I just stepped inside from my fragrant rainy garden today and thought, What was that word?? A few hours later watching this, I anticipated he'd say that. Thanks. Now I know.
Glad that I wasn't the only one who caught that. That needs to be Stephen's first question on Jude Law's next appearance as soon as he sits down. No warning or preamble.
Damn! Wasn't expecting such simple yet profound answers to some of the questions. Never knew Jude Law was so articulate and cerebral, then again never really saw many interviews of him.
I know someone who has worked on the crew for two projects with Jude. I’ve heard he is one of the absolute best in the business to work for and that he’s really genuinely a very kind person. They said he’s the kind of person that is always genuinely interested in what everyone he interacts with is doing and mentioned how he would regularly ask people on the crew how they or family members are doing.
If anyone is curious and hasn't figured it out yet from previous interviews the number Stephen is thinking of is 3. He's stated that it's always the same number and when someone has guessed 3, which has happened at least twice that I've noticed, it's the only time he doesn't say incorrect. Instead he reply's "Interesting." I love this segment it's one of my favorites the show does but I do hope someday the guest also realizes this and calls him out! It would be epically hilarious!
For the record, Nicolas Cage is a cat guy. Daniel Craig, Ryan Gosling, Matt Damon, & Josh Brolin, even Mariah Carey like both! I'm keeping tabs from the very few. Only the cool dudes..
He is still so damn charming! That man was on my wall all throughout college. I also really, really loved the answers to some of those questions. (What happens when we die, scariest animal, why the window seat). I didn't think I could like the man more, but yet here we are!
those were pretty great 5 words too Lots of celebs find 5 great words to offer on that prompt, but that and the sincerity of his sandwich make me like him more than I already did. Lucky guy, fruitful fit in career, happy marriage and family, sounds like. Happy for him.
I realize you probably didn't mean it quite this way, but this reminds me a bit of Marlene Dietrich's defense in the song "Falling in Love Again": "Men cluster to me like moths around a flame...and if their wings burn, I know I'm not to blame."
❣️LOVE me some Jude Law...also, did the man find the fountain of youth?! No aging here! He's terrific in 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' & 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' doing American accents in both! Amazing actor.
LOL, I agree with Jude for "favorite smell". The smell of damp earth. It's the smell that hits you when you open the door to head outside right after it has stopped raining, or you step inside a conservatory filled with tropical plants.
Just because he doesn't eat bread doesn't mean he can't list his favorite sandwich. I have a friend who's celiac and she loves to talk about all the bread she misses.
If I was a popular celebrity: Colbert: "What number am I thinking of?" Me: "eight million, six hundred, seventy five thousand, three hundred nine". Colbert: (if he knew what I was referring to right away) "That wasn't what I was originally thinking about, but now it is."
He seems delightful. Cats? Tomatoes? Marvin Gaye? Being appalled by modern fascism? Yes to all of this.
You seem to be in the category ordering: More of the same, please ☺. Roman Holiday or The Holiday with him (and the featured Kate Winslet today)?
oh get over it, turn on the news!
Gosh, I didn’t know I could appreciate Jude Law more than I already did. Seems like a lovely man. Petrichor is my favorite smell as well.
I just stepped inside from my fragrant rainy garden today and thought, What was that word?? A few hours later watching this, I anticipated he'd say that. Thanks. Now I know.
He gave the best answers so far, and also the most correct description of why the window seat.
He seemed to be prepared as he never took time to think.
his answers were about as interesting as any person off the street would have
Ryan Reynolds best answers ever. This is pretty goo though.
@@orbitaljunkie You must live on a far more interesting street than most.
you skipped what is the WORST smell! Jude Law is not fully known!
Good remark. They twirk the answers sometimes. Could be the answers were ... ahem or not wanted but then again, no lie detector after?!
Glad that I wasn't the only one who caught that. That needs to be Stephen's first question on Jude Law's next appearance as soon as he sits down. No warning or preamble.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I came here to say that.
Damn! Wasn't expecting such simple yet profound answers to some of the questions. Never knew Jude Law was so articulate and cerebral, then again never really saw many interviews of him.
He definitely studied other people’s answers.
"Fascist homo sapiens" is gold 🎉❤
Is that what he said?! I heard freshest homo sapiens ... as in, babies which makes total sense, those little buggers are scary

I've always known that he's a great actor but it's good to know that he is also a good lad.
except when he cheating on his girlfriends
I’ve always been a fan of Jude Law, now I like him even more.
this man has true elegance and class

I guarantee they all end up pregnant
what a delightful human being
What a very likable guy, and a great actor.
What a thoroughly charming, charismatic, delightful gentleman. Excellent answers, lovely interview, this was fantastic, Jude is always a win.
I always liked him and his work and this confirmed my impressions.
Jude just broke the Colbert Questionert Sandwich Law. I'm in awww 😉
Quoting Judge Dredd, "I AM THE LAW!" 😂
He forgot to put the nanny in though 😅
Inner City Blues. Fantastic, smart, choice. Lovely, thoughtful guy.
There's something extremely gentlemanly about Jude Law.
except when he cheating on his girlfriends
Except sleeping with the nanny
It’s almost The Holiday season, and by that I mean watching The Holiday at least once a week from Thanksgiving to New Year.
Same, if not more ♥️
I couldn't take that much sobbing! "I'm a weeper."
I love it too! I love everyone in that film

