don't mind me, just trying to learn Premiere pro. I needed something short and easily put together in my mind to be able to learn the baby steps in the program since this is my very first attempt at editing in it, like ever. and lemme tell you, it's sweat and blood and suffering, and at the end of the day very very rewarding. but yeah forgive the messy effects and all.
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this show which surprised me the most given that it's a kid's cartoon. stuff like abandonment issues and domestic emotional abuse are core issues, like???? hello, thank you?? also the art style is very pretty
then again I'm kinda bitter how easily Adora basically gave up on Catra and thus she became the main villain of the season's end... my only hope is that they are planning something bigger with her/them in s2.. a girl can only hope

Great video! I agree. Adora switched sides and left Catra a little too easily. Makes me feel bad for Catra and I can understand why she's so bitter. Especially since Catra was the one being abused and mistreated by the horde while Adora was adored. Still, I love them and I can't wait to see where they go from here.
Exactly my thoughts! Tho I'd argue that Adora got her fair share of abuse from Shadow weaver, just a different kind. Cause if they broke the rules Catra was being punished, and Adora was told it was her responsibility. So in a way it was her fault that her friend got hurt. Idk, it sucks in any case. I think Adora is still in her kind of "protective bubble of innocent ignorance" that she got in the Fright zone back then. She's still unable to see what Catra means really when she's pushing her away.
Ugh.

@@SnowFalls3 I never thought of it like that. Also, the fact that at the beginning before Adora left Catra repeated Adora's promise from when they were children back to her. I never realized that before.
@@tamerafarly7666 oh yeah! I loved that the show was so well written/structured at times! Like, it's actually rewarding to go back and rewatch the first couple of episodes after you finish the season, knowing their past. That extra knowledge gives an extra layer of angst to it :D It's like foreshadowing, but also not giving anything away at the start. Very clever indeed :)
And about their childhood, it's interesting to think about the flashback in episode 11. They both lived it, both were there with the runestone and Shadow weaver, but got such different experiences out of it. Catra realized what Shadow weaver was doing to them and learned to live with it, learned to accept that she would be second place and treated worthless always; while Adora only grasped the part Shadow weaver wanted her to see - taking care and responsibly of Catra and her/their actions. I think that's part of the reason why she wanted to be force captain and a leader, because she was raised to feel responsible all the time. This is partially why I can forgive her for switching sides so fast: when she got yet another huge responsibility thrust upon her and she did what she could to cope with it- she accepted it without questions and tried her best to succeed, like she was trained to do by Shadow weaver. Their tragedy is how their upbringing is affecting their actions now that they are "free of Shadow weaver" like Adora tells Catra. She told Catra she could leave, but in reality none of them can escape their past and Adora doesn't see that. Their nature vs nurture is why they ended up on opposite sides.

*cries from feels* I love these two, altho I am upset that they didn’t show more of a struggle on Adora’s end for leaving Catra. But this edit is really amazing!! I didn’t even know this was your first time using a new program until I read the DB!

Aww i kinda wished that catra joined adora or the other way around but then we wouldn't really have a show. Part of me still hopes though
Yeah, same, want a resolution but then it'd probably end :D all we can hope for is more angst and an eventual happy ending (oh go d pleaa s e)
