SIBS Project: Barkarbystaden KV15

In Järfälla, north of Stockholm, Barkarbystaden, SIBS developed one of Sweden’s largest and most exciting urban development projects. A new mixed-use city was built and developed with housing, workplaces and facilities for education, hotels, commerce, services, sports and culture.
Barkarbystaden is the future public transport hub of north-west Stockholm, with a metro, bus station, commuter train and regional train station.
Here, SIBS completed a city concept with 350 apartments, communal areas, restaurants, small shops, and a preschool in a pleasant mix with experiential architecture and greenery. The public spaces have also been designed to make the streets more lively and enticing.
One of Sweden's most exciting urban development project yet, the block features a high environmental profile with low energy consumption.
