      hes amazing and explosive but that can also bite him back and cause a major injury with his shoulders if he throws too hard, or he could cause damage to someone else with how explosive and (slightly) uncontrollable he seems right now. Its a huge risk to start him too many times because it could definitly backfire.

    I want to be clear, I’m not complaining, BUT, imagine what Judge’s numbers would be if he had a Freddy Freeman type protecting him in the lineup. Judge leads MLB in walks, and even though Verdugo has done a good job, they STILL walk Judge to get to Verdugo. I’m not hating on Ohtani, he’s great, but you gotta admit FF hitting behind him is the ultimate protection, just saying, not to mention Judge STILL gets more balls called strikes on him than anyone in MLB, you can look it up! It’s F’n amazing Judge puts up the numbers he does!

It’s not like they are playing with different rules. It’s often harder to bring players into New York cause of taxes and just the pressure of playing there period. Cabrera has simply been a better hitter than Gleyber and come the trade deadline, it’s likely we’ll see Gleyber dealt to reinforce the bullpen with another solid arm or two. When the Martian comes back, Jones gets sent down, Grish gets traded. Yankees are poised to have one of the best outfields (it’s already good) in the past 30 years: Judge, Soto, Verdugo, Dominguez, with Cabrera serving at utility/5th outfielder when needed.

    But they’re not gonna be able to beat out the Orioles… so it doesn’t matter… we will end up in first beating up on the AL east… 😐

    How can the Yankees possibly afford to sign Soto unless they plan on exceeding a payroll of over $300 million for the next 4 or 5 seasons? lol

      By doing a deferred money contract like Othani

    • @quellenathanar
      @quellenathanar 8 місяців тому +1

      There are quite a lot of contracts coming off the books, with young players waiting for their opportunity. It could fail if those chips turn out to be duds. With Soto (hopefully) and Judge looming as monsters anchoring the lineup, they should still be quite potent as the youth grows into their potential. The emergence of Gil as a dominant starter under financial control for several years is an absolute boon (not Aaron Boone)
      Personally, I think Hal is full of crap when he speaks about payroll sustainability. The Yankees pull in over 700M annually, and with Soto in the mix, his brand is maximized by being married to the Yankees brand. The evaluation of the team's market value will swell even more if the Yanks win a World Series. The Yankees vs Dodgers Collision in the Championship would be epic for MLB. Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Judge, Soto, and Cole are all tracking as HOF players. All of that star power being showcased in the NY-LA-Tokyo markets has the potential to supercharge MLB as it tries to expand to the global market, the Yankees and Dodgers will lead the way.
      One of the great things about baseball is built-in parity. Not artificial parity like the other major sports in the US with their salary cap system. In baseball, the top-end teams lose 40% of their games. Great hitters fail to reach base 60% of the time. Last season we Had an Arizona vs Rangers WS. Medium and even small market teams can and do have a chance to win.

      Money coming off the books, young and low salary players ready to take over at some positions.
      It really isn't difficult at all unless you're assuming Soto gets way more than 50 a year.

    Who will go to the BP when Cole comes back ? Weak link overall has been Nestor. But i dont see him coming out of the BP. He gives up runs early. Do we go to a 6 man rotation ? I doubt it. So where does that put Nestor ? Is he a trade piece ? Will he finish the season a Yankee ? These are some of the things ive been reading other folks discussing and im curious what other folks thoughts are on this. I love Nestor and hope he doesnt get traded, but sadly i could see the possibility of that happening. :-(

      They got wrecked by injury. 4/5 of the rotation and over half the lineup was on the IL.
      Why haters gloat over stuff like that is beyond me. But then, I'm not a pathetic loser.
