Hello! I have not had any issues with the heat. The bricks are more then enough.

Dear Bjorn, I'm going to do the same to my IKEA table as well since your project is cool indeed. I only have one concern: are those 4 screws in the shelf really enough to hold the weight of a Kamado Joe JR? We're talking about 40kgs and I'm kind of scared since my Kamado is still mint in the box (not yet delivered actually!). How long are the screews you used? Do you recommend to reinforce the shelf even more by using some shelf holders? Thanks for your enlightning project and take care!
Mine still holds very well after 4 yrs. I used 70mm long screws. I’ve been thinking i should make some kind if reinforcement. If you have any doubts you should reinforce.
@@kamadobjorn Again thanks for your hints. The kamado is koming tomorrow and I have another concern about the edge trim. Which material is yours? Is it holding good or risking to melt? I only managed to find one made by PVC which is granted up to 70° celsius. I believe that the kamado gets hotter outside, expecially when self cleaning by Pyrolysis. What can you suggest? I use pvc edge trim. I don’t think mine i higher rated. It’s not getting as hot on the outside so it will melt.

How did you cut the stainless? What did you use?
I used a jigsaw with a blade for stainless steel. Worked great.

The PVC trim doesn't melt from the heat?
It doesn’t get that hot.
Hey Bjorn, does the kind of PVC edge trim matter here? Did you have to find something with a heat resistance rating? I'm planning to build this table to for my new Joe Jr, but I'm wondering about the heat coming from the exterior of the grill.
You don’t need the edge trim, it’s. Just for the look. Mine is about 4yrs old so i don’t think You need to worry about the heat.
