C-17 Globemaster III Tactical Landing

This is a video of a C-17 Globemaster III doing a tactical landing, where they try to descend, land, and stop in the shortest time and distance possible. It starts by applying reverse thrust while in the air causing a descent rate of ~6000 ft/min and then applying reverse thrust on the ground to rapidly stop and can begin backing up. This allows them to and stop in a couple thousand feet (I believe that's correct (perhaps less)), while loaded. They can then turn 180 degrees by themselves in the width of the runway (without doing a multi-point turn). While fighters are often seen as being the coolest planes, this was pretty stinkin' neat.

No you're basically right, use that HUD and set power wherever you want and fly with the flight path vector..I'm flying it in X-plane bug I can guarantee it's not that much more difficult in real life!