Impossibly charming and wonderful 😍😍😍
Didn't think I could end up falling in love with him even more 😻
My favorite so far! So original, so authentic!
First interview of Jude Law I've seen. Seems like such a nice guy.
I just love him.....
Jude Law my heartthrob 💕💕💕🌟🌟🌟🫶🫶🫶and I’m 74 🥰☺️what a pleasant surprise and a pleasure. Love his answer to scariest animal. 👍🌟
One of the coolest names, greatest actors, handsomest guys. And good memory
GREAT!!!!
He's as gorgeous as always, how is that possible?!
This is my favorite of the Colbert Questionerts so far.
Best answers of all the Questionerts!
Love this segment, and I'm a cat person too 🐈😺❤😊.
Loved him in Gattaca. His character was so flawed and brings tears to my eyes if I'm in the right mood. Jude seems like a good dude.
💚 that is absolutely the scariest animal!
Lovely. I've been a big fan ever since he first showed up on the big screen. He never disappoints.
Very good answers!
Very bright answers. Perhaps because I'm a cat person, too.
😂
I love that he picked "inner city blues" and his description of it
those were pretty great 5 words too

this man is stunning
Sting said more of the same please 😂
Yes! Came here to see if anyone had commented on that yet 👍
Awe ❤ now I love him even more
OH MY FABULOUS GODDESS - have you seen him in the popes? spectacular!!
He is charming. And it gets him into all kinds of trouble.

Such interesting responses
OK, love this man!!
Ah Jude. You lost me on the dogs😂😢😂
Evie Colbert should do this questionaire too, that would be lovely! :D
Some More Jude Law Please
Never agreed so much with a guest Great answears!
man, i listened to inner city blues by gil scott heron so many times not realizing that it was a cover version, ty jude!
😊loved this
omg i was thinking I'd answer "petrichor" yesterday morning if Stephen asked. Jude just freaked me out.
Me too!
@@aninewforest whoa
Jon Batiste also said petrichor in his Questionert. It is a beautiful word, and smell.
Cats!!! 🐈
Good answers!
He is so freaking sleek, like a panther
I finally realised what the answer to the what number am I thinking of is 'No.'
RuPaul and Jude Law got "scariest animal" right.
So did Ryan Gosling.
His answers were great and all with the exception of “I don’t eat bread” 💔
Wait, hold on, what about his least favorite smell?
And I think the number Stephen’s been thinking of this whole time has been 3.
3 is the only one he didn't say no to, and he didn't answer Jude when he asked if anyone had ever guessed.
Stephen dodged the question about whether anybody has guessed the number but he never tells people who guess "3" that they're wrong.
LOL, I agree with Jude for "favorite smell". The smell of damp earth. It's the smell that hits you when you open the door to head outside right after it has stopped raining, or you step inside a conservatory filled with tropical plants.
Didn't ask worst smell!
that was the best answer yet to "scariest animal"
i liked his cheat on best sandwich too
Went and looked up Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues" as I wasn't familiar with it and it's a jam
The number he's thinking of is 3. A couple people have guessed it and he immediately went to the next question without saying no.
I love him.
That's all.
Love Jude even more now!!!
Petrichor is the best here in the Mojave desert!
I can't believe he knows πετριχώρ!!!! Ancient greek word, my favorite, can't be found often to other vocabularies!!
Greetings from 🇬🇷
Window or aisle?
Two jokes about picking "aisle":
1. Oh, I just had my hair done.
2. I don't want to fall out of the plane.
The Young Pope is one of THE best series ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! stunninggggggggggg
Nice chap
congrats to this man for owning the hairline
I just saw Squeeze live!!!
Just because he doesn't eat bread doesn't mean he can't list his favorite sandwich. I have a friend who's celiac and she loves to talk about all the bread she misses.
I have 2 celiac friends & they can have sandwiches with GF bread.
I'm pretty sure it's not "The Squeze" but simply "Squeeze."
Seems like a decent chap. Just one point: the band is Squeeze, not The Squeeze.
I was thinking the same, but expected him to know better.
Yeah that was weird!
2 different bands. Squeeze is from AUS, the Squeeze is from London
Squeeze (from London) have been around for over 45 years and have never been called 'the'. Going to see them soon.@discospiders

I learned a new word: petrichor.
My wife always call him 'Lude Jaw', and I used to kinda roll my eyes... until I considered the alternate spelling.
Lewd Jah? 😅
Lewd Jaw?? He is a beautiful man, but he does come off as fake & into himself.
I do not know if anyone else noticed this, but his last answer (describe the rest... ) is EXACTLY the same as Sting's.
You’re right 😊

Shows you how much I knew in high school.
what a GREAT, SUPER sandwich, Jude!

5:04 "inner city blues", baby. it's a jazz standard by this point.
More soul than jazz
Mostly I watch those to find out which song but the whole interview was enriching.
He's dropped the question, "What's the one thing you own that you should throw out?"
The name of the football (not soccer!) player is Kevin Keegan, not Kevin Keaton (as the subs indicate).
