying that it’s a mistake in my opinion and a path to burnout of their enterprise which is their choice. They are basically capped, and I see what they’re trying to do by inviting people from other spaces, but that isn’t going to move the needle they’ll soon find out, as it just turns off many of the core followers. My suggestion of building the space, with inclusion of fostering competition below them, is a long game move for more future profit, and I’m NOT asking they do it for free. The longer their reluctance to do it, the higher their chances of burnout, and a competitor to do it in their place. It’s a bad business move when they’re on top of the space clearly at this time. They might be better off selling GG, or employ someone in the C Level who can take them further.

      I wasn’t saying they should do this for free. It’s a business move of investment into the space, so that they themselves can grow later. You have to be visionary to see the move, but it’s basically the next step in the evolution of the business model. The current track they’re on by trying to get other spaces to try and like golf content is actually harder and weakening their brand, as well as the space, but it’s more profitable short term for them, so that’s why they’re doing it, rather than building the space beneath them, which will cost them tons of cash, for a maybe of big ROI at a later time.
